Reduce heat and simmer until chicken and potatoes are cooked and tender, about 30 minutes. Adjust with salt and sugar as needed. Turn off heat. Have a nice day! :) Wassalam
  2. Chicken Stew

Waalaikumsalam, A famous chef once told me that the mix of sugar and salt will replace MSG (monosodium glutamate) in our dish. And MSG does make our dish more delicious but it is bad for our health that's why sugar and salt are used. But sometimes people mix sugar and salt for different reason like to make the food's taste balanced or make an unique taste combination. This dish tastes rather sweet but delicious. Maybe that's why. Wassalam
  3. Chicken Stew

Assalamualaikum, This is a local recipe in my area, Sister :D Even in my house, we usually don't include potato, but most people do, so I put potato here. You can try it and compare this recipe to yours. I am confident enough that this recipe tastes good, though ;) Wassalam
  4. Chicken Noodle Soup

Assalamualaikum, Hello, everyone, I am back with another halal recipe to enrich your culinary experience :) SInce it is cold now in many countries, I will show you a recipe that can warm up the day. Check it out! CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP Serves : 4 Total Time: 1 hrs 20 mins Prep Time: 40 mins Cook Time: 40 mins Ingredients 1 1/4 lbs chicken pieces, with the bone still in (preferably thigh) 4 cups water (1 litre) 1 teaspoon salt 2 -3 tablespoons oil (for frying) 1/2-1 teaspoon chicken stock powder (optional) 1 cup coconut milk (250ml) 2 kaffir lime leaves, edges torn 2 small waxy potatoes, boiled, peeled and sliced 2 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and quartered, seasoned with salt and pepper if desired 1 1/2 cups bean sprouts (120g) 7 ounces fine dried rice vermicelli, soaked in hot water to soften (200g) 2 shallots or 2 onions 2 -4 tablespoons chopped cilantro Seasoning Paste 1 teaspoon black peppercorns 1 teaspoon coriander seed, lightly toasted 4 candlenuts, chopped or 4 macadamia nuts 2 ounces shallots, roughly chopped (60g) 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 slice ginger, minced 1/2 inch fresh turmeric, minced or 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder To Serve 1 lime, quartered (optional) chili sauce (optional) salty crackers (optional) Directions 1. Put the chicken, water, and salt in a saucepan. Bring to the boil, cover, lower heat, and simmer gently until the chicken is soft. When the chicken is cool enough to handle, discard the skin and remove the flesh from the bones, shredding it finely by hand. Put back into chicken stock. 2. Prepare seasoning paste by processing all ingredients listed below seasoning paste. Add a little of the oil if needed to keep the mixture turning. 3. Heat the oil in a saucepan with a heavy base, then add the seasoning paste and stir-fry over low-medium heat until fragrant, about 4 minutes. Add the reserved chicken stock with the chicken pieces and bring to the boil. Add the coconut milk and kaffir lime leaves, then bring gently to the boil, stirring. Taste and add a little chicken stock powder if desired. Simmer with the pan uncovered for 5 minutes. 4. In between, slice the 2 shallots very thinly and evenly. Heat enough vegetable oil to cover the shallots. When it is just warm, not hot, add the sliced shallots and cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until they are golden brown and crisp. It is important to keep the temperature low otherwise the shallots will brown before they are cooked. The process may take around 8 minutes. Lift out and dry on paper towel. The flavoured oil can be kept for frying or used as a seasoning oil. 5. To serve, divide the noodles between four large bowls and pour the chicken stock over. Divide the sliced potatoes, egg quarters, bean sprouts, chopped coriander and crispy shallots. 6. Serve with a lime wedge, salty crackers, and put a small dish of chili sauce onto the table, so that your guests can spice up the dish if desired. That's all. May you like it. Have a nice meal... err... day :D Wassalam
  5. Problems With My Sister

Assalamualaikum, Problem with sister? Yeah, I have it too :D Seems like your sister thinks that whatever she does to you won't make you leave her because you are her family that have unconditional love and patience. Time to change that. Meaning? Don't let her do anything as she please. You should tell her whenever she is doing wrong and show her what is wrong. At first it seems like you are talking to a wall but believe me, actually your sister thinks about it and (Insya Allah) will change gradually. I have many experiences in that matter. Then I think you can try to avoid her as many as possible. It doesn't mean that you do not talk to her but try to spend as little as possible time with her. It worked with my relationship somehow so your sister will realize that no one will tolerate her forever. You also can try to move your room to avoid her. Bring all your things with you including clothes and if possible do not let her wear your clothes without permission so she knows how to respect other's property. Lock your closet if needed. I know it is hard but hey, sleeping on the floor for several months will do you no good. Even it will show your "submission" to her. On the other hand, your bold actions will show your sister that you have enough with her rude behaviours and make your sister think that her family actually have this thing called feelings that can not be looked down otherwise she will be neglected. Don't worry about your parents' dua, because honestly it doesn't have anything to do with your sister's hurtful actions. Maybe they will question your changes towards your sister, but tell them the truth that your sister's actions have gone beyond your tolerance and patience. If they do not believe you, then record some of her actions in video or audio then show it to them. Last but not least, pray to Allah to ease your problem. That's it, I think. Hope your problem can be solved (if it is not solved already since it has been almost two months ago :D). Have a nice day :) Wassalam
  6. I Need Your Prays.....for My Dad.

Waalaikumsalam, You will be in my prayer, Brother. Think of it as test and be patient. Insya Allah, Allah will give the best for your family. Wassalam

Heat vegetable oil in a pot, add the spice paste, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and cinnamon stick. Stir fry this spices until they are turning color, fragrant and light golden. When the spices and herbs are turning color, add coconut milk, water and salt. Bring it to a rolling boiling. At boiling point, add lamb cubes and cook until the meat is tender and the soup is thicken. Cover and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Add more water if you like thin curry or increase cooking time if you want it thick. Also adjust the salt to your taste. Remove from the heat and ready to serve. Before serving, garnish it with deep fried shallot and chopped coriander leaf. Yeah, it is not that easy to cook but after it is done, it is quite tasty. Try it to enrich your Eid table. 9. Spicy Eggplant

Assalamualaikum, You don't like shrimp paste, Sister? I think it is the best addition to the spice paste. IMO, without the shrimp paste, the spice paste won't be as delicious as it should be. But everyone has different taste, so go ahead with your own liking :) Wassalam
  10. Spicy Eggplant

Assalamualaikum, Yeah, it is indeed delicious and spicy, my favorite! :D Try it ;) Wassalam
  11. Im/ Skype-Ing With Non Muhram?

