Salam Brother would you mind if I forward some of your stories to some friends. I don't want to without your approval, you are a great writter masha Allah
  2. :D :D that you found your way. I am also a revert and you will learn something new every day, I revert just over two years and i'm still learning something new all the time. I'm so happy for you :D . I'll advice one thing, if you have any question post them also ask for proof from the Quran or Sunnah before you just accept. Also there are many brother and sister that will help you, look for a Masjid in your area and get to know some sisters, you will be surprised as how welcome you are. When I took my Shahadah I went to my husband's aunts Masjid they didn't know me but the welcomed me with out question. Put your trust in Allah and you will recieve help in your learning
  3. What Has Changed?

Islam, Muslims. What do you think when you hear those words? Do you think terrorists, people who enslave their wives, or people who hate others not following them? Do you think this because of what you hear on the TV, read in the paper, or hear on the streets? Did you ever try and learn more about what Islam stands for? I was in college in my disability and society class when I heard about the World Trade Towers. I was shocked at what I was hearing; I couldn’t believe it was happening. I prayed for the families of those that died, for those that were suffering, for those that were trapped. I went to church services in honor of them and to pray for them. I prayed that those who died who be forgiven for their sins through Jesus. I hear that Islamic Terrorists were responsible for the attack. I didn’t understand why they would do it and kill so many people for all over the world. That was the first time I also heard about Islam. When I was in High school I tried to fit in. I went to parties, I dated, but I never was into drinking alcohol. I was in Band, studied hard, and was a cheerleader. I did everything that a normal High school student did. In 2002 I met a man that I decided to marry. He was from a different country, culture and religion. He was Muslim. After 9/11 I hear bad things about Islam, but I was taught not to judge a person by religion, culture or anything else but personality. I knew him and I loved him, so I decided to marry him. I learnt about Islam do I could understand it better and in a way understand my husband better. My husband was respectful of my religion supported me in going to church. I read more and more on Islam and the more I agreed with it. I converted to Islam on my own, with NO pressure from anyone. I choose to wear hijab on my own. I summit to Allah alone. When I was Christian I was one of you, accepted. Now that I’m Muslim I’m different. I’m not someone that can be accepted in the society. What has change about my personality? Nothing, I’m the same person that I was when I was Christian. I just wear different clothes and my religion changed. Religion doesn’t change who I am as a person. So now why am I treated differently? Why now do people discriminate against me? I am person with feeling just like you, with hopes and dreams. Why now am I different? Ayesha Farooq
  4. Prayer

Salam, I was talking to my husband about prayer today trying to get him to pray with me instead of going out with friends. He told me that he prays ALL the prayers at night. Which I don't know because he gets home after I'm in bed, but is this allowed? I mean even if he knows that it's time to pray but doesn't because he's meeting friends. I'm confused about this because I don't know a lot about Islam yet and still am learning but I thought that we had to pray on time and if we did accidentally missed prayer than we should make it up at the first chance we get. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  5. Need Some Help/info

Salam I would like to ask all other reverts for some information. I am doing a paper and I would like to know some exact details that lead to your revert to Islam. I won't use any exact instants but I'll generalize everything. You can Privite msg me or write here. Any information will help thanks.
  6. Need Information

:D I need some suggests on books. I'm trying to learn more about the basics of Islam and gain an better understanding on it. I'm also want to learn the history of Islam. I have some book but my problem is that none of them have proofs or evidences from the Quran or hadiths. I ask of you brothers and sisters for help in finding books that have these. I know they are out there but I don't know of any. Please any help will be appreciated. Take care :D
  7. Need Help And Advice

Salam I have been having trouble with some things. I reverted over a 1 1/2 ago and I still don't pray 5 times, some times I don't at all. I try and read the quran and learn it but hardly do that. The major problem I have is I don't have anyone to help me. My husband who is a born muslim, doesn't pray or read the quran and does some things that are not adviced in Islam. He also gets mad at me about wearing an jibab or with me doing a lot of things that Islam suggests. I try to improve but it's hard. Sometimes when I read the Quran, he interupts me and then I can't concentrate. I really want to improve but I'm having sooooo much difficulty because I have to completely change a lot of my ways but I it's so hard right now. I wish that I was around people that were practicing muslims so i can learn from them and be able to continue once I'm not with them. Please can anyone advice me on what to do, Please I'm sooo fustrated and discouraged, I really need to know what I should do.
  8. Marrying A Revert?

Salam As being an American revert and married to a pakistani Muslim, I will say that it has been a journey thought out the marriage. One his family, who still live in Pakistan accept me as there own daughter. Two culture did get in the way. You see some desi men won't help with the house, but since you are willing to you may have no problems. The only advice I have to give if you marry a revert is that with two different cultures you both have to learn to forget culture and live by Islam. If you can do that you both will be happy insha Allah.
  9. How To Answer An Athiest

salam It depends on the question. I know that they don't believe in God, and they believe in everything with science. On some of the things that they are asking you, you could asked them what they think about it and try and show them with their own answers that they come to a question which they can not answer. The one thing I can think about is evolution, they believe that we came from apes. Well if we change over time why do we not see the steps now, why do we only have apes and humans and nothing inbetween. What made the change stop, if it happened earlier why is it not happening now. It will get them thinking about when you get to the point where they can't answer or don't know, then you can explain what Islam says. I hopr this helps, I know some times it get frustrating but stay strong and insha Allah thing will work out.
  10. I Want To Wear An Hijab But...

