:sl:

i used "disk cleanup" to delete the temporary internet files but When i open the temporary internet folder there are still a whole lot of files there .
should i delete them manually?
there are files with wierd names like POBUJFHN WMSO108R etc. If i try to open any, i get the message that " this page has an unspecified potential security flaw. would you like to continue."

BTW I am still with XP

Assalamu Alaikum shaheena, We should cleanup the temporary files on a regular basis, otherwise the computer slows down and the disc space fills up ( I am sure there are other reasons too, which computer knowledgable people are aware of) I clean up my temporary files once a week.

Here is what my husband taught me to do.........

__Click the start button
__ Then click control Panel ( You will get a window with different options there, look for Internet options)
__Click Internet Options
__You will get another window, called Internet Properties (look carefully and you will find a section Temporary Internet Files
__In that section you will see a button Delete Files. click on it.
__You will get another small window asking you Delete files? Read the contents of the window.
__there is an option asking if you want to Delete all offline contents (I always check the option)

That's it then just wait and the computer will delete all the Temporary files.
You will have the hourglass on, once the cleanup is done you will get your cursor back. Just click on OK, and Et voila.

If you have'nt done this befor then it might take quite some time for the cleanup, but if you do it regularly then it takes a couple of minutes. Just be patient for the first time, and then cleanup on a regular basis, and Alhamdulillah your in Business, LOL.

InshaAllah I hope this helps you, as far as I know, this is how it is done, if not someone else can help.

Please convey my salaam to Amma.

Salaams and duaas.

:sl: for your suggestion.

Ihave managed to delete the files.

I wonder why the disk cleanup couldn't "cleanup" properly.

Walekum as Salaam

Salam!

You are find to delete anything at all in your temp folder, manual or otherwise. The only thing you have to be careful when deleting is if u delete anything in windows. U have to go somewhere else to do it and I won't tell u how cuz it's dangerous. My habibi was a computer tech. So anything u wanna delete in ur temp folder is just fine ad won't harm your comp. Let me know if there's anything I can help with, I know a lot about this kind of thing.