Assalamualaikum, I once believed that mere texting or chatting with nonmahram was okay, but after searching through many scholars' opinions, now I know that is wrong according to Islam, moreover if it lead to video call, video chat, etc. If you want to get married with that guy, you should go to halal procedures in Islam. Do not go through saytan's way eventhough it is so tempting otherwise you will be mislead. The Prophet Muhammad saw said, "Whenever a man is alone with a woman the Devil makes a third. (Hadith - Ahmad and Al-Tirmidhi 3118, Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab , Tirmidhi transmitted it) Allah (swt) says: "Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards God, that ye may attain Bliss. " (24:30-31) Wassalam
  12. I'm Tired Of Those People

Assalamualaikum, I have told you about that a long time ago, Brother, but maybe only recently you realized about it. Indeed there are some groups of nonmuslim people who intend not to seek knowledge on Islamic forum, but only want to create havoc even destroy that forum. They will use the most polite words ever to avoid being banned but will keep attacking Islam if given chance without even looking at our explanation at all. They will repeat the same question over and over again or pretend to be dumb eventhough we have defeated their arguments. Even those "polite people" have their own forum where they create their strategy together and mock us here on Islamic forum. I have met those people before therefore I knew. They have been banned anywhere so maybe they try their luck here because this forum is not that stritch. I like Brother Younes' suggestion, but I want to add more: 1. If the question has been answered but the nonmuslim member shows the sign of repeating the question over and over again/making endless thread then quickly lock the thread after giving final answer from our side 2. Ban those members who keep attacking Islam over and over again aften given explanation That's it. I hope it helps Wassalam
  13. How Much More Will The World Destroy Me?

Assalamualaikum We muslims greet at each other with salam, right? Remember that next time you are starting a discussion/post If you know that your country is not muslim country then you realize that you have no many choices. Since you are powerless now, just use whatever available in your country or try to minimalize it for example read Quran in English. Nothing is perfect in this world but our job is to make the best out of it. Even muslims are allowed to eat haram food if they are starving. So I think it is okay to attend nearest Masjid available or join/seek help from the organization as long as they are practicing Islam in the right direction regardless of a LITTLE difference they have with your ideal. Excuse me, how was the girl trying to "ruin" your friendship with "the only person you trust completely"? Can you share your story here? Because sometimes you missunderstand the intention of a good person, moreover if the girl is muslim. Oh yeah, I have that experience a long time ago so I know. Then again, if you have "the only person you trust completely" so why bother to share your story here? Where is that "only person you trust completely"? Can't that "only person you trust completely" solve your problem? Since you rely heavily on that person, that person must be very good, right? Who is that "only person you trust completely" anyway? Ulema? Sheikh? Imam? If not, than trusting that person completely is something arguable. What I am trying to tell you is if you trust one person that much as if your world is depend on that person, then you are at a big loss. Nobody's perfect and who knows that the person trying to mislead you from the REAL Islamic teachings. If it comes to life, don't depend on someone heavily because when that person is gone, you have nothing else in this world. Try to make as many friends as you can. Listen to as many people as you can. In this world, the voice of truth does not come only from you or "the only person you trust completely", but from Quran, As-Sunnah, and ummah At least you still have a decent home, clothes, food, even internet connection. You have to be grateful for that. Have you ever seen people in Palestine, Syria, Afghan, Egypt, or Iraq now? They are WAY WAY WAY WORSE than you right now. You are not the most suffering person on this earth. If you want to be helped then READ and LISTEN to other people that have tried to help you on this forum or outside. If you live in your shell (aka being introvert) forever, then you will forever suffer. Join the ummah and Insha Allah your life will be better.Wassalam
  14. Depression As A Convert

Assalamualaikum, I think your problem is you have been too long to be an introvert person. You should try to open yourself. This world is big so why not try to make friends? Telling friends about your life will lift your burden and make your life happier that will instantly solve your depression problem. But if you have friends, always remember to TAKE and GIVE, not only take but not wanting to give because that make friendship broken. I know you are confused being new convert but number one priority in your life should be Allah only, not figure or anything. Because why bothers being convert if you are focusing on someone else besides of Allah? As muslim, you should know that your very reason to live in this world is for Allah not for pleasing another humans/creatures or any other worldly desires. And killing yourself won't make you any happier or free of problem. Because you will be tortured FOREVER in hereafter. I hope you will take note on that. Wassalam
  15. Indonesia (i/ˌɪndəˈniːʒə/ IN-də-NEE-zhə or /ˌɪndoʊˈniːziə/ IN-doh-NEE-zee-ə), officially the Republic of Indonesia (Indonesian: Republik Indonesia Indonesian pronunciation: [rɛpʊblɪk ɪndɔnɛsɪa]), is a country in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Indonesia is an archipelago comprising approximately 17,508 islands. It has 33 provinces with 244.775.796 people on 2012, and is the world's fourth most populous country. Indonesia is a republic, with an elected legislature and president. The nation's capital city is Jakarta. The country shares land borders with Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Malaysia. Other neighboring countries include Singapore, Philippines, Australia, and the Indian territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Indonesia is a founding member of ASEAN and a member of the G-20 major economies. The Indonesian economy is the world's sixteenth largest by nominal GDP and fifteenth largest by purchasing power parity. So, why muslims should live in this country? Here are the reasons: 1. Islam is the dominant religion in Indonesia, which also has largest Muslim population in the world, with approximately 207.176.162 identified as Muslim as of 2012. With these many muslim people, you will not suffer from any discriminations. Woman wearing hijab can be seen anywhere and no one will mock or forbid you to practise your religion. These people will even encourage you to do so! 2. While most of its people embracing Islam, Indonesia respects human rights, emancipation, and freedom of speech 3. There are approximately 643.843 Masjid in all around the country. So, you can just take a walk for a few minutes before seeing a Masjid from another.Because of this, adzan can be heard in a loud sound, five times a day. So you can't miss your prayer time here 4. Nearly all companies in this country won't forbid you to do daily prayers and hajj/pilgrimage. They also will respect Ramadhan, even the government has issued a regulation for the companies to give special bonus to support your needs on Eid ul-Fitr. There are also special holidays to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr, usually up to a week. You will get a holiday too on Eid ul-Adha 5. Indonesian/Bahasa Indonesia, the widely spoken language, is one of the easiest language in the world! There are no tenses or genders words and it's written using the normal Latin letters. Learn basic Indonesian online freely and while living in Indonesia, your speaking ability will increase automatically. Perhaps in a year or so, you can be rather fluent in Indonesian! 6. Indonesian is one of the friendliest people on earth, proven by several surveys such as Lonely planet and Skyscanner.com 7. Halal food can be found everywhere in this country, from a five star restaurant to local food stall. Well, what do you expect from a majority muslim country? Indonesia also has delicious foods. Rendang and nasi goreng were named to be most delicious food in the world by CNNGo on 2011. 8. The cost of living in Indonesia is relatively small. You can live a moderate life in a big city in Indonesia only with 200 US dollar per month. For a family, perhaps 400 US dollar per month will do. If you live in small city, it will take less. So you can save your money from now before decide to move to Indonesia a couple years later. 9. Indonesian has a big tendency to be tolerant. You can see that there are several other religions in Indonesia that live in harmony 10. Indonesia is one of the most beautiful country in the world according to United Kingdom’s leading leisure travel company website, First Choice. Indonesia has many beautiful travelling sites such as Bali which has been so famous, Raja Ampat (for diving), Lombok, Lake Toba, etc. So you will never run out a place to go on holiday! 11. Indonesia has a tropical climate, meaning it has only rainy season and summer. The day and the night take the same time, 12 hours. Eventhough it will be rather hot for the foreigners, but you will have a balance day and night time all year and no harsh winter ever come to this place. Usually we will fast for 13-14 hours on Ramadhan 12. You will have experience to live with people from hundreds of different races without even going too far! 13. The content of media, and basically everything else,is usually free of anti-Islamic values 14. You can have servants to help you to do anything in affordable salary 15. Want to know how is it to be under Sharia Law? Go to Aceh, one of Indonesia's provinces and the only one which based on Sharia law! WIth 98% of the people of Aceh being muslim, you will have an experience to live amongst true muslim population. It is not called as "Veranda to Mecca" for nothing Of course Indonesia is not a perfect country, but generally, it is a good place to live as a muslim. So, how's your opinion? ;)
  16. 15 Reasons For Muslim To Live In Indonesia

