The thing that have your own profile your collection of your photos, comments from people, tagging, reconnecting with friends? and so on. I don't know my cousins, friends encouraged me to have one but I don't think I'll make one.. yet. Haha jk nahhh I won't make one. :sl: So what are your thoughts? Post..

Walaikumussalam warhmathullahi wabarakathuhu

The 1st and 2nd options are almost the same except for the emotion in it,I think.I am not against them, but I definitely dont support them either.Yes,It can lead to fitnah, and its better to avoid them.

assalamu alaikum warahmathullahi wabarakathuhu

You can use them how you want to use them. At the beginning some people weren't sure whether or not the internet was good, and now it's not even a question: we all use it.

Facebook and similar can be used for Fitnah or it can be just another website. Turn up your privacy settings if you don't want people to see your picture or talk to you. Or don't post pictures of yourself. Regardless, don't lag behind the time cause of some vague feeling that Facebook is forbidden...

Asalamu Alaikum,

Not only can social networking sites be used for spreading Da'wah but can only be used to spread information about the truth and can also be used to spread Islamic Hadiths and verses from the quran...

Wa alaikumu salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh akhi,

Social networking websites can be used for good, but in most cases it leads to people doing things which aren't permissible. Facebook is one of those things which even if you try and avoid the evil, you wont be saved from it completely, so at the end of the day it's down to you to make the judgement as to whether you think it's right or wrong to use it.

Speaking of Facebook, here is a lecture by brother Abu Mussab Wajdi Akkari on the topic titled "Facebook can make you face hell":

I voted for OK. I can see uses for them, but I struggle to care enough to become really involved.

I only use them to talk to people I have no other way of contacting. Other than that, it's just a giant political bulletin board for me to post on.

Me too, i vote: It's OK. Just OK.
But like as in FaceBook, I feel the "thread/topic" is so widely spreaded that we can't focus like as we have in a forum board like this forum discussion board. In a forum board we can't talk out of topic or be banned, even what we talk still about "Islam is better".

I used to have two accounts I think on facebook.com but I got them all deleted. So now I don't have a single account on facebook.

I quit facebook not long ago when I realized that using it for me has more cons than pros. It does more harm than good.

The sins I've noticed that that well-known site can bring about are:

1) showing off
2) competing in materialistic or worldly gains
3) feeling jealous of someone's photo album, deliberately or uninentionally causing others to feel jealous
4) wasting time on FB when you could be doing more good deeds in real life
5) chit-chatting daily with non-Mahrams.
6) exposing your Muslim friends and acquaintances to nosy people who use that website for being nosy, I think the intelligent Muslims know what I mean.
7) facebook can break up friendships, especially if a friend sees his/her friend friends with his/her foe :o) or when a friend deletes someone as a friend or when a friend competes with a friend in terms of who has the larger number of people in their friends list, adding people they may not even know in real life.

Allah KNOWS BEST. Alhamdulillah that I'm no longer on facebook.com

Facebook could be beneficial in few occasions. This can be attained through participating in the beneficial Islamic groups. But mostly it's bad.

Assalamualaikum,
I don't have facebook because I don't like its feature. It seems that we have no privacy there. And it made by Jews. So no, I support Palestinians. I like twitter better. We can get information + friends there. We can do da'wa as well in that social media. But make sure to follow only Islamic twitter account.
Wassalam

I think it depends on your purpose of why you need to go on it, for example; spreading da'wah
But still I think you should stick to Islamic Forums where mashallah at the same time you become friends with your dear brothers & sisters in Islam but also gain knowledge :)

Yeah, I definitely saw that using it without any good purpose makes it an extreme waste of time.
