  1. Would You Marry Yourself?

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu One of the first things that most people think about when preparing for or thinking about marriage, are the characteristics or qualities of the person they would like to marry. Some people think about how they want their potential husband or wife to look - perhaps they think about such things as hair and skin color. Some men may look for a wife who is an excellent cook, and some women may look for a husband who is very religious. Many Muslims nowadays look for a wife or husband that is conversant in the Arabic language, or someone that is at least a student of Arabic. Nonetheless, most people, Muslims included, seem to go to great lengths to make elaborate lists, either on paper or in their minds, about all the things they want or expect from their potential husband or wife. And while this is good and perhaps a very necessary part of the marriage search, few people ever sit down, and with the same purposefulness and care, enumerate their own qualities and characteristics or think about whether they, themselves, are the kind of people that someone else with just as high expectations or ideals would want to marry. Think outside of yourself for a moment: If you were someone else, would you marry you? I don’t mean you, as you would like to see yourself weeks, months or even years from now. Nor do I mean you as you imagine yourself after you have had a chance to change a few of your bad habits, improve your character, fix yourself up, or you after you begin to practice your religion more seriously. I mean you, as you are TODAY. I believe that if some people were to be completely honest with themselves, they would have to admit that they, themselves, do not possess the kind of qualities or characteristics they would want in a husband or wife. Perhaps we all know of someone like this – possibly a relative, a best friend or maybe this person is YOU. For two people who are experienced at it, marriage, at best, can be difficult. It requires patience, diplomacy, perseverance, flexibility, wisdom, and endurance, just to name a few things. Does this mean that if someone does not possess ALL of these qualities they should not get married? No, I don’t mean to say this. However, there are people that I have come across that are in a desperate race to get married; while at the same time they possess characteristics of selfishness, stubbornness, inflexibility, insensitivity, and ingratitude. They are overly critical of other people while at the same time they have difficulty accepting criticism of themselves. And they have poor communication skills. On top of all of that, they may be in denial and won’t face up to the fact that they have a *few* personality defects to iron out before getting married. Do any of these characteristics describe you or someone you know that is looking for a wife or a husband? Has anyone ever told YOU that you possess any of these characteristics? Marriage is so serious an affair that I would dare say that if someone looking to get married possesses some or all of these qualities, they may be headed for big trouble. Or, should I say anyone that marries a person like this might be in very, very big trouble? The question then becomes: Does a person who possesses these kinds of shortcomings have to wait years before getting married? I would say the answer is no. Someone like this doesn’t have to wait years to get married. Allah, The Sublime, says in the Quran that He will never change the condition of a people until they first change what is inside of them. This ayah offers hope - hope of a new tomorrow. Isn’t that what most people want? They want to know that whatever difficulties they are facing today, a change is on the horizon for tomorrow. However, it does not only offer hope. It offers hope on a condition. That condition is that we have to take the first step to recognize that we have a problem and then do something about it. Can a man who is a drunk ever become sober unless he recognizes that he has a problem? And can a man that is insensitive, inflexible, stubborn, ungrateful, rigid, and selfish ever be a good husband? Someone who is in denial about their faults will never be able to change their negative pattern of behavior until they first recognize and ADMIT that they have a problem. Once you can admit that you have a problem, the next step is to begin working diligently and consistently on your problem or negative characteristics. The key words here are working diligently AND consistently. As any doctor will tell you, a patient has to be diligent and consistent about taking their medicine in order to see good results. Couple this prescription that Allah gives us in the Quran with prayer and strong faith, InshaAllah, you can overcome any problem. If after taking a good long, honest look at yourself in the mirror you cannot honestly say that you would make a good husband or wife in your present condition, then before you pick up the pen to enumerate a list of all the fine qualities you are looking for in a wife or husband, instead, why not list some of the qualities that you need to work on, and then embark on a program to change these bad qualities so that someday soon when Allah does bless you with a good wife or husband you will be worthy of such a person? After all, isn’t the divorce rate high enough already?
  2. How Smart Are You