Alhamdulillah, finally you admit your defeat in this arguments by not capable of answering my challenge! Like I stated here: Now, like all typical of atheist who is defeated on argument, you can only: 1. Avoiding my right answers 2. Playing dumb 3. Repeating the same things over and over again But the points of this discussions are: 1. I have answered all your wrong accusations you got from one-sided news about Indonesia generally and muslims specifically. As I said here : About christians-thingy, I need not to answer since I have explained it over and over again here : But it is up to you if you don't want to understand or pretend to not understand, it is not me whose intelligence is at doubt anyway. If you insist to defend those liars and tricksters in the name of religion (how strange, an atheist stand up for a religion?) and play dumb to any rational reasons then go on, that way everyone will know your true colors. I am not misguided, I know the truth behind your fake flowery words and Qur'an has taught me about that: "They (think to) deceive Allah and those who believe, while they only deceive themselves, and perceive (it) not! In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and Allah has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies. And when it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "We are only peacemakers."Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not. (2:9-12) On the other hand, I suggest you to read the world's history and see how many mischiefs in the world caused by atheists, christians, and other religions compared to Islam. You will be suprised that Islam is so much better than other religions or nonreligions. 2. All your challenges have been answered, while you couldn't answer even one of my challenge 3. I never avoided your questions or statements, but you avoided mine if you felt like you couldn't answer them 4. Finally you accept that Indonesia is tolerant because you said that like Australia, all your "problems" directed to Indonesia didn't reflect how is the true Indonesia. I want to add that mostly Indonesians are helpful and kind 5. Finally you accept that Islam in Indonesia is not the problem since you said that you were not criticising it. I never said Islam is the problem, I said the people who badmouthed it are the problem after all its kindness and tolerance to minorities in Indonesia And your explanations about Australia doesn't simply make dissappear the fact that muslims earn less jobs and money than Australia born, moreover if you deny it by saying it is more often racial than religious discriminations that happen in Australia, because I have not heard anything about racial in Australia, even in international news. Now, it is up to you if you couldn't understand my analogies. Not all humans are granted the ability to read between the lines anyway, and seems like it is including you. It explains why you don't understand my points eventhough I have repeated it over and over again. I am not making a lot of incorrect assumptions, I only wrote what I saw here on the discussion. But since you have been defeated, also all cases, missunderstandings, and actions of Indonesia have been answered, I happily say that we have no more to be discussed. Everything has been clear that Indonesia and its muslims populations are one of most tolerant ones on earth and mostly people including those of different religions are living in harmony in Indonesia. If you hear otherwise, then it must be from unbalanced sources because as I have written above, Indonesia won't tolerate any mischiefs. Indonesia is one of the most promosing country in the world and it will keep developing at amazing rates. “As I travel around the world over the next years, I will be saying to people, if you want to know whether Islam, democracy, modernity, and women’s rights can coexist, go to Indonesia.” Hillary Rodham Clinton, Secretary of State address at Indonesian Civil Society Dinner in Jakarta (February 18, 2009)
  17. 15 Reasons For Muslim To Live In Indonesia

