"The evil eye is like an arrow or spear that leaves the soul of the envier and goes to the person that is envied. It afflicts the person envied at times and sometimes it doesnt. When it doesn't afflict him, it is because of the protective methods he uses (whether supplications, seeking refuge, etc.) Also, when it doesnt afflict him, the evil eye can return to the envier. ( The Medicine of the Prophet, 138)"

Truly. I know of some people who are affected by it right now.

Ar-Rooqiyah is permissible and maybe even mustahhab and in some cases maybe even wajib, but there is another information that I have about Ar-Rooqiyah.

To avoid Ar-Rooqiyah can be more rewarding than to use it. The usage of Ar-Rooqiyah can make a difference in the Hereafter, but not Hellfire or Paradise. It is about the status in paradise and especially the timing of entering Paradise.

There is a hadeeth that one of the conditions to be among the first 70000 Muslims to enter Paradise without going through the reckoning is that they don't use Ar-Rooqiyah. Ar-Rooqiyah is good and maybe very good, but if there is an alternative to Ar-Rooqiyah then you might receive a greater reward by chosing the alternative.

If Ar-Rooqiyah is essential then it is a different story, but if it is not essential then avoiding Ar-Rooqiyah is better.

We might wonder why only 70000 Muslims will enter Paradise right away without reckoning.

This is about the timing to enter Paradise, but not about the level in Paradise, because the level and status is determined by the deeds, but Ar-Rooqiyah may affect the timing. I may cause more delay, which does not mean that we are suffering, except impatience/excitement to enter Paradise.

sahih bukhari Volume 7, Book 71, Number 606:
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

Allah's Apostle said, 'Nations were displayed before me; one or two prophets would pass by along with a few followers. A prophet would pass by accompanied by nobody. Then a big crowd of people passed in front of me and I asked, Who are they Are they my followers?" It was said, 'No. It is Moses and his followers It was said to me, 'Look at the horizon.'' Behold! There was a multitude of people filling the horizon. Then it was said to me, 'Look there and there about the stretching sky! Behold! There was a multitude filling the horizon,' It was said to me, 'This is your nation out of whom seventy thousand shall enter Paradise without reckoning.' "Then the Prophet entered his house without telling his companions who they (the 70,000) were. So the people started talking about the issue and said, "It is we who have believed in Allah and followed His Apostle; therefore those people are either ourselves or our children who are born m the Islamic era, for we were born in the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance.''

When the Prophet heard of that, he came out and said. "Those people are those who do not treat themselves with Ruqya, nor do they believe in bad or good omen (from birds etc.) nor do they get themselves branded (Cauterized). but they put their trust (only) in their Lord " On that 'Ukasha bin Muhsin said. "Am I one of them, O Allah's Apostle?' The Prophet said, "Yes." Then another person got up and said, "Am I one of them?" The Prophet said, 'Ukasha has anticipated you."

Assalamu alaykum

[at]Yusha. I thought that hadith pertains to seeking ruqyah from other people as opposed to reciting ruqyah over yourself? I listen to ruqyah audios to help myself, and do not ask anyone to do ruqyah for me. I'm kinda finding it difficult to believe that people like me who seek Allah's help for themselves are in the same category as those who sought ruqyah from others. :[##][/##]
