I am enthusiastic about how Astrology is taken in Islam. Believing astrology 100% will be great crime. Then astrologers are 100% wrong? Is it a science? Such many questions burning me for the last few days from when I am focusing on some thing very stunning to me.

I am trying to bring Islam (indications in the Hadith and Quran), science, prophesies of Nostradams or Dicksons, Calender of Mayan Civilization, warning of Bishops and Jews scholars, Bible code and present Geo-political situations in the same alignment. When prophesiers from very different time of the history, Modern science speaks in the same tune should we focus on the topic with the light of Islam? I mean should we ignore it totally or we should think deeply? I have another article in the forum with the title “ What’s gonna take place in 2012?” As I am studying on it I am facing many interesting and stunning data. As I go deeper I feel there is a tendency inside me to believe some of those. So should I go deeper? I don’t know exactly what Islam thinks exactly about Prophesy. I think Prophesies are not 100% right as Knowledge of future only belongs to Allah. But is there any hidden indication by which prophesiers try to predict? If indications could be decoded correctly then some people can foresee?

Plz don’t reply without knowing much. It may confuse me and others. I know there are many wise people who could make it clear it to me. By this time I will try to ready another post under my another thread “ What’s gonna take place in 21st December 2012”

Assalamu Alaikum, Below are verses from the Qur'aan and a few Ahadeeth regarding Astrology as taken from Wikipedia. I suggest that you check the link and read the whole Article.
Assalamu alaikum.

Quranic verses and Ahadith relating to astrology
Before the advent of Islam, people believed that the sun and moon might eclipse when a great figure died. During the Muhammad's(SAW)lifetime, it happened that the sun eclipsed on the same day when Muhammad’s (SAW) son Ibrahim died. The people then thought that it had eclipsed because of Muhammad’s (SAW) son’s death. On knowing this, Muhammad (SAW) led them in the Eclipse Prayer and then delivered a speech saying: “The sun and moon are but signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because so-and-so died or was born.”

This hadith indicates that Muhammad (SAW) denied all relation between the movements of the heavenly bodies and events on the Earth. Ibn `Abbas reported that Muhammad (SAW) said: “He who has acquired some knowledge of astrology has acquired some knowledge of sorcery; the more he acquires of the former the more he acquires of the latter.”[6]

Commenting on this hadith, the Yemeni scholar Muhammad ash-Shawkani (d.1834), said that the Islamic prophet Muhammad (SAW) compared between astrology and sorcery because sorcery was known to be forbidden; and so, he who would get some knowledge of astrology would do something forbidden and would be sinful.[7]

It was also reported by Ibn Abbas that Muhammad (SAW) said: “He who uses astronomy for something other than what Almighty Allah has made lawful would be practicing sorcery. Astrologers predict knowledge of the future, and he who does so is a sorcerer, and sorcerers are disbelievers.”[8]

Also, Ibn Mihjan reported that Muhammad (SAW) said: “I fear on account of my nation three things after my death: (I fear that) their Imams (leaders) would oppress them, (that) they would believe in astrology, and (that) they would disbelieve predestination.”[9]

Abu Hurayrah also reported that Muhammad (SAW) said: “He who goes to a fortune-teller to ask him about something, his Prayer will not be accepted for forty days.”[10]

Abu Hurayrah also reported that Muhammad (SAW) said: “He who goes to a soothsayer or a fortuneteller and believes what he says exhibits disbelief in what has been sent down to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) (from Allah).”[11]

Contemplating the last two ahadith reported by Abu Hurayrah, it is to be noted that mere going to fortune-tellers is a sin that incurs upon a Muslim who commits it that his prayer is not accepted for forty days, and that believing what fortunetellers say renders a Muslim a disbeliever in what has been sent down to Muhammad(SAW). This is because Allah says in the Quran: “Say (O Muhammad): None in the heavens and the earth knoweth the Unseen save Allah; and they know not when they will be raised (again).”[12]

Allah also says: “(He is) the knower of the Unseen, and He revealeth unto none His secret, save unto every messenger whom he hath chosen, and then He maketh a guard to go before him and a guard behind him That He may know that they have indeed conveyed the messages of their Lord. He surroundeth all their doings, and He keepeth count of all things.”[13]

Praise be to Allah (The Exalted and Glorified).

What will take place in 2012? Only Allah (The Exalted) Knows. Astrology is not a science, but astronomy is the study of the universe. Astrology is corruption which claims to foretell the future by the positioning of the stars. Whoever believes in astrology, disbelieves in Allah (The Exalted). You should not post anything about 2012 nor should you care to learn anymore about astrology which contradicts ISLAM. Some corrupt individuals dealing in astrology are frauds and the rest are dealing with shayateen (evil jinns). These jinns hear some word from the angels in the lower heaven about events that have been predetermined and then these jinn deliver the information to there human counterparts.

‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said:
Some people asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about fortunetellers. He said: “They are nothing.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, sometimes they tell us something and it is true.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “That is a word of the truth that they learn from the jinn, which he [the jinn] whispers into the ear of his familiar [i.e. fortuneteller], but they mix a hundred lies with it.” [al-Bukhari no. 5429; Muslim no. 2228]

Narrated Abdullah bin ‘Umar:
I never heard ‘Umar saying about something that he thought it would be so-and-so, but he was quite right. Once, while ‘Umar was sitting, a handsome man passed by him, ‘Umar said, “If I am not wrong, this person is still on his religion of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance or he was their fortuneteller. Call the man to me.” When the man was called to him, he [‘Umar] told him of his thought. The man said, “I have never seen such a day on which a Muslim is faced with such an accusation.” ‘Umar said, “I am determined that you should tell me the truth.” He said, “I was a fortuneteller in the pre-Islamic period of ignorance.” Then ‘Umar said, “Tell me the most astonishing thing your female jinn has told you of.” He said, “One-day while I was in the market, she came to me scared and said, ‘Haven’t you seen the jinns and their despair and they were overthrown after their defeat (and prevented from listening to the news of the heaven) so that they (stopped going to the sky and) kept following…[Arabs])?’” ‘Umar said, “He is right.” [Bukhari: Book 5: Volume 58: Hadith 206]

Brother Ruk is right. It is necessary to make clear a very important distinction – that between Astronomy and Astrology – the two terms are often confused by many persons as meaning the same. They cannot be further from each other. Astronomy is a science and halal whereas astrology is a pseudo science and haram. Astronomy deals with the study of the heavens in an effort to understand the underlying principles governing the behaviour of the planets, stars and galaxies and the Universe in general. Astrology claims to predict the destinies of persons as a result of the ‘action’ of planets and so on, on their lives. There has not been to date any contradiction between Astronomy, as we understand it, and the Qur’an.
