1. How do you rate IF?

Honestly, in my opinion, the forum was better in the past than it is now. I come here mostly to learn Islam more. Now that long posts are not allowed, and so many knowledgeable posters with valuable posts no longer active here, and for some other reasons, I feel this is not the best place for me any longer.... For example, Advanced Islamic Discussion Forum is no different with the basic now. well, that's my opinion.... and thank you anyway
2. Vidoe download of Thsunami

Assalamu alaikum, newly released video can be watched here. Metro TV broadcast the video since Sunday Januari 9, 2004. The cameramen was on rooftop of a building in Masjid Baiturrahman complex, in Banda Aceh. 3. Ten Major Signs of the Last Day

Waalaikum salam wa rahmatAllahi wabarakatuh, Brother thank you very much for the hadith. Now, how do we know that the two hadith talk about the same events? What evidence do we have, please? Are there another text that relating the two hadith? What does 'khasf' really mean? It is earthquake, or landslide, or sinking ground? I found different translations of that word, to both English and Indonesian. Sorry for posing so many questions. I would like to learn more. I have two books regarding the Last Day and it's signs, and none of them mentioning that the three major khasaf/earthquakes/landslides found on hadith Muslim are in Madina. Can you please suggest a book or an article for me to read? Jazakallah khair
4. Ten Major Signs of the Last Day

Assalamu alaikum, Is it true? I don't know this. What does the text really say, please? Jazakallah khair. Wassalamu alaikum
5. Indonesia Needs Help, Death Toll Expected To Exceed 400,000 KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- The death toll in Acheh, the region worst hit by last Sunday's tsunami, may exceed 400,000 as many affected areas could still not be reached for search and rescue operations, Indonesia's Ambassador to Malaysia Drs H. Rusdihardjo said Thursday. He said the estimate was based on air surveillance by Indonesian authorities who found no signs of life in places like Meulaboh, Pulau Simeulue and Tapak Tuan while several islands off the west coast of Sumatera had "disappeared". He said the latest death toll of more than 40,000 in Acheh and northern Sumatera did not take into account the figures from the other areas, especially in the west of the region. "Aerial surveillance found the town of Meulaboh completely destroyed with only one buiding standing. The building, which belonged to the military, happens to be on a hill," he told reporters after receiving RM1 million in aid for Indonesia's Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund here Thursday. Rusdihardjo said there were about 150,000 residents in Meulaboh, which was located 150km from the epicentre of the earthquake while Pulau Simeuleu had a population of 76,000. -- BERNAMA "you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_www.bernama(contact admin if its a beneficial link)/bernama/v3/news_lite.php?id=111574"]you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_www.bernama(contact admin if its a beneficial link)/bernama/v3/news_lite.php?id=111574
6. Mass funeral

Assalamu alaikum, what is the ruling of mass funeral in Islam? It is so sad to watch the mass funeral of tsunami victims in Aceh. Indonesian ulema said the mass funeral is alright in this crisis, with several condition. The bodies of men and women should be separated, and the bodies should not be piled up one another. And the prophet told us to respect the deceased as if they are alive. At the beginning the rescuers did as the ulema said. But not any longer. Now we watch hundreds of bodies were dumped by buldozer into mass graves as if they are garbage. No pray. No ceremony. The reacuers said they are racing with time. A group of rescuers said they have to bury 2000 corpses each day. We are never good in disaster rescue-operation and relief-effort in small-scale natural disaster. And this one is so huge beyond belief. To make it worse, Aceh government staff, Aceh field experts, its rescuers team, Aceh Policemen, Aceh military personnels, have also perished in the quake and tsunami in great number. Tens of thousands have been buried, and another tens of thousands yet to be evacuated and buried. It seem like a never ending job for the rescuers. So in the few days the saddening mass funeral will go on. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun May Allah forgive us
7. Waalaikum salam, Very true, brother. Jazakallah khairan for the reminder wassalamu alaikum
8. Islam In Indonesia

