  1. Your Favorite Verses from the Quran

"Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?" Repeated a number of times in Surah Ar-Rahman, for me the message behind this ayat is simple and beautiful. Everything that we have - both in this world and the next - is because of Allah. BE GRATEFUL!
  2. "pairs" Being Mentioned In The Qur'an

There are male and female jinns - this is confirmed by a number of hadith such as: Volume 5, Book 58, Number 206: Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: I never heard 'Umar saying about something that he thought it would be so-and-so, but he was quite right. Once, while 'Umar was sitting, a handsome man passed by him, 'Umar said, "If I am not wrong, this person is still on his religion of the pre-lslamic period of ignorance or he was their foreteller. Call the man to me." When the man was called to him, he told him of his thought. The man said, "I have never seen such a day on which a Muslim is faced with such an accusation." 'Umar said, "I am determined that you should tell me the truth." He said, "I was a foreteller in the pre-lslamic period of ignorance." Then 'Umar said, "Tell me the most astonishing thing your female Jinn has told you of." He said, "One-day while I was in the market, she came to me scared and said, 'Haven't you seen the Jinns and their despair and they were overthrown after their defeat (and prevented from listening to the news of the heaven) so that they (stopped going to the sky and) kept following camel-riders (i.e. 'Arabs)?" 'Umar said, "He is right." and added, "One day while I was near their idols, there came a man with a calf and slaughtered it as a sacrifice (for the idols). An (unseen) creature shouted at him, and I have never heard harsher than his voice. He was crying, 'O you bold evil-doer! A matter of success! An eloquent man is saying: None has the right to be worshipped except you (O Allah).' On that the people fled, but I said, 'I shall not go away till I know what is behind this.' Then the cry came again: 'O you bold evil-doer! A matter of success! An eloquent man is saying: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah.' I then went away and a few days later it was said, "A prophet has appeared."

The move on Tuesday came hours after 40 Palestinians were killed at a UN school where civilians had taken shelter amid the offensive. "The Holocaust, that is what is happening right now in Gaza," Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president, said in televised comments. "The president of israel at this moment should be taken to the International Criminal Court together with the president of the United States." At least 660 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since israel began its offensive on December 27, in what it says is an attempt to halt Palestinian rocketfire from Gaza. 'State terrorism' Venezuela's foreign ministry said in a statement that israel's campaign constituted "flagrant violations of international law" and the use of "state terrorism". "For the reasons mentioned above, the government of Venezuela has decided to expel the ambassador of israel and part of the personnel of the embassy of israel," the statement said. On Monday, Chavez, a strong critic of israel and the US, had accused Washington of poisoning Yasser Arafat, the late former Palestinian president, to destabilise the Middle East and justify US-backed israeli incursions. The United States, which Chavez describes as a decadent empire, firmly backs israel, its principal ally in the region. On Tuesday, the White House said it would support an "immediate" ceasefire in Gaza but only if it was likely to be "durable".
  6. Sunan Abu Dawud: A Question

As an example, if you go to the very first page at (you are not allowed to post links yet)"you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_you are not allowed to post links yetusc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/abudawud/001.sat.html"]you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_you are not allowed to post links yetusc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/h...ud/001.sat.html[/url] , you can see they are numbered 0001, 0002, 0003, then it jumps to 0006 and 0007, then jumps again to 0010.
  7. :sl: brothers and sisters I have a quick question which has bene bugging me for a while. Why is it that some hadiths appear to be missing from Sunan Abu Dawud (or at least the english translation)? I have asked this question elsewhere - some say it's because that these 'missing' hadiths are weak or fabricated, whilst others have said it is because they are repeated elsewhere in the book. Are any of these answers correct? Or is there a different reason? And whatever the reason is, is there a source or proof that can be used to back this explanation up? :sl:

  9. Who Will Win World Cup 2007

Being English, I really hope England can pull a cricketing miracle out of the bag. However, I have a sneaking suspicion New Zealand could win it this year. The Cricket World Cup has a history of dark horses coming through, and New Zealand are in some good form right now. Australia have too many injuries plus their best players have all retired.

  13. Islam In Wales

£5M Masjid on way to capital Aug 9 2005 Steve Tucker, South Wales Echo A SPECTACULAR new £5m Masjid is set to be built in Cardiff. Plans have been unveiled for the new Madina Masjid, which will be the largest in Wales and one of the biggest in the UK. When it is completed, the state-of-the-art building, which will be built in Woodville Road, Cathays, will have four minarets piercing the skies and a domed prayer hall capable of housing more than 3,000 worshippers. There will be underground parking for 130 cars, a religious school for children and an Islamic library. There will also be a community centre linked to the Masjid which will be open to all, regardless of their religion. This will include an enterprise centre where people can learn skills like computing and get advice on how to start their own businesses. There will also be an after-school homework club for children in the area. "This is a landmark building for Cardiff, Wales and the UK," said chairman of the Muslim Education and Welfare Society of Wales, Mohammad Javed. "The Muslim community wants to do something not just for itself, but for everyone in Cardiff. "It is a fantastic building, which looks set to become a tourist attraction." Built to showcase tradition Islamic architecture, the Masjid has been co-designed by a firm of architects from Cairo. It has already received planning permission and, following demolition of the existing Masjid on the Woodville Road site, work could start either in September or February. It will take one year to build. Donations totalling £1.5m have already been received, including a number of £25,000 donations from individuals. It is hoped the total cost of building will be covered by donations, although elders have not ruled out applying for public funding if there is a shortfall. n To make a donation to the new Madina Masjid visit www.madinamosque.com.uk, or write to Madina Masjid 163-167 Woodville Road, Cathays, Cardiff, CF24 4NE.
