Indonesian proclaimed its independence on August 17th 1945, not 1947.
Current Indonesian president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is Moeslem, not Christian.
Indonesia never has Christian President.
Moeslem population now in Indonesia is not 93 %, it is about 88%

There are always bad people in any country, regardless they are moeslem or not. I guess there are such people in your country too. As an example, many tourists from Midlle East come to South East asian countries (Indon, Malay, Thai, etc) to have relaxion/refreshment with local girls companion, or so many Indonesian go to nearby island belongs to Malay to play gambling (it's legal there)....My point is to not make it general about other people, there are always bad and good people, only God who has right to justice us.....

Gradually, the indigene started to embrace Islam eventhough not an a large scale. Aceh, the most west region in Indonesia archipelago was the first region receiving Islam. Moreover, in Aceh, the first Islam kingdom was standing, Pasai. Marcopolo said that on the time his stop in Pasai in 692 H/1292 C, many Arabic people had disseminated Islam. So Ibnu Battutha, moslem wanderer from Marocco which when he was stopping in Aceh in 746 H/1345 C, wrote that in Aceh had disseminated Syafi'i mazhab. Now the oldest inheritance from the moslem was found in Gresik, East Java, that was the Islam funeral complex. One of them was a muslimah grave, called Fathima binti Maimun. In her grave was written numeral of year 475 H/1082 C, meant long ago before Majapahit, greatest Hindu's Empire in Indonesia.
----------
Now Indonesia is biggest people of Islam at world.

asSalaamu'alaykum. Those times, sailboats were the only alternative to cruise. Then steamboat, diesel-motorboat, airplane were invented. It make cruising easier and faster. 210,000 Indonesian go to hajj every year out of 750,000 from the waiting list. Indonesia's rmed forces, political parties and civil service has always been dominated by its 6% Christian minority, since its independence as legacy of former western colonists. The vast majority yearn for Islamic Shari’ah laws – but the country’s constitution is based on a pagan system – known as ‘Pancasila’. The current president of Indonesia - Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is also a Christian.
Wait..what? Susilo is not a Christian -_-a
And seriously, Pagan system? If it is what i think it is (The act of not believing in one deity) then i feel obligated to say that it's WRONG.
And just to be clear, Pancasila is in fact against it, since it's written there clearly in one of the five principles.
"Belief in the one and only God, (in Indonesian, Ketuhanan Yang Maha Esa)."

Pulling away from the political bickering in the posts above....
Alhamdulillah I've been fortunate enough to have spent almost all my life in different places overseas and have recently returned to Indonesia. For one, it's a blessing to be able to hear the adzan 5 times a day and also can just walk to the masjid (and have about 2-3 choices of masjids too!) instead of having to drive miles to find one. I'm still adapting and getting reacclimated to the local environment and cultures, but I do enjoy the freedom of speech compared to some countries in the West, in religious matters.
Anyway... I don't really have much of anything to add to this thread, just saying hello to my fellow countrymen(women?).
Cheers.