When I was small I liked to play the following game to tease others: The name of the game: The Game You Can Never Solve. I put my finger at the wall and asked what is that? They answer: Wall But I replied with: No! This is wall-paint. I put my finger on at a tree and I asked what is that? They answer correctly with tree. But I say "wrong, it is wood. I put my finger in the water and asked what is that? They answer: water, but I say "no, it is wet" Your riddle is like the following example: I point to a fire and ask them what it is. They reply with "Fire", but I tell them that they are incorrect, because it is "hot".
  3. How Smart Are You

If cats and the kittens are real living beings with four legs and if the backpacks are separate backpacks, and the bus does not drive without bus driver then the answer must be 10990 or 10992 including the bus driver. If the cats are just pictures then their are only 14 legs of the girls and 2 legs of the bus driver. Then the answer is of course different. Maybe one of the girls is the bus driver? If the the backpacks are not separate and they are put together so that they are actually 7 in one then each then the answer is of course different. If the legs of the chairs are counted also then we should have the number of chairs and legs. I expect that the cats are real and the backpacks are really 7 different backpacks per girl. Give the answer now! it is time to answer if you know.

  5. Fearing Jinn

Asalaam alaikum warahmatulahi wabarakatuh You should know that the Jinn fear humans, particularly people with strong faith in Allah. It was related that the Jinn were frightened of `Umar and Abû Hurayrah. Ibn Abî al-Dunyâ related that Mujâhid (the tabi'i) said: “While I was praying one night, somebody from among the Jinn, resembling a boy, stood in front of me and when I tried to grab him he jumped over the wall and I heard the noise of his fall. Then he never approached me again.†Then he said: “They (the Jinn) fear you as you fear them. But they fear you more than you fear them. If someone is approached by one of the Jinn, he should not fear him. Otherwise, they will pounce on him. But, if he confronts them, they will flee.†[Wiqâyah al-Insân min al-Jinn wa al-Shaytân page 33] You should not fear the Jinn. Allah says: “It is only the Satan that suggested to you the fear of his votaries: be ye not afraid of them, but fear me if ye have faith†[sûrah Âl-`Imrân: 175]
  6. How Smart Are You

    Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu I got the number 11832 (including the bus driver). Girls: 7*2=14 legs Backpacks/Girl: 7*7=49 0 legs Bus Driver: 1*2=2 legs Big Cats: 7 cats * 49 backpacks = 343 cats * 4 = 1372 Small Cats: 323*7=2611 cats * 4 = 10444 14+0+2+1372+10444=11832 legs
  7. Heaven According To Muslims

God Almighty created two places which are hell and paradise. Both already existed before Adam was even created. Hellfire is a real place and paradise is a real place and the exist right now in the physical world. This is not a spiritual world, but physical. Our state of mind is of course spiritual, but the place is not a dream, but as real as this planet earth. We just cannot see paradise and hell because they are veiled by the Seven Heavens. If the seven heavens were removed then we could see paradise from earth, but we can't because Outer Space and the other six heavens are between earth and paradise. Paradise is different from earth in four aspects: 1. Purity 2. Duration/Time 3. Quantity 4. Quality Purity: Everything in Paradise is pure. The soil of Paradise will be white shining pure musk with a wonderful scent that pleases you increasingly. You don't find filth on the ground and you don't find insects and bugs crawling around. Everything that you consider gross in this life will not be there. When we eat food and drink beverages, we don't have to relieve ourselves afterwards. All the fluids and filth that comes out of the body now does not exist in paradise. When we have sexual relationship it is for pleasure alone and there are not children involved. This relationship is not to expand the family, but just for the pleasure alone. Those fluids that exist now will not exist in Paradise. Nothing slimy. There are not diseases nor germs that could cause us to be sick. The hearts of the human being will be pure and there will be not ill feeling towards anyone. Duration/Time: Life in paradise is infinite without a break. We might sit on the bench and watch a flower for a year. One sexual enjoyment can last for 80 years without us to feel exhausted. We don't have any appointments whatsoever. Quantity: Everything in paradise is multifold. There is not end and the longer we are in paradise the more we get. The reward and the peace increases with time and there is no end because life in Jannah does not have any end. Food will be unlimited. Drink will be unlimited. We can eat the whole world and we are not even full or exhausted. The properties are going to be highly exaggerated, because someone may have property which have distances that can be measured in light years. The lowest level in paradise is ten times the earth. The spouses are multiplied as well. Quality: We have rivers of milk, water, honey and wine, but their quality is much different than that on earth. We cannot grasp the reality in paradise because it is so different. The only resemblance is in the name. There will be not nights and no sleep, because there will be constant daylight. Human beings will have large sizes in paradise - 90 yards. Life in paradise only gets better with the passage of time and there is no boredom whatsoever.
  8. The Issue Of Halal Meat

