Skin Cancer. I'm Afraid I Might Have It.

Recommended Posts

Salaam. I've always given things an image bigger than they're at, but this time I'm really scared. I've recently had some small skin patches that peel, namely on my arm and one on my foot. I've also had sort of pink pimples that appeared a little under my shoulders. And then I noticed the number of brown spots that come from the sun have increased a little and a couple are black. My skin itches (though I have allergy to dust mite which always caused itching) and I feel tired. I'm really scared and I can't go to a Dr. till tomorrow. Can someone give me an expectation of what to expect at the Dr's? I'm having this image of the Dr. having a sad look on his face before telling me the news of having skin cancer :'(. Does someone know anything on the subject? Thanks and salaam. :D

Assalamu alaikum

It's common in western countries, not sure about lebanon.

The best advice will be from a doctor.

Insha Allah all will be well. Perhaps it just an allergic reaction of some sort, but always better to get to the doc as soon as possible. Skin cancer is often curable in its early stages.

Salaam. Haven't gone to a Dr. since today they were all closed. I have to go on Monday but now my stomach hurts as hell and I feel like I'm gonna collapse. Don't know if it was because I smoked today and drank coffee. I hope it's because of that. :D Salaam.

Calm down chill out! :D

You don't know what it is yet so stop worrying so much please, don't always assume the worst. Just see what doc has to say and stop smoking because that will not help you. May Allah keep you healthy and strong always...ameen

Aslam-o-alaikum brother

first of all it can be many things, there are hundreds and hundreds of skin diseases that exist, most treatable.

you will not know for sure until you see your doctor who will examine your skin, will ask you questions about the affected areas then decide whether to refer you to a hospital specialist for further tests and treatment. A specialist in skin diseases is called a dermatologist. Your treatment may be carried out by the dermatologist. Depending on the area of the body affected by the cancer and the type of treatment that is necessary you may be referred to a general surgeon, a plastic surgeon or a clinical oncologist (radiotherapy and chemotherapy specialist).

The specialist will be able to tell a great deal from a simple examination of the affected area of skin. However, it is not always possible to distinguish between skin cancers and benign conditions by examination alone. You may be advised to have a biopsy. This is a quick and simple procedure which can usually be done in the outpatients department using a local anaesthetic. The doctor will remove all or part of the lump and send it to the laboratory for analysis under a microscope by a pathologist.

i understand your concern however as, i dont know about lebanon, but in the UK skin cancer is on the increase, it is the second most common cancer in the United Kingdom so get it checked.

you'll be pleased to know that black- or brown-skinned people have a very low risk of developing skin cancer because the melanin pigment in their skin gives them protection. however im sure you you are aware that smoking increases risk, as does over exposure to sun or certain chemicals. Diet plays a big part too so eat healthy with plenty of greens and anti-cancer property based foods such as strawberries etc

its much more treatable when caught early like most cancer so brother do not delay. it can be other things like eczema, allergies, heat rashes, sweat, blocked pores and follicles or fungal infections. so try not to worry. hope that helps.

wasalaam

Well smoking surely isn't going to help.

Keep doing du'a....seek your Lord, at times of need. Insha'Allah he will grant you a quick recovery Just wait for the doc to say what it is. No point jumping to conclusions. Have some patience and faith brother.

Wa alaykumus salam

Salaam all. First of all I want to say thank you all for your concern and good will: you've really helped me. So did it turn out to be cancer? Nope. The skin infections were some other treatable snags while the dizziness and stomach ache are as yet to be defined. I've been given medicine for the dizziness and stomach ache, and if they remain, I shall go back to the doctor's in a couple o' days. I quit smoking thank God. May God reward you all for your help and concern. I'll update you on this guys. Salaam and <3 for all.

Alhamdulillah.

Allah helped you out bro, we are only here to make duaa for you and give you well wishes :D

Remember that Du'aa is the weapon of the believers against anything, and always supplicate for the blessing of good health.

Perhaps you should cut down on the caffeine as well; too much of a good thing can be bad for you. :D

Salaam sis. I thank Allah always (praise be to Him), and there's no need for me to jot it down to show my gratitude to Him :D. Oh, and I don't drink coffee hehe; it just happened that that day I drank some because we were in a cafe and I felt like trying it out. :D Salaam brothers and sisters and peace be upon you all.