Oh, alhamdulillah, you still want to voluntarily help me increasing my pageviews, fish2000. And I am ready to beat you up... AGAIN! Well, it's rare to see someone as willing as this not only to help muslim but also not mind to be embarassed all over the world. Hahahaha... But before we start, I want to share you a lil joke here: An elderly lady was well-known for her Iman and for her confidence in talking about it. She would stand in front of her house and say Alhamdulilah "Allah be praised" to all those who passed by. Next door to her lived an atheist who would get so angry at her proclamations he would shout, "There ain't no Lord!!" Hard times came upon the elderly lady, and she prayed for Allah to send her some assistance. She would pray out loud in her night prayer" Oh Allah! I need food!! I am having a hard time, please Lord, PLEASE LORD, SEND ME SOME GROCERIES!!" The atheist happened to hear her as she was praying, and decided to play a prank on her. The next morning the lady went out on her porch and noted a large bag of groceries and shouted, "Alhamdulilah, Allah be praised!." The neighbor jumped from behind a bush and said, "Aha! I told you there was no Lord. I bought those groceries, God didn't." The lady started jumping up and down and clapping her hands and said, "ALHAMDULILAH WA SHUKRILLAH”. He not only sent me groceries, but he made the devil pay for them!" Still not get it? No wonder christians could manipulate you very well. Okay, here are your answers: Don't try to avoid here. You can't answer means you don't have anymore reasonable arguments. All your points have been refuted as I proved above. And if you can't answer but too stubborn to proclaim defeat, you will REPEAT the same old arguments OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I have answered over and over again but you keep repeating. Proofs? And my answers : And now you REPEAT again the same ANSWERED questions. How many times do I have to answer until you understand? So, that is your level of intelligence? I don't want to repeat again my answer above. Your situation is like this: Kid : Professor, how much is 1 + 2? And what is the capital of Indonesia? Professor : It is 3 and the capital of Indonesia is Jakarta Kid : I ask you once again, Professor, how much is 1 + 2? And what is the capital of Indonesia? Professor : I have answered previously it is 3 and the capital of Indonesia is Jakarta Kid : No, you haven't answered it! Professor, how much is 1 + 2? And what is the capital of Indonesia? Professor : How many times do I have to answer this? It is 3 and the capital of Indonesia is Jakarta Kid : You have not answered, Professor! How much is 1 + 2? And what is the capital of Indonesia? Professor : Are you stupid or what? It is 3 and the capital of Indonesia is Jakarta! Kid : But Professor, I am not satisfied yet! How much is 1 + 2? And what is the capital of Indonesia? Professor : (what a silly kid) I don't want to repeat again my answer. You heard it! You are very much alike typical atheist who become troublemaker on another Islamic forum. Don't tell me that you ran here after that forum's members kicked your ? And your rejection to perfectly SCIENTIFIC deduction showed all people here not only how Islamophobic you are but also how irrational you are when it comes to Islam. Look: First premise : Human will die Second premise : Rasheed is human Conclusion : Therefore, Rasheed will die Do you think it is rational to think that "no, Rasheed won't die because his metabolism maybe different and not because he is human he will automatically die. It only happens to MOST human not to Rasheed!". Yeah, right, tell that to everyone and let the world laugh at you. And I need not to answer your WRONG accusation about antichristian because you repeated it AGAIN. Look : I have answered: Not to mention you AVOID my example case about punk neigbour. Why? Because you feel like you can not be tolerant in that case? Now I challenge you to answer that example. If you try to speak or negotiate with that neighbour, according to your concept of UNLIMITED TOLERANCE, it means that you are INTOLERANT because that punk has the same rights as you to do anything he wants. If you move, then it means you betray your own words not to move just because of differences with others. Now, what will you do? If you avoid again, it means you admit your loss in argument and prove that your ability only avoid when you can't answer something. Next, you are denying a survey which conducted by Australian government itself about muslim's less work and salary. It is not one-sided because the government who stated that. Ohohoho... so much for neutrality. Eventhough you are not Australian or pretending not to be Australian for the sake of the discussion, but you live there now. What I was trying to say is you should fight for equality in Australia first, before you said that a country needs to be fixed, moreover if that country is so much better than the country you are living now regarding to tolerance to minority. You are like a beggar who comes to Carlos Slim Helu, the current richest man on earth, and said, "Hey, you need to work harder! You are not rich enough! How come you are as bad as this?! You need to implement better business strategy!" Oh yeah, he will laugh at you, as will all people on earth. He has made most money in the world anyway, like Indonesia who apparently one of the most tolerant countries in the world despite of being muslim-majority country. And you should stop your fake praise. Muslims are not that naive to see what behind your flowery words. You say that Indonesia is great and all, but on the other hand keep critising its Islamic part. Do you think muslims don't know what you are trying to say? You are like this, "Hi, girl! You are pretty but your eyes' colour are bad, your skin is pale, your lips are dry, your clothes are mismatch. Oh, you are black? Black is bad. But don't worry, you are still pretty but not because you're black, but because every women is pretty. I am not racist by the way." Hohoho... is that what you call PRAISE? Now what I want to say is no matter how many posts you made here, whether you like it or not, Indonesia won't change its rules for you or any misleading people out there. It has done its duty to protect minorities as much as it can and many world's leaders, including pope, barack obama, angela merkel, and hillary clinton, not nameless one like you, have appreciated its effort. It is not its duty to please everyone moreover if they are wrong according to the nation. And no country or person can force or dictate how Indonesia behaves or what values it should follow. You, on the other hand, will only be a tool to increase my pageviews while lowering your credibility without even realizing it. This information of Indonesia's goodness now will be spread much more compared to when I started it 6 months ago. Well, Allah's work is beyond and better than our imagination, anyway. Now if you still wanna help me to make more pageviews, I am waiting which statement you will repeat, which of my right answer you will try to avoid, and what kind of irrational or wrong accusation you will wrote. Despite of your failure attempts to taint its image, Indonesia will keep moving forward and being one of the most succesful nations in the world, even UK admitted its rapid development. Also, my brothers and sisters here surely will know how amazing is Indonesia
  18. 15 Reasons For Muslim To Live In Indonesia

