How many lives and billions were gone to reach this:
"In a Washington Post/ABC News poll, 60 percent of respondents said the war in Afghanistan had not been worth the fighting, while 57 percent in a Pew Research Center poll said that the United States should bring home American troops as soon as possible. In a Gallup/USA Today poll, 50 percent of respondents said the United States should speed up the withdrawal from Afghanistan."

It's because some people finally found out what the others already knew. After 9/11, when the taliban refused to cough up bin laden, the U.S. shouldn't have invaded, they just should have punished the talibs with airpower and missiles. Maybe a few 'Abbottabad-type' operations here and there, but no full scale invasion. And this notion that we could drag the afghans into the 21st century was a joke.

They thought they can do something, but all they did was lose troops, money and damage their economy

The U.S. could stay as long as they liked, but for what ? It's a dirt-hole that just isn't worth it.

It's funny you mention that. I've seen a few times on this site where people said they had nothing against the American people, but didn't like the government.

Are you sure its a dirt-hole?
You may call it a dirt hole, but it is a paradise for those who are born there..
You don't even know why the world is interested in this dirt-hole, do some research.. Its a land full of treasures with an estimated value of of 3 trillion worth of resources or could be more...
The war was never about osama or taliban, it was about maintaining the power for a bit longer.. This can only achieved through invading and looting resources of other countries...

Afghanistan is going to be the Saudi Arabia of lithium and the future of iphone like phones are in Afghanistan inshallah..

Russian came for the same reason, but failed..

Yes. The urban areas are. The wilderness areas are pretty nice.

The war was never about osama or taliban, it was about maintaining the power for a bit longer.. This can only achieved through invading and looting resources of other countries...

Sure. And 9/11 was just a 'coincidence'. And what has NATO 'looted' ?

Afghanistan is going to be the Saudi Arabia of lithium and the future of iphone like phones are in Afghanistan inshallah..

"Inshallah," exactly. I don't doubt that there are minerals there in that dirt. But by the time that place is safe enough to make the support of any type of mining industry worthwhile without the threat of BOOM, batteries will be made of something else.
