Alot of natutural wildlife, alot of undisturbed animal habitats. Banff and Jasper national parks are the best in the Rocky Mountains.

Nice big Lobster

you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_news.nationalgeographic(contact admin if its a beneficial link)/news/2005/03/images/050302_lobster.jpg

22-pound (10-kilogram) lobster had his sentence commuted by Bob Wholey, owner of Wholey's seafood market in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Caught between the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the People for Eating Tasty Animals, Wholey decided to send the crotchety crustacean (estimated to be at least 50 years old) to a peaceful retirement in an aquarium at the Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_news.nationalgeographic(contact admin if its a beneficial link)/news/2005/11/images/051117_butterflies.jpg

November 17, 2005—A hot new thing in high tech may actually be 30 million years old. Glow-in-the-light African swallowtail butterflies essentially have highly efficient LEDs embedded in their wings, according to a study co-authored by physicist Pete Vukusic (pictured above) that appears in tomorrow's issue of the journal Science. (Read the full story: "Glowing Butterflies Shine With Natural LEDs.")

Found in computer monitors, brake lights, flashlights, and other electronics, efficient LEDs (light-emitting diodes) were only recently perfected by humans. But the same basic structures that make the new technology possible—tiny mirror systems and crystals—have apparently been lighting up butterfly wings for millennia.

As a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Alexei Erchak developed the first prototype "high-efficient LED" in 2001. His take on the butterfly discovery? It "means that butterflies are smarter than MIT students."

—Written by Ted Chamberlain, reported by John Roach

Awesome pics! the lobster looks yummy (NOT) and....glow in the dark butterflies?? Thats new :D

Theres place in Edmonton, Alberta, called Fort Edmonton where they have preserved the native's heritage and they have centuries old Teepees still there. At the same place, they also have Canada's very first masjid (which was established in Edmonton in 1938), called Al-Rashid Masjid, whose cornerstone for this building was laid by Abdullah Yusuf Ali (the Qur'aanic translator).

Have a look at the old one and the new one, which also has an Islamic school and many other community facilities.

Assalamu Alaikum, SubhanAllah, all the pictures are so unique, shows the greatness of Allah, and some people still doubt about it, May Allah give hidayaah to all, starting with me offcourse, ameen.

Kaneeza, may Allah bless you for posting the pictures of the Al Rashid Masjid, then and now, brought back so many good memories. I have been to both the Masjids. Just wanted to clear one thing though, the original Masjid is not only the first Masjid in Canada, BUT THE FIRST OFFICIAL MASJID BUILT IN NORTH AMERICA. And yes Abdullah Yusuf Ali was the one who inaugrated it.

The whole New Al Rashid masjid was built virtually in front of our eyes, in fact would you believe me if I said, when they were placing the CRESCENT on the dome of the Masjid, Imam Chebli (the Imam of the Masjid at that time) and Saleem Ghanam (the President of the Masjid comittee at that time) and my husband were standing and looking at the dome and Imam Chebli kept on asking my husband about the direction in which the crescent should point, then he turned towards my 3 year old son Umar who was sitting in the car with me and screamed, UMAR DO YOU THINK THIS DIRECTION IS OKAY, Umar nodded just like that, and the Imam then said that's it, we will leave the crescent facing that way. It was all in a joking way, but for me it is something very emotional, because UMAR MY SON PASSED AWAY in 1990 when he was just 10 years old, and whenever I see Al Rashid Masjid it brings back those memories. JazaakAllah again Kaneeza, Loved you, but more now for the pleasure of Allah.

Sorry Br. Faqeer, for hogging your thread, just had to get my emotion settled. if it seems in appropriate, please remove it. JazaakAllahu Khair , Sis. masooma

Initially i had put " first Masjid built in North America" but then upon some research i saw some other Masjid in the US claiming to be the first, so i edited it :D That masjid is the Epitome of what every muslim community should be, very unified.

Yes, I remember Imam Chebli, he now runs an Islamic Center in Toronto.
Mr. Saleem Ghanem did a lot for the Islamic school, May Allah have mercy on his soul...

And yes, you can delete if you like ya seedi faqeer.... :D