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu Christians are still the people of the book and they are kuffar. However, we are allowed to eat their meat and we don't even have to ask them how they slaughtered the cattle or other animal. If we have the knowledge that the animal was slaughtered in an unislamic fashion then this is another story. A proof that Christians are still people of the book is that in Qur'an they are warned against the Trinity and against believing in the Sonship of Jesus. In the future we know that Isa ben Maryam alayhissalam will give the people (Christians and Jews) the choice between Islam or war. He is going to abolish Jizya.

  10. The Terrible Blasphemy Of Paul

The torah is the revelation that was revealed to Moses, alayhissalam, the psalms were revelations revealed to David, alayhissalam, and the injil (gospel) was revealed to Jesus. These revelations are true. We know that Marcion edited the works of Paul and Luke.
  11. The Terrible Blasphemy Of Paul

Marcion was an infamous heretic of the second century Church (although who wasn’t back then). He was born in Asia Minor, where his dad was believed to be a bishop from the region of Pontus. He became rich off shipbuilding, and at some point ended up in Rome where by the mid second century, his theological viewpoints were rejected and he formally left the Church. The problem with Marcion’s teachings was this: 1.) He rejected all the Jewish Scriptures, and all the gospels except Luke, which he edited and Paul’s pastoral letters. 2.) Since he rejected the Old Testament wrath of God as incompatible with the loving message of Jesus he adopted the Gnostic view that the God of the Old Testament was in fact an evil God, a “demiurge.†3.) Therefore there was an evil God from the Old Testament, and God the Father who sent Jesus to save us from Judaism and its oppressive laws. 4.) On top of this duality, Marcion required a very ascetic lifestyle since the body was the creation of the evil God and therefore evil itself. 5.) This ascetic lifestyle was combined with dietary rules (sounds pretty Jewish to me Marcion), which forbade the consumption of sexual foods, such as milk, and all meat except fish. Marcion’s teachings seem Gnostic with a mix of Docetism, but he really does deserve to be in a category of his own, mainly because of what he did with the Scriptures. Unlike the Gnostics who added gospels to their works, Marcion drastically reduced the number of acceptable written texts, and not only that, but he put them into a handy dandy booklet called the Apostolicon. You would think that Marcion would just found a heretical school like everyone else at the time, but no, he founded his own separate Church (eee gats!!!). It had its own bishops and everything. With the handiness of his shortened Christian account, combined with his effective administration and his boatloads of money, Marcion’s church was soon a rival to the rest of the Church and spread throughout the Roman Empire lasting for a couple of centuries. So what is Marcion’s legacy? He certainly made heresy a real threat not just to the intellectual debates going on in the Church, but also to the Church’s unity. In many ways, he hastened and solidified a process that was already taking place. The standard system of bishop, presbyter, and deacon, which is popularized in Ignatius of Antioch’s letters, now became crucial for maintaining apostolic authority throughout the Church. The four gospels and epistles of Paul, which were long considered accurate accounts of the life of Jesu and found in any Church’s library, were now were considered the standard and norm for use within the liturgy. Creeds, such as the Old Roman Creed, which claims its origins from the Twelve Apostles and those creeds said at baptism, became a popular way to prevent and combat heresy from spreading in the Church. Although the canon would not be officially closed until the Council of Trent and the Creed of Nicea not formulated until the reign of Constantine two centuries later, Marcion certainly made both an inevitable event.