Salam I'm glad you are deciding to wear hijab. When I first started to wear mine, I was discouraged and left it for awhile. At the time I didn't know that it was mandatory, I knew that it was better that we did. Once I found that we had to I wore it. I still have problem especially when I return to my parents home, because of the area being all Christian and my family being Christian. I do wear it there and get alot of comments but I wouldn't give it up. I unfortunitly I don't go to my parent's home that much because of it. They usually come to me. May Allah help you by making it easier for you. Once they get use to it you shouldn't have problem insha Allah.
  11. What Do You Think Happend On Sept, 11 2001

Salam You say that no one is blaming but everyone is blame tr.v. blamed, blam•ing, blames 1. To hold responsible. 2. To find fault with; censure. 3. To place responsibility for (something): blamed the crisis on poor planning. If you HOLD Bush Responible you are blaming him, if you HOLD Al Qaida RESPONSIBLE then you are blaming them. Also you are debating if civilians are allowed to get killed in war. WHY are you debating this? Some of you it like you are OK with collateral damage, with civilians being killed. I’m sorry but this is not something we should be talking about. You see, this war is NOT done in the name of Islam, so why are we talking about if it’s ok or not. NONE OF IT IS OK. Yes the prophets went to war, but they were doing it to save Islam. They NEVER went out and killed people over land, over resources. They did it DEFENDING Islam. We cannot compare them to this. Islam means peace. “…take not life, which God hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.†[Al-Qur’an 6:151] “…if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.†[Al-Qur’an 5:32] “And why should ye not fight in the cause of God and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? - Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!" [Al-Qur’an 4:75] Was this for people who being weak are ill-treated and oppressed? Please ask yourself that and if you can say YES then why haven’t all Muslim countries joined? Why are you being in what the Quran says what the Prophet did what great Muslims did in the name of Allah, when this has nothing to do with that, it had to do with land and resources, it has to do with POWER. Regardless of how legitimate the cause may be, the Qur’an never condones the killing of innocent people. I would like to see proof where it says you can kill an innocent person in war. Instructions of the Prophet are as follows: "Do not kill any old person, any child or any woman"[1]. "Do not kill the monks in monasteries" or "Do not kill the people who are sitting in places of worship."[2] [1] Narrated in the collection of traditions of Abu Dawud [2] Narrated in the Musnad of Imam Ibn Hanbal Now please tell me how can we argue this, how can we even think that what is happening and what happen is allowed by Allah, even if you are just following the principle of war in Islam, it still goes against it. Please show me your proof.
  12. What Do You Think Happend On Sept, 11 2001

Wait, I never said that Bush was behind the attack, I blame him for what he did after. I DON'T KNOW WHO WAS BEHIND IT. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding
  13. What Do You Think Happend On Sept, 11 2001

salam, I am not voting because one, I'm not sure who is actually behind the attacks. I know that Satan is behind it and that's all. I woke up in the morning from school and saw it on the news, I had family in the area. That was before my revertion, I think that Bush has made mistakes, that information was not followed up, that this could have been prevented to some extent. I personally blame the Bush administration and who ever was behind that attack. The is strong evidence that an attack was going to happen and nothing was done about it. This is why I definently blame the Bush administration, I also blame them for the actions that he took, because some of it was done without enough information, he jump into this in a way. He also is ignoring his own country to attack others. I DON'T THINK WAR WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE. He is going around killing others that are innocent. The attacks were horrible, and the person behind them should be punished. Have they even found that person, NO. Right now they are too busy fighting. I agree that we should blame those when we ourselve don't know for sure. We should stand together against all terrorism and against wars, when we can do things peacefully. Islam is about PEACE, so why are we fight with each other over what happened on 9/11. As of right now we should not concern ourselve with this, we should be spending our time make this world a better place to live in!!!! We need to remember those who have died from terrorist acts, from the war, from natural distasters, and those who die because they don't have the resources to survive in this world. That is what we should do instead of debating what happened on 9/11. I personally am sick of people forgetting about everything that is happening in the World and blaming people for things WITHOUT know about it. Both side have a point, you can find videos, photos, and evidence to support both side, but how do WE KNOW that those haven't been tampered with, WE DON'T. So stop arguing about it and start making a change in your home, neighborhood, city, country and make this a better world for the children who will one day replace us. I don't mean to offend anyone or insult any view please don't take it that way.

  15. How Did You Feel When You Realized

Salam I was the same way, I always question that Jesus was god. I questioned it to my pastor and all he said is that is what we believe without question. I even found areas in the bible that made me question it even more, like when Jesus prayed to the father asking him to not have him die on the cross. I was always thinking if he was god then he wouldn't have to ask he could just make it happen. Also if there are three gods in one, they all do different things and you get the idea that the father is more important, how can they not argue and why do you need three parts if one could do it all by themselves. I had so many doubt and questions and was just told that it's what believe without question. When I met my husband he first introduced me to Islam. The more I learnt the more I realized that this is the truth and all my questions were answered. I felt more at peace when I accepted Islam then I ever felt before.