Minorities have been treated equally like muslims in Indonesia and have the rights to practise their religion, you know. The problem is they don't want to follow rules, that actually work for all people in Indonesia. They use religion as the culprit because they don't want to be blamed for their inability to follow rules and want to make Islam's image worse as well. Of course muslims in Indonesia have accepted the minorities and love them all the same. But it doesn't mean that the minorities can do whatever they want and disturb the muslims. Now, imagine you have a punk neighbour that plays a very loud music whenever he likes whether day or nite. It disturbs you a lot and no device or equipment can block the very loud music. You often can't sleep at nite and even at day you can't hear anything because of that music. So you will still let that neighbour of yours doing that eventhough you are at very big loss out of "tolerance"? Tolerance means both parties are satisfied, not only one party, so both of them must sacrifice something for the other. Muslims in Indonesia have given a good life and equal rights in all aspects for the minorities, now it is the time for the minorities to do their part of tolerance by respecting the majority and not disturbing them. Palestine and israel are different case. The land has been occupied for long by Palestine but suddenly israel came and took the land by force, not even showing kindness or tolerance. It is like someone comes suddenly to your house and takes it by force and only gives you a small closet to live at your OWN home. That intruder is always rude to you, making you hard to get your basic needs but you have no power to make him out while the authority can't do anything since he is somewhat important and rich man. How is it? In Indonesia, it is not like that and I have explained OVER AND OVER AGAIN why those churches were closed : because the christians tricked and lied to the people or misused the building permit. If only the churches asked nicely, maybe the people will allow the churches to be built in muslim population area. That is not impossible because many churches have beeen built that way. But now the people were angry because they were lied and tricked and not wanting to accept the church anymore. Who won't be angry if treated like that anyway? And your challenge has been long ago answered by Indonesians because immanuel church is built besides Istiqlal Masjid in Jakarta. As I said above, not all Indonesians will reject church built besides of masjid if only the christians behave. If they do reject it, mostly because there is something wrong with the church (tricking, lying, misusing permit, disturbing, etc). So you see, this is PURE unfinished administration matters and not because muslims aren't tolerant, but the christians make it look like one even telling the whole world. It is clearly manipulation of news and too bad you are not smart enough and got manipulated as well. Don't let me think that you are worse than that by keep rejecting the true fact that I have tried to tell you many times. But at last you accept my point that "terrorism", "religious violence", or whatever words you use that often happen in Indonesia is not correct. What I was trying to say on the last post is you knew that christians on the churches closed case above indeed were lying and tricking people nearby, but why did you ignore that fact and insist to stand for them? Do you really stand for liar and trickster just because they are againts muslims? Now, while you answered only ONE of my points on my last post, why did you ignore: Maybe because those are all TRUE? Now let me answer your "points": 1. Who says that you are THE ONLY ONE who think about that? I wrote on the last post and on this post as well that muslim and christian in Indonesia have the same rights and treated equally before the law. So your point is WRONG! 2. I have said on several posts ago: So, basically christians and muslims have lived in one peaceful community in Indonesia but you insisted that they have not just because some closed chruches that made of lies and trickery. So your point again is WRONG! 3. If you think that the problem of Indonesia is punishing the ones who were lying, tricking, or misusing permit, then yes, you are the ONLY ONE who think like that. No sane man will think that lying, tricking, or misusing permit are good deeds moreover defend them 4. Have you ever read my posts? So your point is again and again WRONG! Whew... 3 points are wrong and 1 point is delusional, oh well... what an acknowledgement. And your next answer really made me laugh. Can't you accept that muslims are GREAT? You said that the majority of Indonesians were very friendly and welcoming people but it was not because they were mostly muslims? Have you ever learnt about Deductive Reasoning? First premise : The majority of Indonesians are very friendly and welcoming people Second premise : Muslims are the majority of Indonesians Conclusion : Therefore, muslims are very friendly and welcoming people If you reject this scientific deduction, then it will be another proof that you REALLY have Islamophobia. By the way, having "discussion" this long, don't you feel that you are losing the battle? ALL your arguments have been REFUTED by me. Look at these accusations you threw on Indonesia: a. Corruption : First you said it was bad and getting nowhere to be solved but I said it is improving a lot and finally you have admitted that my point was right here : b. Bribing : You said that Indonesians need to be bribed a lot but I said it was not necessary and could be reported to higher up. At last you were agreed with me as well here : c. Terrorism : You said that it often happened in Indonesia. I said it was very rare. When I showed you the fact, you changed the topic to "religious violence" although there was no relations AT ALL between "terrorism" and "religious violence". You just made it up because you couldn't deny my fact. First you were targeting the old cases or one-sided news, but after I gave explanation to you that nearly all case have been solved while the rest of them only missunderstanding, you couldn't answer and now change topic AGAIN to closed churches that in fact were only administration problems that means the churches were breaking the law of Indonesia. d. Straddling law : You also dropped the topic after I told you that the muslims there are just fine with the law People can see who is the one on the upper hand, you know. But if you voluntarily want to show the world (yes, it can be accessed all over the world) how your arguments are beaten over and over again by muslim, then go on. It helps my thread going up anyway. I get more pageviews and can refute all your arguments, what more can I ask? I also can see Quran's verse proven: And the infidels plotted and Allah secretly devised for their destruction and Allah is the best of secret devisers. (3:54) Seems like Allah purposely sent you to my thread so my pageviews is increasing and at the same time I can prove that all your arguments are wrong. Pageviews increasing means more muslims here will know about the goodness of Indonesia and your credibility is getting lower as your arguments are refuted by me over time. Wow, Allah is great, isn't it? But before you babble again about "how intolerant" is Indonesia, I advised you to look at your your own country: -have Australia agreed on Sharia? -have Australia given national holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha? -have Australia given the same access and salaries to the muslims? I read here that muslims got less work and less salary than Australia born -how many Masjid are in Australia? Has it reached AT LEAST 56000 like the number of church in Indonesia? Now, ANSWER THAT, and if even ONE of those points have not happened, I will say how INTOLERANT is Australia! Muslims, eventhough minority, have the SAME RIGHTS with Australians! You, the supporter of equality, should speak about this on the media.Tell them that in the name of equality, muslims must have got Sharia, national holiday, same access to work and salary, also as many Masjid as they want. If you have made it all happens in Australia, then you can criticise that Indonesia is not tolerant. How is it? You should fix your own country before saying anything bad about another country, moreover if that country is much BETTER than your country and your accusations are all WRONG! You know, in terms of tolerance, I have never seen a country as tolerant as Indonesia. Not even the super-freedom country USA gives muslims national holiday and number of Masjids in USA are only about 2000. That also works in Canada, Britain, or any western countries that I know. The number of Masjids in Britain are only 1500. Now, Indonesia, the muslims majority, has given christians 56000 churches and national holiday for easter and christmast. It is MUCH MORE than USA, Australia, or UK can give to their minority! If you find a country that is better than Indonesia in tolerance to minority, moreover to muslims, tell me. I am sure it is very few or even none. Indonesia is clearly MUCH BETTER than most countries in the world even compared to USA, UK, or Australia regarding of tolerance to minority. Here are what world's leaders said about Indonesia: What They Say About Indonesia If you still close your eyes to the truth and insist about whatever wrong about Indonesia in your one-sided version, then go on, let the world know what are your true colors. What I offer here is a muslim-majority country for muslims on an Islamic forum. Your arguments of so-called "problems" of Indonesia won't affect them at all since they are muslims. Moreover if they know you are atheist and have traits below: -making bad assumptions about Indonesia but you only know about Indonesia from one-sided or Islamophobic news. From all the long discussion, didn't you see that ALL your bad assumptions about Indonesia are WRONG? -blaming muslims in Indonesia about all bad things that happen there just because it is a muslim-majority country while in fact it was not always their faults and nearly all the problems have been solved -ignoring the facts that minorities have done bad things like tricking and lying to people to build prayer place just because they are not muslims. You can ask to all people in the world and they will agree that tricking and lying indeed are not good deeds (if you are still defending them, you are still included in this point) -seeing the news one-sided from bias sources without seeking the opinion of muslims in Indonesia about what really happened so you have misperception -not appreciating any muslims' effort to be tolerant while appreciating all nonmuslims' effort not to be tolerant in Indonesia. Even pope in 80's said that he never saw a country as tolerant as Indonesia. -not acknowledging that Islam contribute to the goodness of Indonesia. If muslims of Indonesia heard this, they will be very angry towards you for misleading their images. After seeing that list, of course they will believe more in me, plus I am a fellow muslims. Also they can read that all your arguments are refuted by me. Muslims will see throughout the facade and flowery words that you say. So yeah, your effort is totally futile. Muslims worldwide will still know how great is Indonesia and how tolerant are muslims there.
  19. Assalamu Alaykum From Ohio, Usa

