faith_88 0 Posted November 6, 2004 :D ^ hmm...isn't there a rule against posting in a different language? I'm not sure though, well i'm half egyptian! Egypt has got it's extremes, in class- i've got these guys that don't fast because they "need" to smoke, but then i've got this other classmate who sits there and reads the Quar'an. :D ! But im just talking about the youth here, their parents are kinda different. Most of the kids are sent to religion classes by their parents ...i wonder why they turn out this way. :P
ummammaar 0 Posted November 6, 2004 :D Arabic is allowed sis, as far as I recall.
ummammaar 0 Posted November 10, 2004 :D Just thought I'd share what I have been told by reliable people. Al Fajr Center in Cairo is really good, although not free. Someone else, however, said that Alex. is better. Also, I forgot what city but the masjid where Shaykh Usama Qoosee teaches is good. He teaches in fusha.. and it's free, i.e. if you want to study the deen there.

Introvert 0 Posted November 10, 2004 Is beard banned in Egypt?
faith_88 0 Posted November 11, 2004 :D lolz...no, beards aren't banned in Egypt. Why would they be? :w:
Introvert 0 Posted November 11, 2004 My friend told me that. I thought they would be considered extreme.
Tamarbutah 0 Posted November 11, 2004 :D Yes a friend told me also you can get put in jail just for having a beard. :D
borbus 0 Posted November 11, 2004 Salaam, There are some HT bros fom the UK in prison over there, aren't there? And Al-Ikhwan are banned over there, right? Naively, I'd have thought that Muslim groups wouldn't be banned like that in Muslim countries. If I remember correctly, they make a note of people who are going to the Masjid for Fajr as people to keep an eye on apparently. :D Wassalaam.
Nile_Salafy 63 Posted November 13, 2004 :D how are you all, i guess HT means the hizbu, right, yes they are in jail here, and ofcourse Ikhwan muslimeen is banned from egypt, that's why amr khaled was kicked out, and lots of others. For the bread matter, ofcourse they are not welcomed here by the gov. and for the majority of muslims here u'd be extremist, and I was speaking to my freinds the other day about having a wife, and she should be having niqaab, they are a smaple of the majorty here, doing the fard, they were like , r u an extremist now ? does Islam tell u that ? u want to scare people ? and one of them did haj the year before, he said he doughts that the hijab is a fard, its only when women pary they have to wear it. So we got lots of sorts of muslims here. ÃÎàãÇ ÇáãÓÇÚÃ?É ÇáÊàÃÂÂãßä Ãä ÃÞÃ?ãåÇ ááß ¿ :D
faith_88 0 Posted November 13, 2004 :D Okay- so they're frowned upon but not banned right? Cuz i see lots of men with beards here...hmm, odd. Nobody should ever be put in jail for having a beard...especially because it's sunnah to have one :P *sigh* but i get what you mean when you say the majority think that they're extremists. My how society has changed...instead of praising people for their good, we look down upon them. :D :w:
Nile_Salafy 63 Posted November 13, 2004 :D aslong as u have a beard, then u must be knowldegable about Islam, so that make's an eye on u, and what u say, that's why the ikhwan dont have beards on, it keep the eye of the gov. away from them until they know there ikhwan from another source, and then they get locked up. Do u think they care if it is a sunnah !!! noway, u see the matter is like this, Islam wakes muslims up, and they start to look around them, and mainly start asking what's the gov. doing right and wrong, and for sure they dont want that. They only want the muslims here to only care about there daily life matter and dont interfear with anything else, so Islam here is only u can pary, fast, zakah, haj. So the beard for the gov. is like muslims are wakeing up, and that's a no no here, and u got my piont for the majorty of mulims here, u'll be extremist. U know what, when the local TV here shows a searies, if a guy shows up with a beard, head cover and a white jilbab then he's a terorist. and just to make sure, beard=sunnah head cover=sunnah white jilbab=sunnah So its just an Indirect Formal Way ( loacl TV ) for say no for Islam. :D
faith_88 0 Posted November 13, 2004 :D :P Wow...so much is going on here and i didn't even know it! I can now understand the justification for it ...but i don't exactly agree with it. Ikhwan? Sorry i might sound naive..but what exactly is that? Is it some sort of fanatic organization? :D Grr- and the local tv is horrible..it's not often you see a properly (islamically)dressed woman on it. No, instead we have women with fake blonde hair and tons of make-up...sorry, i'm ranting now. And also...you mentioned that having a beard meant that you have knowledge about Islam, and then you went on to say that this meant you had the governments eye on you. See thats just what i mean-it's horrible when it gets to the point where, whats good is bad. *sigh* can't really explain it...like when it gets to the point where every guy with a beard is a suspected of being a terrorist...even though they might just be knowledgable about their deen. :P
Nile_Salafy 63 Posted November 13, 2004 :D so i guess u kinda got what i mean, but may i ask, r u living in egypt ? u dont know ikhwan muslimeen, le gama ? :D
borbus 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Salaam, Al-Ikhwaan Al-Muslimoon (The Muslim Brotherhood) are arguably not that radical. Founded by Imam Hasan Al-Banna (Grandfather of Tariq Ramadan who you might have heard of) who was assassinated because he was getting a little too much support. Easiest to do a search if you like for info. Wassalaam.
faith_88 0 Posted November 16, 2004 :D No, i don't mind if you ask. Yes...i live here in Egypt- but this is only my second year. I've lived abroad my whole life- so i don't really know much about my country. I will "you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_www.google(contact admin if its a beneficial link)"]google it though...it's scary that i didn't hear about this until just now! :w:
sis Qassab 0 Posted November 16, 2004 Tariq Ramadan ?? Isn't he kuwaiti? So in Egypt, people are kicked out if they are a little to influencive Islamicly?? And how does the process of kicking out people go on about? Do they like send a letter and go like: Hi, you're a little too Islamic so please leave the country? I bet they're much more agressive than that. :D
Nile_Salafy 63 Posted November 17, 2004 :D welcome home sis. and hope insha Allah that u "you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_www.google(contact admin if its a beneficial link)"]google around well, and dont be serprised from what u see. I dont think he gets a letter, its more in a from of a visit at his house or to the national security building, then he's instructed where to go out of egypt. Like in the case of amr khaled, what i heard is that the came to his house at night, and he was in UK in the morning, so it depends how level u r in as a threat to the national security, and that if ur lucky. . . . . . . .other times u could end up locked here in egypt for quit some time, and no one from your family knows where u r, dead or alive, and belive me there's alot of cases like that . . . . . . .so lucky amr. :D

flowerpower 0 Posted November 19, 2004 Since I've heard about the locusts that have been hitting Cairo and parts of Egypt, I could only think of the Prophet Moses and the nine signs that God sent upon the people of Egypt. "So We sent on them: the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, and the blood: (as a succession of) manifest signs, yet they remained arrogant, and they were of those people who were Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). " (Chapter: 7 verse: 133) Is this also a sign for us muslims in Egypt that we haven't been practicing our religion correctly?! Because if it was then we are facing a collosal problem, especially this being a week only after the Holy month of Ramadan! I think everyone should look deep inside their souls and search for the truth and hopefully return to God and upon that His Qur'an and the Prophet's :saa: Sunnah "And indeed We have sent down for you Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) that make things plain, and the example of those who passed away before you, and an admonition for those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious)." (Chapter: 24 verse:34) In the end I can only pray for us Muslims all over the world. "Our lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Suppor-ter and Protector) and give us victory over the disbelieving people." :D