Assalamu alaikum, Aceh rebels have made many Aceh people suffer (as does the military). They killed many Aceh people who do not support their struggle. They force Aceh people to pay tax to them while they have no authority upon them. They destroy people property who they think 'pro Indonesia'. My uncle's houses were burnt down by them along with other houses in that area. They did unIslamic things, but yes they are muslims who pray regularly and fasting in ramadhan. We are sick of the violence of the conflict. Hopefully this tragedy that befall Aceh will end the conflict insha Allah and then they reunite and rebuild Aceh together (hopefully....) Their motivation is not religious. Their movement is purely politic, to gain power. Remember, when the government decide to implement Shariah Law in Aceh in 2002, it is Free Aceh Movement (GAM) who has opposed the decision. Implementing Shariah Law was not on their agenda. Their goal is to establish a sultanate who govern Sumatra. Wassalamu alaikum
9. Assalamu alaikum salam, Jazakallah khair brother Hashi. This is such a difficult time. No word can describe. Actually I feel so worry not only for my own cousin who is still missing in Banda Aceh, but also for those survivors who had lost everything except what they're wearing. We eager to help, as much as we can, but still they haven't received any aid because relief effort face enormous difficulties. The scope of destruction and death is 'beyond belief', as a UN official in Jakarta said. Death toll is multiplying faster than we could bury. So many corpses litter everywhere in Aceh. So few manpower to do the relief effort, to clean up the debris etc. Aceh is lawless, because many high functionary official in Aceh have perished. Military personnels, field experts, police officers, local government, are among the victims. Road are blocked, bridged are destroyed, not enough heavy equipment and manpower. So many people out there without food, clean water, clothes, and shelter. Rescue operation is so poor, poor coordination. Those people are still hunger and unsheltered and this is the fifth day. I feel so sad for them. Food and medical aid are there, but they can't get it through them quickly. The scale of destruction is unbelievable. Allah is powerful above all thing. Jazakallah for the words brother, but I still feel so sad for them....
10. Assalamu alaikum, Most video footage of the devastating tsunami in Asia were shot by tourists in several tourist spot such as Patong, Phuket, and Sri Lanka. Here in Indonesia it is a pious muslimah who shot the devastating moment with her handycam. Her name is Putri, and mash Allah she is so beautiful in her hijab when being interviewed by Metro TV. She and her family were preparing to attend a family gathering when suddenly the earth began to shake. Minutes later when the earthquake has stopped, she run into the house to pick her handycam and start to shoot everything. Her house is about 1 kilometer from the beach of Banda Aceh. When someone shouted "Water is coming, water is coming!" she and her family and some neighbors run into the house and racing to the first storey of their home for safety. This sister shoot the horrifying moment when water forcefully wash away everything forcefully.... SubhanAllah. She keep shooting, and start asking for forgiveness from her parents and everyone else. She keep shooting and in the same time recite zikr repeteadly, ask Allh's forgiveness "Astagfirullah al adhim," and sometimes "Ya Salaam, salimna, Ya Salaam, salimna." She did that until the water slowly recede. At Tuesday she flew to Jakarta, and on Wednesday she gave her tape to Metro TV, an Indonesian news television. When asked why she keep shooting when death was so near, she answered," I prayed to Allah that if I survive I will give out what I have shot so that other people will get the picture of what had happened there." When asked why she seemed so calm and sound in such a terrifying moment, here is her answer, "I just did what I can do, running into higher place, praying to Allah and reciting zikr, and then leaving the rest to Allah." SubhanAllah. Metro TV aired the footage repeteadly since Wednesday evening. And that video footage was indeed remind us of how Powerful Allah is. He is powerful over all thing. I cannot describe what I see in words. SubhanAllah.... May Allah bless her for letting us know the horrifying moment so that we can take it as a reminder... Insha Allah you can see part of the video footage in here "you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_www.katc(contact admin if its a beneficial link)/Global/story.asp?S=2744317&nav=EyAzUeJr"]you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_www.katc(contact admin if its a beneficial link)/Global/story.asp?S=2744317&nav=EyAzUeJr Wassalamu alaikum warahmatullah