Assalamualaikum, Welcome, Sister! :) I hope you will find what you are looking for here. Muslims are basically a big family so Insha Allah we will assist you with whatever we can. Good luck :) Wassalam
  20. 15 Reasons For Muslim To Live In Indonesia

When did you say that this is "power issue"? No. Since beginning you only say muslim in Indonesia is wrong just because Indonesia is a muslim-majority. Minorities are not that innocent in Indonesia. They often started the conflict like what happens in Poso or ahmadia. Clash that happens in Indonesia often time is two-ways, not one way. But WHERE are those on your post?Where is the neutrality? It is not problem whether you accept the minimum amount of signatures rules or not, since you are nonmuslim and not Indonesian, so you will never understand. Indonesians know what is the best for them and since there are so many religions in Indonesia, it is needed something to keep the area to be peaceful. If you have power to voice the so-called "discrimination", you should say it to west that limit masjid, not allow muslims to perform adhan, even forbid muslims to wear burkha/hijab. Isn't it EVIL to prevent muslims to practise their religion and hide behind every excuse they can muster? As far as I know, no Indonesian muslims dictate when christians can practise their religion. "Behave" means the christians are asking the muslim nearby nicely to build church not tricking them, always showing respect and be polite, and not disturbing the muslims. If you don't know, easter and christmast, even hindu's, chinese's and buddhist' big days are announced as holiday in Indonesia. Even in USA, Eid-ul-Fitr is not holiday. In Indonesia, minorities can build many prayer places, more than any countries can give to minority. Even in athena, not even one masjid exist. You read yourself there are 56000 churches in Indonesia. The rules do not only work for minorities but for muslims as well. As I said, in west Indonesia it is hard to build masjid. Don't you see that Indonesian muslims are so tolerant? It is YOU who need to see everything as equal. Muslims in Indonesia have tried to be tolerant by giving minorities freedom to practise religion and peaceful life, but where is the tolerance of minorities when muslims are disturbed with the way they behave? If the tolerance is two-sided, then the minorities will build their prayer place in neutral area and no problem will ensue. What is wrong with not making church in muslim area? There are a lot of other area to build church. God is everywhere and they accept that concept. About Indonesia's conflict management, haven't the culprits of beheadings been punished? Do you think Indonesians freed the culprits, celebrate with them, make propaganda in mass media that the culprits are right or keep beheading another christians like israel does to Palestine? No! "Nearly all those problems have been solved peacefully" means all the wrong things that happens with or without religion motives in Indonesia have been taken care of and the culprits have got the punishment they deserve. Are we clear here? I am not hateful, I am telling the audiences about the REAL facts in Indonesia. For your information, muslims and christians have same rights in Indonesia. Didn't I write that the law also works for masjid and another prayer places like temple, etc? The one who differentiate them only the amount of populations and you can't demand to make the muslims emigrate to make it equal. You on the other hand should stop: -making bad assumptions about Indonesia if you only know about Indonesia from one-sided or Islamophobic news. You can ask to all people in the world and they will agree that tricking and lying indeed are not good deeds -seeing the news one-sided from bias sources without seeking the opinion of muslims in Indonesia about what really happened so you have misperception -not appreciating any muslims' effort to be tolerant while appreciating all nonmuslims' effort not to be tolerant in Indonesia. Even pope in 80's said that he never saw a country as tolerant as Indonesia. From that list, I hope muslims here will know what kind of person you are. If you acknowledge that Indonesia is a great country that means you also acknowledge that muslims of Indonesia are great since they make the most of populations. If you keep tainting their image, it means you are not consistent with what you declared over and over again on your posts and that will only add a point on the list I made above. Despite of what bias news out there said about it, Indonesia is one of important countries in the world now where not only muslims can have so peacefully life but also friendly to outsiders without sacrifing its Islamic values.
  21. 15 Reasons For Muslim To Live In Indonesia

You said that you were not Islamophobic or trying to bring Islam in Indonesia down. But why did you only bring muslims as culprit in the "religious violence" area? Don't you know that minorities in Indonesia are not sinless and they have contributed much in many incidents in Indonesia? Okay, now you must see the reality in Indonesia. You should see WHY the rules of minimum amount of signatures are exists: TO PREVENT RELIGION CLASH IN INDONESIA. How do you like 3 masjids in your village of 2000 nonmuslims while the muslims only 5 and all of the masjid performing adhan loudly 5 times a day? Maybe you will pretend that "it is alright" here but in reality, it is so hard to build even a masjid in western community, let alone allowed to perform adhan. What happens in Indonesia is when everyone given freedom, the minorities build so many prayer places without thinking. I read christians ever built 2 big churches in muslim populations. Frankly to say, that disturb muslims. Disturbed ones can complain while the complained ones can insist, later it can lead to clash at each other. That is why the rules are made. If christians wanna build church, they can build it in the area that has been allocated by the government to them or in christians community. Those areas DO EXIST in MANY places in Indonesia. Some muslim friendly community will also allow them to build church in their place if the christians behave. But as I said above, the churches tricked the people to build churches, didn't want to obey rules in Indonesia, etc. But it is right according to you, right? Yeah, to you, the ones worth critizing only muslims. Another one can be understood eventhough they do wrong things like tricking, lying, not obeying rules, etc. So how come I am thinking that you are neutral? Muslims in the west/minority muslim countries have tried to understand their position of minority and not demand many things. But minorities in Indonesia sometimes want tolerance but don't want to be tolerant, also don't want to follow rules. Remember that muslims are majority in Indonesia, they have so much power in decison-making, but they have tried so much to be tolerant. You should know that tolerance is not going one-sided but two-sided. If muslims are disturbed, then the minorities should respect it, not spreading untrue issues throughout the world to make muslims' image worse. But that does happen even supported by you and Islamophobic media. I have explained all about "religious violence" above about seems that you don't want to understand. Now let me repeat again: Nearly all problems you mentioned above have been solved peacefully by Indonesia while another ones are only missunderstanding. Now I am asking you to read Quran and Islamic media because I think you don't understand much about Islam and muslim society, moreover in Indonesia. But since you are nonmuslim who relied much in western sources, I think you will never understand. That is fine with me, as long as you don't try to tell anything wrong here. I won't let my brothers and sisters have mislead perceptions about Indonesia, which in fact, indeed is a great and noble country.
  22. 15 Reasons For Muslim To Live In Indonesia

