Chick Peas...

Need extra protein but don't fancy eating meat or chicken? :D


Try this...


three handfuls of dried chick peas should be soaked in water overnight. Otherwise use the tinned (Boiled & salted) chickpeas.



1 tin of chickpeas,

1 Small Onion, finely chopped,

2 Cloves Garlic, Grated,

1/2 teaspoon of fresh ginger,

6 fresh green chillies,

2 tomatoes, diced,

fresh coriander.

Cooking oil


Salt to taste,

Chilli Powder 1/4 teaspoon.

Tumeric Powder 1/2 teaspoon.

Curry powder 1 teaspoon

Cumin Powder 1/4 teaspoon.


(If you are boiling the chickpeas yourself, Add some salt when boiling the chickpeas! Do not discard of the water!)



Heat wok, add oil, heat little, then add garlic, onion and ginger, in that order. Then add the salt. Saute until onions have melted. Add all the spices. then add the tomatoes and chillies. Cook until tomatoes have melted down into a thick sauce. Add chieckpeas, and cook for 2 - 3 minutes, stirring constantly... add water, bring to boil then simmer. Wait until the water has been reduced by half then add coriander. :D


Serve with pitta bread, Tortilla Wraps , Nan or plain bread! :D

Asalaamo aleykum sister,


My children and I love Chick peas very much ! we eat them regular with meat or in the weekend kidna like you made it but we add garam masala and a potatoe or two in small pieces and make puri's aside to eat it with . :D