  14. The Terrible Blasphemy Of Paul

Assalamu Alaykum I would be careful to blame Paul, because we don't know if the writings really originate from Paul. The name Paul is used as the author but cannot be sure if this name is really the person who wrote such falsehoods. I usually say that whoever wrote such texts are innovators and promoting falsehood. We also only have translations from those texts. Enemies may just use the names of the Hawareen to destroy their reputation. Some passages of the bible are very Gnostic in nature and I assume that Gnostics are responsible and influenced the Bible. Gnostics have themselves different sects. Some are mixed with Judaism and other are mixed with Christianity. Christian Gnostics have influenced the scriptures. We know that Marcion was in charge of editing the letters of Paul and Luke. Many herecies in the bible I also read in Gnostic writings. There even Gnostic scriptures such as the Apocalypse of Paul among the Gnostic writings etc. The defaming of Abraham and other prophet is part of the Gnostic Religion.

  17. Five Things Only Rasoolallah (saw) Was Given

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu Sahih Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 3, Number 98: Narrated Abu Huraira: I said: "O Allah's Apostle! Who will be the luckiest person, who will gain your intercession on the Day of Resurrection?" Allah's Apostle said: O Abu Huraira! "I have thought that none will ask me about it before you as I know your longing for the (learning of) Hadiths. The luckiest person who will have my intercession on the Day of Resurrection will be the one who said sincerely from the bottom of his heart "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah." Volume 1, Book 11, Number 588: Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever after listening to the Adhan says, 'Allahumma Rabba hadhihi-d-da' watit-tammati was-salatil qa'imati, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wal-fadilata, wab' athhu maqaman mahmudan-il-ladhi wa' adtahu (O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (of not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established! Kindly give Muhammad the right of intercession and superiority and send him (on the Day of Judgment) to the best and the highest place in Paradise which You promised him)', then intercession for me will be permitted for him on the Day of Resurrection"). Volume 2, Book 24, Number 553: Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar The Prophet said, "A man keeps on asking others for something till he comes on the Day of Resurrection without any piece of flesh on his face." The Prophet added, "On the Day of Resurrection, the Sun will come near (to, the people) to such an extent that the sweat will reach up to the middle of the ears, so, when all the people are in that state, they will ask Adam for help, and then Moses, and then Muhammad (p.b.u.h) ." The sub-narrator added "Muhammad will intercede with Allah to judge amongst the people. He will proceed on till he will hold the ring of the door (of Paradise) and then Allah will exalt him to Maqam Mahmud (the privilege of intercession, etc.). And all the people of the gathering will send their praises to Allah. Volume 6, Book 60, Number 3: Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, "On the Day of Resurrection the Believers will assemble and say, 'Let us ask somebody to intercede for us with our Lord.' So they will go to Adam and say, 'You are the father of all the people, and Allah created you with His Own Hands, and ordered the angels to prostrate to you, and taught you the names of all things; so please intercede for us with your Lord, so that He may relieve us from this place of ours.' Adam will say, 'I am not fit for this (i.e. intercession for you).' Then Adam will remember his sin and feel ashamed thereof. He will say, 'Go to Noah, for he was the first Apostle, Allah sent to the inhabitants of the earth.' They will go to him and Noah will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking.' He will remember his appeal to his Lord to do what he had no knowledge of, then he will feel ashamed thereof and will say, 'Go to the Khalil--r-Rahman (i.e. Abraham).' They will go to him and he will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking. Go to Moses, the slave to whom Allah spoke (directly) and gave him the Torah .' So they will go to him and he will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking.' and he will mention (his) killing a person who was not a killer, and so he will feel ashamed thereof before his Lord, and he will say, 'Go to Jesus, Allah's Slave, His Apostle and Allah's Word and a Spirit coming from Him. Jesus will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking, go to Muhammad the Slave of Allah whose past and future sins were forgiven by Allah.' So they will come to me and I will proceed till I will ask my Lord's Permission and I will be given permission. When I see my Lord, I will fall down in Prostration and He will let me remain in that state as long as He wishes and then I will be addressed.' (Muhammad!) Raise your head. Ask, and your request will be granted; say, and your saying will be listened to; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted.' I will raise my head and praise Allah with a saying (i.e. invocation) He will teach me, and then I will intercede. He will fix a limit for me (to intercede for) whom I will admit into Paradise. Then I will come back again to Allah, and when I see my Lord, the same thing will happen to me. And then I will intercede and Allah will fix a limit for me to intercede whom I will let into Paradise, then I will come back for the third time; and then I will come back for the fourth time, and will say, 'None remains in Hell but those whom the Quran has imprisoned (in Hell) and who have been destined to an eternal stay in Hell.' " (The compiler) Abu 'Abdullah said: 'But those whom the Qur'an has imprisoned in Hell,' refers to the Statement of Allah: "They will dwell therein forever." 20. Acquiring Knowledge

