Chemistry Help

Asalamu alaikum,

I have this question as an example in my book, and there's something that i don't understand.

Calculate the solubility product of silver, given that its solubility is 2.5mg% and the Mwt of Ag2CO4 is 332g.

And in the answer they have 2.5 multiplied by 10. Why is that?

First of all, I'm curious if you meant Ag2Cr04?

Second, is the #10 in the answer raised to an exponent? EG 2.5*10^-12

Asalamu alaikum,

Yes, it is Ag2CrO4 (silver chromate), sorry.

No, it's just a 10.

Here's the equation:

Molar solubility of Ag2CrO4= (2.5 x 10)/(1000 x 332)= 7.5x10^-5 M

What they did is Converting absolute solubility to molar solubilty.