Hahaha... don't be upset when you can't produce anymore reasonable arguments to bring Islam in Indonesia down. You said that you believed that Islam was not evil but yet here you are trying hard to prove that Islam was the source of so-called "religious-violence" in Indonesia, while facts show that mostly the minority groups which seek troubles themselves. But of course your sources will close their eyes on this facts and keep brainwashing you with Islamophobia news. Mostly all your "complaints" have been answered by me above and you can't deny it because you only read the issues shortly on online news without further knowledge about them or what really happened there. Everything happens in Indonesia has reason behind it and as far as I know, Indonesia could solve almost all the problems peacefully. I am not turning blind eyes to that so-called "religious violence", but everything that you wrote is not correct. Indonesia respects another religions outside Islam and whoever do wrong things will get punished regardless of the religion. Many cases closed above have proved it, if only you want to acknowledge it and not blinded by Islamophobia. Also, I need to add that christians live just fine in Indonesia. They even have 56.000 churches built there. How can you still say that Islam in Indonesia is not tolerant? You can count how many masjid built in muslim minority countries. So your points are wrong again. I hope from the discussion, my brothers and sisters see that Indonesia is a nice place to live. Many bad people want to taint Indonesia's image simply because they can't accept the fact that Indonesia holds dearly Islamic values and grows so big right now. It happens to muslim-majority nations worldwide. So keep believing that there is still a muslim-majority country named Indonesia that will accept muslims with smiles and let muslims live in wonderful Islamic surroundings.
  23. 15 Reasons For Muslim To Live In Indonesia

I am not covering up anything, but Indonesia indeed has been so much better and not the country you used to see several years ago. Taking old cases and one-sided news from sources which are very unbalanced is an unfair ways to create the image of the biggest muslim nation in the world. Don't you learn from previous cases? Your data and accusations are always either wrong, outdated, or both. Now you are back again with same old arguments. Oh, yeah... bring it on, because there will be always reasonable explanations that those unbalanced sources will never tell you. Here we go: 1&2. Good, finally you accept my point 3. 1999 is 14 years ago you know, in the beginning of reformation where everything was chaotic at the moment. Don't expect it to happen now. But still I haven't seen in your report above about innocent christians chased down on the street or jailed for no reason other than his religion, because never Indonesians will do such thing. So still, your argument in the last post is invalid. That is what I called "old case".Now Indonesia is so safe and sound. About your links, here are the explanations: -POSO: Poso has been so much safer than before. Read this: http://www.tempointeractive.com/hg/nasional/2013/01/16/brk,20130116-454919,uk.html And,let me tell you that the incident started by christians on 1998. -BALI BOMBINGS : I don't need to see Bali bombings cases. As I wrote above, Bali bombings have been solved. The main culprits have been sentenced to death and the supporters have been punished. Even Australia has thanked Indonesian police and rewarded them with the biggest cyber crime laboratory in the Asia. -CHRISTIAN GIRL : Even on article you showed me, the culprits have been sentenced to prison. Case closed. -RELIGION WAR BREWING : It is up to a nation to make its own law. Indonesia is muslim majority so it is normal if Islam influences the law. It will be strange if it isn't. But Indonesia has tried to accomodate another beliefs eventhough not all can be accepted because it has its own filter. Now don't call it bad yet. Even you won't take ALL thinkings/suggestions given to you by everyone. -AHMADIYA INCIDENT: About the explanation of the tragedy, here it is: http://www.indonesianembassy.org.uk/CikeusikIncident/Cikeusik_chronology.html -2012 VIOLENCE : The government of Indonesia has explained that it was not religious conflict, but mere family matters. Read here: http://www.antaranews.com/en/news/84230/clash-in-sampang-not-between-sunnis-and-shiites-nu-chief -HUMAN RIGHTS REPORT : Yes, I saw the ones interviewed by the media were mostly LIBERAL. As I said, liberal Islam is not supported by many Indonesians because most of Indonesian muslim want pure Islamic teachings. The majority muslims have rights to protect what is the right thing for them. For the majority muslims, minority sects are wrong and who wants their family to be wronged anyway? Do you want your family educated to be a thief by your neighbour? Nonmuslims, moreover westerners, want to be free on all things : free to have relations with the same sex, free to insult another people, free to have kids without marriage, free to taint another religion, etc. Unfortunately those kinds of freedom don't have place in muslim community, especially in Indonesia who mosty are still conservative. And Indonesians so far have been very tolerant to let minority to live peacefully but their tolerance has a limit. Not all things can be accomodated by them, especially what is wrong according to the nation. Surya Dharma Ali, the current minister of religion of Indonesia, said that Indonesia is the most tolerant nation, but doesn't mean it can accept destructive values for the nation. -MOLOTOV: Ohoho... you took the news from anti-Islam site. Now that must be very bias and one-sided. Well, let me explain one by one : a. The protestan church was attacked NOT BY MUSLIM GROUP but by a motor gank, a group of wild and rebellous youths. They were angry because police raided them so they released their anger on church, maybe randomly selected. So yeah, it was a pure crime and a petty one. Crime happened everywhere, not only in Indonesia. Statistic shows that USA has the biggest number of crime in the world. b. The governor who was attacked was muslim. The culprit made the mobs angry, proof that Indonesian didn't tolerate such a thing at all moreover to fellow muslims. c. About Poso, don't make me repeat again. Just read above. 4. You along with liberal Islam aren't count because first you are nonmuslim; second, those liberal Islamist and you mostly don't live in that area; third, the people there are alright. No demonstration or any uproar. So why bother to force them to accept outsiders' comments when they DON'T WANT IT? They are perfectly happy with it. For your information, The Minister of Home Affairs doesn't disagree with the law. And your statement that the law is not Islamic is funny. Indonesia Ulema Council has supported it. Also your statement that "christian runs as militant" is wrong because I never heard such a thing and as far as I know they still have 2% of minority. You must learn not to interfere with other's business moreover when the people are fine with their decision. So you see that all your points are REFUTED. Not even one of your points are right about Indonesia. Every negative things you wrote are WRONG. Well, that is because you saw only from one-sided and referred mostly to western or Islamophobic source. So where is your words that those are not "western views"? It is also a proof that your accusation is indeed unbalanced. Not going to work. I won't ever let you to mislead the opinion of my muslim brothers and sisters here about Indonesia while in fact it is really a good country for muslims to live. Now I want to make clear that Indonesia doesn't support killing for no reason, but as I said above, the country has rights to prevent the spreading of anything wrong according to them. You on the other hand have no rights to judge or force anything to be applied in Indonesia. So, from the discussion, it can be seen that Indonesia is an ideal place for MUSLIMS to live because while it is open to any new values in the world, it still protects basic values got from Islam. I read in international Islamic forum that my brothers and sisters in west or any muslim-minority countries often are bullied or don't have freedom to practise their religion. That is why I wrote on this Islamic forum about a peaceful muslim-majority country that are safe, have good people, easy language and modern enough to support muslims in this era. Indonesia is indeed a perfect country for muslim to live.
  24. 15 Reasons For Muslim To Live In Indonesia

