Is the devil in Islam a fallen angel? What is the diffrence between a devil and an angel, or is the devil also an angel?

Is the devil actually a servant of God, or a rebel? What is the diffrence between a servant and a rebel? Does the devil know about Allah and Islam?

Allah gave him the option. He chose to disobey Allah instead of obeying Him.

Satan is not a fallen Angel. The difference between a satan/devil and an Angel (pbuh) is that the former are like us, humans. They can disobey God or obey Him. They will be judged in accordance with their deeds. Angels (pbut) on the other hand don't have the capacity to disobey God just as the rest of the creation does not have that ability apart from humans and the Jinn, of which the devils are apart.

The devil is a slave of God like the rest of us. However, he is a rebellious slave and he will enter Hell. Yes, Satan knows about Allah. He spoke with Allah directly and refused to obey His command. He asked Allah for respite until the Day of Judgement which God granted him.
