  1. That certainly answers my question; great job. It has always been something of a mystery to me as to why Muslims don't get more angry at the deaths of innocents especially from military actions that go wrong (incorrect targeting, missed targets etc.) I suppose it is because if they believe it is accidental then it must be Allah's doing. And whilst the grief of losing a loved one must be terrible at least they take comfort that it is Allah's will. It does lead me to ask the question; why don't all Muslims regard premature death in the same fatalistic and tolerant way? Your explanation seems fairly black and white but it seems to me that many Muslims don't share your views? Salam.
  2. Christian Terrorist Attack

SaracenSoldier, had Iraq not invaded Kuwait then they would not have been no Gulf war 1 and had Osam bin Laden's henchmen not hijacked planes full of people and crashed them in to buildings killing thousands of people Afghanistan and Iraq would not have invaded. Whether that is sufficient justification is open to debate but I think most of us would agree that those were the official reasons/excuses. Osam bin Laden and his followers ultimately caused more death and destruction to Muslims than they wreaked upon the USA. To say there is "a foreign policy of invading Muslim countries and killing Muslims" is quite simply ridiculous. It would be like someone suggesting that Saudi Arabia has a foreign policy of hijacking planes and flying them in to buildings. An over simplified view that someone trying to stir up resentment and anger may hold.
  3. 1. A Message To Richard Dawkins. (uk Athiest)

I don't really understand what you are saying. Are you saying I am immoral? Please tell me more about my immorality... How am I being obnoxious? Are you saying I am arrogant because I don't share your religious beliefs? I would argue that you are more arrogant for believing that Islam is the one true religion whilst rejecting every other one without proof that they are false. Prove to me that is Allah is the one true god and that every other one false and I will agree with you and convert to Islam. Actually, prove to me that any religion is wrong if you can. Even proving that fairies don't exist would be a good start. I'm a little puzzled as to why you post was so rude. Maybe I misunderstood? Salam.
  4. Famine In Somalia?

Great answer (as always :sl: ). One question though; if that is the case then why do Muslims get so upset when children (or other innocents) are killed at the hand of people (war, murder, genocide etc.)? One of the side effects of being an atheist is that I believe that everyone is unique, priceless and deserving of fulfilling, long life as free as possible from suffering. And I do mean everyone regardless of sex, race, creed or religious beliefs. Salam.
  5. Christian Terrorist Attack

The attacks of 9/11, 7/7 and many, many others were done by Muslims in the name of Islam In the case of failed attacks in London on 21 July 2005 the suicide bombers shouted "allahu akbar" before attempting to detonate their explosives. These terrorists often do religious videos beforehand making it very clear it is an attack on infidels in the name of Islam, I'm sure you must have seen some of them. As for Srebrenica being Christian genocide, maybe it was. I think it was racial but either way it is doesn't make the attacks in question not Islamic Terrorism.
  6. Noah's Ark

Ok, so the Qur'an tells us nothing of timescales from the flood to Muhammad's time (could have been 600 years, could be 15 billion years but obviously could not have pre-dated Adam and Eve) It seems a bit strange the Qur'an doesn't bother giving us some more information. I would have thought that Allah would have foreseen questions such as this and put them in the Qur'an to silence us infidels. But to my question about the number of species onboard; 50,000 spiders alone. How would Noah have collected all these let alone kept them alive and apart from each other?! Even male and female spiders would need to be kept apart so that's 100,000 cages or containers for the spiders alone. What about all the other invertebrates? 900,000 known insect species, that's nearly 2,000,000 individuals. Then there is mammals, birds, reptiles, worms (17,000 species of these) etc. Obviously evolution is regarded by Islam as untrue, so that can't explain anything. Are you referring to Pangaea? That was over 200,000,000 years ago..... way before Adam and Eve. There may be "a thousand explanations" so I would like to hear at least ten credible ones. Actually, one remotely credible one would be a good start. Can anyone on IF give a feasible explanation as to how Noah would have addressed the practicalities of catching, keeping and releasing the millions of animals that make up the know animal kingdom?
  7. Seems to me like you missed a few religions off your list. :sl: Sounds like you don't have a clue about what you truly believe in (religiously speaking.) Perhaps a spiritual humanist would be a better description? If you are going to follow the abrahamic religions then you must choose one as they are incompatible with each other. You can't cherry pick bits of different religions; you either believe or you don't. Ask yourself if you believe in the story of Noah's Ark (see my recent thread) and if you don't believe it 100% (including the hundreds of thousands of species that Noah must have had on board) then the Abrahamic ones are not for you. I know very little about Buddhism or the 1,000s of other religions but I would suggest you are better pursuing it rather than Islam, Christianity or Judaism. How about founding your own? That's been done by plenty of other people!
  8. Christian Terrorist Attack

