great idea to start this thread :D those involved.

i have a few small question

does aktharu mean "more"

what does "inna kataka..." mean?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Depending on the context, 'aktharu' can mean more or most (e.g. most people like to go on holiday)

As for kataka, is that qaaf or kaaf? and is it the heavy 'taa'?

:D !

this is a brilliant idea!

im always getting approached by arab ladies (after i've given them salaam) saying........................
.......i have no idea :D (but they do sound pretty excited about something...until i explain that im not arab and i dont speak arabic.)

which brings me to my question...how exactly do i say "really sorry, not arab, dont speak arabic, am pakistani, pleeeeeeeeeeeease dont walk (run) away, i can make light conversation in english?!"

(ok, ok the translation for the first 9 words will suffice :D )

:D :D

Erm.. i'm not really sure bro. It would depend on the 'harakat' or 'accents' on the letters. Do you think you could post the whole sentence, so it's put in context?

anyone else help out? :D

Lol... 'yaani' means 'means' or 'meaning', as in:

'yaani will i be late for class?' = 'meaning will i be late for class?'

or 'yaani she likes shopping' = 'meaning she likes shopping'

i hope that makes sense!

Akhi Slave You dont have to add the "u" at the end .

Just Akthar or Akthar Min .

ÃßËÑ or ÃßËÑ ãä

Your second word May not be arabic at all akhi or you pronounced it wrong .

Well akhi all you have to say is either

" Ana Lastu Úarabiyun ( Or Ana Laa Atakalam Al Úarabiya ) "

Then You can say " Ana Atakalamu bil engleeziya "

Keep in mind that these are Quranic arabic terms .

I know what you mean Amu :D There are just so many letters which do not exist in English. It's usually impossible to get the corect pronunciation from just looking at the word in English. You need really need to hear someone say it.

Nevertheless, great thread Amu Al Faqeer :D