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu Imam Al Shafi'ee grew up in Makkah and despite his honorable ancestry, led a life of poverty and orphanhood. Poverty coupled with honorable ancestry make a person well mannered, and dignified. Honorable ancestry causes one to aspire to great matters, while poverty helps one to empathize with people and understand the intricacies of society. All of which are important to anyone who is going to undertake a job dealing with the public. In Makkah he used to frequent Al Masjid Al Haraam listening to scholars with extreme interest. He was so poor that he could not afford the price of paper, and he would collect bones, pieces of pottery and the like to write on, and used to say: "No one succeeds in acquiring knowledge except those who seek it in hardship (financial or other) and I used to be unable to afford the price of notebooks".

  22. Obama's First Pick: Israeli Rahm Emanuel

Assalamu Alaykum I hope that Nile_Salafy is wrong, but I fear that his answer is valid. I personally only look at what an individual is doing and I don't punish anyone just because his father was evil. I believe in the individual accountability and that everybody is responsible for his own action. By the way, Allah knows everything and we put out trust in Allah. Whatever happens the Qadar of Allah cannot change. Allah already decreed what happens and what will happen. Therefore, we should not be to concerned about it. We just need to make sure that we are prepared when something bad happens.
  23. The Hypocrite Exposed

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahee wa Barakatu Hypocrites may appear in the cloaks of a Muslim wearing thowb and turban, but in their hearts they are evil and wicked. I like that you pointed out that there is a distinction between Kuffar and Munafiqeen. Technically the munafiqeen are believer which means that they have the knowledge in the deed and they know Qur'an and Sunnah and they are exposed to the truth all the time. Their knowledge is their and usually this knowledge is the path to Islam and Righteousness, but in case of them it is the path to destruction. I would quote the following saying from Imam Al Shafi'ee: "One who does not protect himself will not benefit from his knowledge." They use their knowledge to deceive the people and most importantly they refuse to submit to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. When you find out that God Exists and you start believing in the existing of Allah then you sign a contract with Allah to believe in Tawheed. Once you believe in Tawheed that there is only One God then you sign a covenant of Islam which means we submit to Allah and to His Instructions. When we agree to submit to Allah then we sign another contract which stipulates that we have to submit to Allah according to Allah's Terms and not according to our own desires. This means that we have to follow his Messenger, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and the first three generations. I just called them "believers" to make a destinction between Kafir and Munafiq. Kafir is someone who disbelieves in the Message and Messenger and openly makes known of his disbelief. The Muslims knew that Abu Jahl was their enemy, but they did not know that Abdullah ibn Ubay was their enemy because of his underground works. He was a companion in public, but a treacherous traitor and deceiver in secret. Imagine there are three trees: 1. The tree of the Believer would be a tree that bear a lot of fruits and these fruits benefit the people and the birds etc. The tree may or may not look beautiful from the outside, but the fruits are very beneficial and very delicious and give a lot of nutrition. The greater the Iman and Righteousness the greater the Quality of the Fruits. 2. The tree of the Kafir would be a tree that is rotten or dried out by the famine or it is tree that don't bear any fruits. Or is it a tree that bears fruits, but these fruits are not beneficial because they are either filled with worms etc. or rotten. 3. The tree of the Munafiq would be a tree that looks very beautiful from the outside and their fruits are marsha'Allah looking very delicious and taste. They have very beautifully colored fruits. However, if a person eats such fruits they get sick or die because these fruits are poisonous/toxic. You only find out about the treacherous by realizing that you get sick. Before you were praising that tree. Imagine there are three flowers: 1. The flower of the believer is the one that is very beneficial. The bees benefits from its blossoms and they extract the nectar from it and they produce honey which we may enjoy. 2. The flower of the disbeliever is like weed or chaff which we dig and throw in the trash or burn it in the fire. The bee does not benefit from this flower and is not even interested in that flower. This flower could be a thistle. 3. The flower of the hypocrite would be as follows. The bee sees this beautiful flower and get attracted so badly that she wants to land on it to extract the nectar. What the bee does not know is that it was a carnivorous plant such as a sundew and as soon the bee lands on it, it is trapped because it is very sticky like glue and then the bee is eaten by that plant. Salam
  24. Apology Thread

