I was thinking the other day because of my financial situation a brother at the masjid told me that accepting money that one has to pay an interest on or anything involved with interest is haram. I am slowly trying to pay off that which I have pawned. I do not agree with what I have done ( pawning some of my possessions for money ) but it was necessary that I might be able to get to work to have money or food. But I am getting away from the point....

Is stock haram? or more specifically is purchasing stock haram?

perhaps I should clarify as my situation is a bit more twisted than that. I am a Wal-Mart associate who initially opted to have a few dollars taken from every check to purchase Wal-Mart stock.

You should read the article and go through the points which talked about the permissability of investing in stock and compare it to purchasing Wal-Mart stocks. From what I can gather, it seems that having Wal-Mart stocks is legit. God knows best. However, you should still re-read the article since you know best what your situation entails.

You can send an e-mail to the following site, describing your case in detail: http://www.daruliftaa.com/

Take care, brother.
