Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh (السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته), I want to start by talking about myself. I am a revert of almost 10 years now, I have just moved back to the states from living in the UAE. I had fallen in love with living there for I was able to follow my seen to the fullest. Now to the reason that I am posting her, while living in the UAE I never missed a prayer at the Masjid, and never missed a Juma.

Now that I have moved back to the states (Minnesota, Mpls) I have a dilemma. I spent the first three months of my return trying to find a job, it is very hard here to find work, Alhamdulillah (الحمد لله) I found work. Here is the problem that I have. I had gone to ,my new job and explained to them that on Fridays are the holy days that I like to take off 2 hrs to attend Friday prayer, I was abruptly told that I was unable to attend. Now I have to have this job I have a family to support I have young children, and for the economic reason can not leave this job.

Now I told this to my friends and they are telling me that it is Haram to miss Juma prayer, but I do not have a choice at this time in my life, now I need to know what are the repercussions for not going to Juma prayer. I am working to move to another Islamic country (Indonesia,) in January. But till then I have this dilemma I am asking for advice please.

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh (السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته)

Wa `alaykumu s-salāmu wa rahmatu l-lāhi wa barakātuh.

Here are two related fatwas.

2. http://www.islamweb....twaId&Id=138018

In case the employer does not give the employee a permission to go for the Friday prayer, then it is not permissible for the employee to leave it due to work unless he is in necessity to do this job that prevents him from attending the Friday prayer in a way that he cannot find another job and he cannot earn his living and the living of those whom he is obligated to spend on without this job, in which case, it is permissible for him not to attend the Friday prayer because of the necessity and he should pray it as Thuhr prayer. The jurists Posted Image stated that among the sound reasons that permit a man not to attend the Friday prayer is fearing to lose a considerable property or fearing to be harmed in earning his living that he is in need of. Al-Mirdaawi Posted Image from the Hanbali School of jurisprudence, said: “Among the sound reasons that permits a man not to attend the Friday prayer and the congregational prayer is fearing to be harmed in earning his living that he is in need of.” In this case, you are obligated to look for a job that does not conflict with the performance of the Friday prayer, and Allaah Says (what means): {And whoever fears Allaah - He Will Make for him a way out. And Will Provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allaah — then He is sufficient for him.}[Quran 65:2-3]