Assalamu Alaykunna Sisters, Assalamu Alaykum Brothers This is an apology thread where we can apologize each other for whatever happened between us. Discussion can be heated up and sometimes lead to arguments and even accusations. Sometimes, we all have a hot temper and this is something natural. Even Abu Bakr As Siddiq, radi Allahu anhu, had a hot temper and when he was in such a temper he told his people to avoid him in such moments so that he does not hurt anyone. If this is happen to Abu Bakr then it also can happen to us. Abu Bakr As Siddiq knew how to behave if he was in a hot tempered and he always apologized for everything. Therefore, with this thread I want to give everyone the chance to apologize to whomever. It might be IF in general or the members in general or a specific person. I found a similar thread in another forum and I thought it would be very useful in this forum as well. This comes from my heart and I wish you, brothers and sisters, the following: May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make it happen that the best of your deeds be the last one, but not the best from among the bad, but the best from among the best. May Allah make the best of your life the end of it, but not the best from among the bad, but from among the best. May Allah make the best of your days the Day of Meeting Allah. May you all stand before Allah on the Day of Reckoning and Allah will tell you that he will never be annoyed with you from this day on. May Allah make it easy for you to cross the traverse As-Siratal Mustaqeem crossing over hellfire with the blink of the eye or at least in the speed of light. May you be allowed to be invited from all of the Eight Gates of Jannah. May Allah rescue all of you and your families from the punishment of the grave and may Allah make the grave a peaceful resting place for you where you sleep peacefully dreaming about Jannah. May Allah rescue all of you and your families from the punishment of hellfire and make it easy for you on the Day of Judgement. You my brothers and sisters are most valuable. I apologize to IF and everyone for any shortcoming and mistakes during discussions especially if I hurt anyone unintentionally. I ask Brother Abdul_Aziz to accept my apology for the things I did long time ago when I became a member 2005. Probably, he does not visit this site anymore, but in case he reads this, I ask him to accept my apology. It is your turn. Remember, Shaytaanir Rajeem hates when we do this. Saying good words to brothers and sisters is a weapon against Shaytaan.
  25. Obama's First Pick: Israeli Rahm Emanuel

Assalamu Alaykum Just because someone is a son of an oppressor, does not mean that he himself is bad. We need to wait what happens. Just to attack someone because he comes from a certain country is not Islamic at all. We need to remember that the son of Ibn Sayyad in Madeenah was a very righteous Muslim and a scholar although his father was a wicked man and a Dajjaal Suspect. What counts are the actions of people not nationalities and names. Not all Jews are israeli and not all israeli are Jews and not all Jew are Zionists and not all Zionists are Jews and not all israeli are Zionists and not all Zionists are israeli. Rabin was an example that not all israeli are evil. We should judge someone according to his actions not race, nationality, and other things.
