  2. Bayern Munich Build Mosque For Muslims

Bayern Munich Build Masjid for Muslims MUNICH – Helping their players to fulfil their religious duties, German football giants Bayern Munich have decided to build a Masjid to help Muslim footballers to perform their prayers. The German football club agreed to a request to build a Masjid in the Allianz Arena stadium to serve its Muslim players and fans. The request was made by the club’s Muslim midfielder Bilal Franck Ribery, who asked for specifying a small room for players to perform their prayers. The new Masjid would serve Muslim players and fans with a full time imam, an Islamic library and Islamic sessions. The administration also announced that they will finance 85 percent of the costs of the worship place, leaving 15% to Muslim players and fans who want to participate. The news about the new Masjid was made public via the club's official site. Founded in 1900, Bayern Munich is the top tier of the German football league system, and is the most successful football club in Germany. The football giants have won a record 23 national titles and 15 cups. The club won its first national championship in 1932. Bayern Munich is the biggest sports club in Germany and the fourth biggest football club in the world, generating €368.4 million in 2012. Bayern is not the first European club to build a Masjid for its Muslim players after New Castle United specified a prayer room for Muslim players. Muslims pray five times a day, with each prayer made of a series of postures and movements, each set of which is called a rak‘ah. The five prayer times are divided all through the day which starts with Fajr prayer at dawn. http://www.onislam.net/english/news/europe/462624-bayern-munich-muslim-players-get-mosque.html
  3. Joplin Masjid razed in fire; 2nd blaze this summer Associated Press View Gallery A Carl Junction, Mo., firefighter works to extinguish the smoldering remains of the Islamic Society of Joplin Masjid, Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, in Joplin, Mo. The fire was the second fire to hit the Islamic center in little more than a month. (AP Photo/The Joplin Globe, T. Rob Brown) MANDATORY CREDIT JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) — A Masjid in southwest Missouri burned to the ground early Monday in the second fire to hit the Islamic center in little more than a month, officials said. The fire at the Islamic Society of Joplin was reported about 3:30 a.m. Monday, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office said. The sheriff's department said the building was a total loss. No injuries were reported and no charges have been filed. Imam Lahmuddin, who leads the Masjid and was in the building until late Sunday, said he was "sad and shocked" about the fire. "I'm still in front of the building looking at the damage and nothing can be saved," Lahmuddin said in a telephone interview Monday. "But since we are people of faith we just can remember that this is a thing that happened because God let it happen, and we have to be patient, particularly in the month of Ramadan, control our emotions, our anger." A blaze at the same building July 4 caused minor damage and was determined arson. No arrests were made and the FBI has offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to charges in that fire. The agency released video footage of what appeared to be a man starting the July blaze that did not cause extensive damage. Sharon Rhine, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, said the center's security cameras were burned in the Monday fire. The FBI is investigating the cause of the latest fire and whether or not it was also the result of arson, said agency spokeswoman Bridgett Patton. A Washington-based Muslim civil rights organization meanwhile called for more police protection at Masjids and other houses of worship following the Joplin fire and a deadly attack at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. The Council on American-Islamic Relations also offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever started the Masjid fire. About 50 families belong to the Islamic Society of Joplin, which opened in 2007 as a Masjid and community center. The FBI led an investigation in 2008 when the Masjid's sign was torched. That crime also remained unsolved. Lahmuddin, who has lived in Joplin for about four years, said several people were at the center late Sunday. He said despite the attacks, the center's members have good relationships with residents and other churches. He said many are doctors at area hospitals. On Sunday, a gunman killed six people at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee. The imam said it was a cause of great concern that both faiths had seemingly come under attack. "I heard that yesterday, and this morning we see this happen in our place," he said. "We are more fortunate that no one here got hurt in this incident." Source: http://news.yahoo.co...-160342127.html
  4. Syrian troops attack Masjid, 30 feared dead AMMAN | Tue Jul 24, 2012 3:49pm EDT (Reuters) - Syrian troops killed up to 30 worshippers as they were entering a Masjid to attend Ramadan evening prayers in a village northwest of the city of Hama, opposition activists said on Tuesday. "Troops and shabbiha (militia loyal to President Bashar al-Assad) left the roadblock on the edge of Shariaa and crossed the main road and began firing automatic rifles at the worshippers as they were entering the Masjid," Jamil al-Hamwi, one of the activists, said by telephone from al-Ghab Plain. "We have confirmed the names for 15 bodies and it is estimated there is a similar number still to be collected from the streets," Hamwi, who uses a pseudonym for safety reasons, said. The roadblock was manned by troops backed by tanks as well as militiamen recruited from Alawite villages near Shariaa, he added. Assad belongs to the same (Alawite) minority sect, an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam. A statement by the Hama Revolutionary Council said: "The village Masjid has 15 bodies (in it) so far. Transport of the dead and wounded is ongoing. The streets are strewn with bodies." It was impossible to confirm the report immediately. Syrian authorities have banned most independent media from the country. 5. I think a non-Muslim, who is without a doubt spiritually impure and forever unloved by God (Allah) for being a disbeliever, should not be allowed in the masjid/noble house of Allah. A non-Muslim who sits in a masjid is like an unwelcome jew who is lingering about among many nazis. What do you think, brothers and sisters in Islam? Are disbelivers allowed in masjids?
