bismillah ar ramnir rahim
salaam alaiykum,
Many times I hear about making the intention.
I feel this has been made too vague so I have started a thread to try and clarify this for myself and for others (insha'Allah).

Personally I have thought intention to mean a conscious decision that this is being done specifically for Allah (swt)

As-salamu 'alaikum wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh
You would be right in your thought.
The intention is not really complicated. It is the intention of doing something solely for God's sake. However, sometimes people's intentions are not entirely pure. For example, one might want to spend in charity so others will say that he is generous, or want to become a scholar so he becomes famous etc. I am sure you get the idea.