SaracenSoldier, seriously, are you really trying to make a comparison between EDL and international Islamic terrorism? 9/11? 7/7? Come on, that would be absurd.
  9. Blessings Of Allah(swt) Are Descending On Somalia

As regards the video; there's really not much I can say. I would like to know where the figure of 500,000 children comes from. It seems like a truly shocking number and I would like to say that the loss or suffering of a single child is a tragedy. I don't recall any reports of the US forces rounding up children, putting them in camps then systematically killing them. That would be a more conventional way to commit mass-murder and genocide. Whilst I don't doubt that many innocent lives have been lost at the hands of coalition forces I'm sure the vast majority of are unintended or as a result of a "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality. What would you do if you if you were a soldier at a checkpoint with a car speeding towards you showing no sign of stopping? Can you give some examples of mass murder and/or genocide carried out in Iraq by the USA or other coalition forces? It is my belief that a huge number (if not the majority) of the civilian deaths in Iraq stem from terrorist actions (Sunni-Shia conflict) or from innocents inadvertently being caught in attacks on the coalition troops. I openly admit that I don't have any figures at this point as to the actual casualties and who was to blame. I don't think the Americans would regard themselves as the most peace-loving nation on earth but don't be too quick to criticise the whole nation for the acts of its government and armed forces. FYI, I am not American. I am British living permanently in Canada. Salam.
  10. Noah's Ark

To me, one of the most ludicrous stories of the Bible is that of Noah's Ark. It obvious to me that it is total garbage. That's not to say some guy didn't put a few animals on the boat during a flood but beyond that it doesn't make any rational sense. I have mentioned this in another post but there are around 40,000 know species of spider. If we guess at there being 50,000 then Noah would have to have collected 100,000 spiders alone from all parts of the world. Most species are unique to limited geographical areas and continents. How also did he manage to get all the animals back to their eventual homes (lemurs in Madagascar, marsupials in Australia, polar bears to the Arctic etc.)? For me this one story is enough to consign the Bible to the bin; if it contains one lie then how can I trust any of it? I was wondering what the official Islamic view is and do Muslims believe it and if so to what degree? Salam.
  11. Miracles Of The Quran

I agree 100% and for me as an atheist and sceptic I apply this to everything. One of biggest problems I have with religion is that nothing contained within holy books is reliably verifiable. They were written in the Iron Age and were based on stories handed down verbally over many years by simple people. How these books can even be taken seriously is a mystery to me. No offence intended :sl:
  12. Qur'an 47:4 "strike Their Necks..."

Nice reply Redeem. Rightly or wrongly, it doesn't seem very hard for extremists to find justification within the Qur'an to kill. 9/11 and 7/7 being two prime examples. It would be easy to suggest that the individuals perpetrating these crimes were illiterate, uneducated and from impoverished backgrounds but this was not the case. How can this be that they can so badly misunderstand and interpret the Qur'an? Salam.
  13. Christian Terrorist Attack

Another religious nut-case doing god's work. "With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil—that takes religion. " - Steven Weinberg
  14. Miracles Of The Quran

I think Wikipedia is a reliable source in this case. Plus, it's content is easily verifiable on the Internet or other sources.
  15. Qur'an 47:4 "strike Their Necks..."

Word fully eaten. Although I did say "Maybe that's what happened in Norway". It will probably surprise you to hear I'm actually pleased these were not Islamic terrorist attacks. On the point about it being ok to kill infidels; full authority and justification for murder is printed in black and white in the Qur'an. All you have to do is believe you are in a state of war.