I am not unhappy but I saw that you were trying to make image of Indonesia worse without even knowing the real problems. I knew you have visited Indonesia but only for several times and your point of view is heavily influenced by western media that most of them won't bother to make good impression of Islam. That is why I was answering all your points as autentic as I could so people here not only know from western side but also from Islamist side. Now back to your statements: 1. You wrote as if there was no improvement in corruption eradication in Indonesia. Of course there are a lot of improvements! This era in Indonesia is so much cleaner than let's say 10 years ago. Bribing, piracy, brothel, etc cease a lot. "Paying the authority" to make dirty works keep going is so much less than the old days and polices are working hard to fight them now. These people are almost winning this battle. CEC is doing a great job and strikes fear in the heart of government that want to corrupt. Insha Allah corrupted life in Indonesia will be gone in the near future 2. It is very rare. A whistle blower will even get protection from the government by special body called Witness and Victim Protection Organization. Of course you must have a strong evidence to back-up your claim. Mostly reported corruption will be taken care seriously. If it is just small corrupted case like "an officer blackmailed me on the street" usually the chief will punish the one and no one will sue you 3. Wait... wait... who says to you that "Christian in one of these towns would be chased down the street. Potentially jailed"? All my life I NEVER heard Indonesians did those things! NEVER Indonesians will chase down INNOCENT man or make him go to jail just because of his religion! Don't make bad assumption without proofs! It can be called "LYING!" 4. The women behind the rider can still sit but not straddling. They can sit sideways like a princess reading horse. Never heard of it? So they are still BE ABLE to ride motorcycle. So what is your point? And motorcycle is not everything for Indonesians. No motorcycle doesn't mean doom for Indonesians. For your information, there are many people there who do not have motorcycle and they happily use public transportations or walk. For me, as long as the law doesn't contradict with Sharia, I will support it and Insha Allah I don't see any verses in Quran that forbid it. Your judgement is irrelevant because you are nonmuslim that will always have different point of views with us. I suggest you to read Quran before pointing someone to read it, moreover if that "someone" you mean is muslim. Last but not least, try to do research about Indonesia before you point your finger towards it. Indonesia is such a great country and it is a shame if its image is tainted by some negatives issues got from unbalanced and bias sources
  25. 15 Reasons For Muslim To Live In Indonesia

I am not being bias but Indonesia clearly is not as bad as you wrote. Here are your answers: 1. You obviously miss the latest development of Indonesia. President Soeharto is old story and maybe you don't know that his son has served in jail for years. He lived in era when Corruption Eradication Commission (CEC) was not exist. Now that era is over and his family members don't have strong influence like before. And your statement that CEC (not ECE) has not made real difference is not true. They have significantly reduced corruption by arresting hundreds of top level corrupted governments there, even the minister, the current president's family, and the head of the ruling party are not exception. About corruption that you mentioned at airport or else, that because you didn't read the rules before doing something there. If you were being carefree, then people would take advantage of you moreover you were westerner that assumed to be "rich" by people there. That is not new even in many countries. Polices in Indonesia have been better than before. They worked hard to not corrupt anymore. If you caught up speeding then maybe you were really speeding. The rules of speeding in Indonesia and Australia is different so don't expect the same treatment. And breaking the rules on the road in Indonesia INDEED makes people pay. That is not uncommon even in western countries. I see Indonesia seriously wants to change to be better but it can't be done in one day. From the downfall of Soeharto's tyranny to reformation era only took 15 years so don't judge it by western standard. 2. When I said to report to higher ups, I was not joking. Either you directly go to the one in charge's room to report it or write to the media about that, Insha Allah it will be taken care of. It does not always need police to settle these things, but you can report it to police if it is really severe and I assure you that you won't be rejected. And as I said before, Indonesian polices have gone through drastic change. They are not the same one like in Soeharto's era. They keep trying to be better and reduce corruption as much as they can. Even they have sticker about anti-corruption on several police vehicles. If you read latest news of Indonesia, you will see that one of the police generals there now is arrested by CEC. 3. I don't know that terrorism now has the new meaning as "religiously motivated attacks". That "religiously motivated attacks" are actually Indonesian Sunni muslims that protested againts shiite or ahmadiya. No wonder. More than 90% of Indonesian muslims are Sunni and as far as I know, it was the minority sects that didn't want to respect the majority sect. And did you know that 430 churches that you wrote to be closed are actually breaking Indonesian rules? Many of them didn't complete the requirements to build a building in Indonesia, misuse the permit of building in Indonesia (the christians said the building was for office or home but in fact it was for church, so basically they were lying. That misusing of permit is illegal in Indonesia and the building can be closed and not only happen to christian but to muslim as well when he misused the permit of his house to be office), trick the people nearby to collect their signatures by saying it was for aid but in fact for building church (certain minimum amount of signatures from people nearby is needed to build a prayer place in Indonesia and it also works for masjid. In western Indonesia, it is hard to build masjid because of this), etc. And now after rejected, they made issue as if Indonesia is not tolerant to attract sympathy internationally and to make Islam in Indonesia's image worse. If only they are not breaking the rules, the churches can be built without problem. Just in case you don't know, masjid is also rejected in many western countries. You should see both sides so won't have misperception. 4. When you said "rejection" from muslim of Indonesia about Sharia, did you mean the "liberal Islam" thingy? Of course they will reject it and of course western media would take their comment as "part of Indonesia". In fact, many people in Indonesia have rejected this liberal Islam including famous celebrity. I think the law is not prohibiting women to ride motorcycle because if so then it will be stated directly that "no motorcycle for women". As far as I read, the law is for the women who sit behind the rider. What is wrong with not straddling for women who sit behind? And motorcycle is not the only transportation there, but there are many means of transportation as well. It is funny to think that Indonesian women will refuse to go for the daily needs just because there is no motorcycle. How do you think Indonesian people live before motorcycle comes? Note to you that Indonesians don't mind to walk or use another means of transportation as long as they can fulfill their needs. I am not being injustice. I have said on first post that Indonesia is not a perfect country, but Indonesia is indeed trying to be better. And "violence" or "restriction of women" that you said are irrelevant as I explained above. Indonesia is safe, muslim majority, one of key players in the world now, and peaceful. That is why I highly recommend it for muslims to live.
