  1. UCLU Islamic Society presents Engagement before Encagement Marriage - n. completion of half the Deen, the union of two souls in the sight of Allah SWT, and an amazing journey to lifelong fulfilment in Deen and Dunya. ‘And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves partners that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for those who reflect.’ (Surah Ar-Rum, Ayah 21) In Islam, the married husband and wife complete each other - together they make a single self and this is how they must strive to make their lives together and please Allah SWT. It is often said that "marriages are celebrated on earth but settled in heaven" - but in this day and age, with so many different messages from the media, and movies or from families and friends, the topic of marriage can be confusing. When will I find my spouse? How will I find my husband/wife? For married couples who have already found each other, perhaps all is not as they first expected. Why isn't my life that fairytale romance? Why this...why that? To answer these questions and learn more about finding true happiness in marriage, join UCL ISoc for a two-day weekend course exploring marriage in Islam. Renowned Al-Maghrib instructor, Sheikh Dr. Reda Bedeir will cover the fiqh of marriage, gender relations, how to find a spouse, as well as how to live and work through the challenges marriage may bring. 11. Time Crunch

The Inevitable: Death - Sheikh Alomgir Abdul Aleem[using large font size is not allowed] When Allah sends the Angle of Death to collect your soul, will we be ready? "Just another day. Just another day" we'll helplessly utter but when the time comes no respite shall be granted. We all know that we will one day die. Death is the only absolute certainty that we know of. Are we preparing for it as we ought to be? Sheikh Alomgir Abdul Aleem will give an inspiring and hope-filled talk on the certainty of Death and the lack of time and how we should be taking active steps to prepare for this certainty. An talk, no doubt, that will re-ignite the zeal within all attendees to prepare for the meeting with their Lord. The Time is Now: Journey to Islam[using large font size is not allowed] Thursday 3rd December Wilkins Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre Exclusive Special: Loon & Muslim Belal He had it all. The money. The fame. The glamour. But something still didn't feel quite right. Amir Junaid Muuhadith, born Chauncey Lamot Hawkins, was an African-American rapper formerly part of P.Diddy's BadBoy Records. He went by his stage name, Loon, where he released dozens of hit R&B and Hip Hop songs as well as releasing his self-titled debut album: Loon. Despite his phenomonal success, Loon wasn't quite satisfied with life. A deep, feeling of melancholy lingered in the pit of his stomach craving only one thing: Peace. Peace of mind and peace of heart. This awe-inspiring talk will feature Loon, Amir Junaid Muuhadith, recollecting his journey before and after BadBoy records and how his search for true peace led him to the religion of Islam. This is a SPECIAL event where all myths and misconceptions regarding the glitzy life of fame will be quelled and you will receive a true and unpparralled insight as to why anyone would leave a life of apparent 'success' for a life of utter simplicity. Bonus Seminar: When Adam met Eve - Sheikh Abu Imran Al-Sharkisy[using large font size is not allowed] Our beloved Propeht (PBUH) has said "When a man marries, he has fulfilled half of his religion, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half." Marriage is something often downplayed and trivialised by today's Muslim youth but, by Allah, if we knew of the blessings contained therein we would all race to complete half our deen (religion). This marriage talk by Sheikh Abu Imran will cite the many blessings of Marriage and how it is incumbent upon each and every believer. What characteristics one should look for in a spouse and how to have a successful marriage will also be talked about in depth. Sheikh Abu Imran's informative yet light-hearted approach to the topic of Marriage is an absolutely brilliant way to wrap the week of talks and leave us all feeling a little lighter and provide us with a refreshing outlook to the topic of Marriage.
