Islamophobia

Recommended Posts

According to Dictionary Phobia is “a persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.†Therefore the neologism "Islamophobia" implies that Islam is not dangerous and the fear of it is irrational.

This claim has not been established and it is not universally agreed upon. There are many who argue that Islam is indeed a dangerous ideology and they have their logical arguments to prove their claim. Irrespective of whether the critics of Islam are right or wrong about whether Islam is dangerous or not, calling them “phobic†implies that their criticism has been already refuted and the irrationality of their fear of Islamic threat has been established. Therefore their disagreement with Islam is not logical but a mental disorder.

Islamophobia makes no sense at all. It is as meaningless as "Fascistophobia". Of course people have the right to disagree and criticize any ideology, whether good or bad. The goodness of an ideology is in the eyes of the beholder. Inhibiting criticism of an ideology is infringing upon the basic human rights, which is freedom of speech.

The absurdity of the Muslim mind is such that they think it is okay for them to incite hate against the non-Muslims in general and the Jews in particular and yet it is not okay for others to criticize their ideology of hate.

The problems with that argument is: what is "Islam"? There is no monolithic Islam, like every big religion thre are different groups, opinions, customs ...

Is al Qaida Islam, or Bassam Tibi? Do Sufis, or do (www.)"you can't post links until you reach 50 posts_en.wikipedia(contact admin if its a beneficial link)/wiki/Alevi"]Alevis[/url] represent "the" Islam? We cannot discuss it here because "sect issues" are banned in this forum, and as an outsider I think it is wise not to decide such an issue (do you want a Muslim to decide what ist "the" Christianity?).

Islamophobia may exist in the form of identifying every kinds of Islam with that radical forms that are dangerous. One should make a difference between those who live a peaceful Islam, and those fascists that do not even allow a person to leave Islam or to interpret it in another way then they do.

Thanks God there are many Muslims that don't think that way. But many of them don't dare to criticise their radical "brothers" openly. This is what makes the radical Islamofascists so dangerously.

This is also partly an argument over semantics. While the dictionary may say the definition of a word is one thing, the practical use of the word may be another. "Islamaphobia", as it is used by many people, simply means a fear of Islam. No judgment is insinuated as to whether that fear is rational or not.

One should make a difference between those who live a peaceful Islam, and those fascists that do not even allow a person to leave Islam or to interpret it in another way then they do.

That is exactly right. Islam means many different things to many different Muslims. Many Muslims gasp in horror at things other Muslims do in the name of Islam and it is wrong to judge all on the actions of a few.

Can you define Christianity?

You can only define a religion in the most broad of terms because even the followers of that religion do not all believe the same.

Islamophobia ? what about Zionist-o-phobia ? Seems to be persistent amongst most muslims on these threads .

And I think that a fair sampling of a crossection .

Som muslims are now claiming the Pope works for the "zionists " or that he IS a zionist .

All in all the term is misleading , for it is mainly , a term used by muslims and non-muslims who feel that there is an unecessarry distrust of muslims in general . And this is due to profiling occurring at airports , and suspicions regarding what is going on in masjids .

I guess if there weren't any plots uncovered , such as that in the U K , and the Phillipines , and the 9/11 attacks there would be no "islamophobia " regarding profiling at airports , or if there hadn't been any incitation or hate speeches going on in masjids resulting in yet more plots being exposed , and 7/7 , then there would be no suspicions as to what goes on in those places , and again no "islamophobia " .

Dont blame the victims for being defensive . For that is natural , given the circumstances that present themselves over and over , day in and day out .

That's just the way it is , better get used to it ,until such a time when things change , and I dont think that will be for quite some time .

And besides , it is not Islam itself that is distrusted , just it's followers .

For a clear delineation between the two .....that burden is on the muslims themselves to make the distinctions , and not by words , for words are cheap , it must be done by actions .

So if muslims continue "cheering on " groups like Hisbolla and Hamas , and making excuse for people like Bin laden ,Zarqawi and Zawahiri then ....expect more "islamophobia " .

Christianity CAN be defined . Even though there are over 300 sects .Yes 300 .

However Christianity at its core , is the belief that there is only ONE way to salvation , and that is through the Christ [lamb ] or Jesus .

Jesus is much much more than a prophet , he is in fact God incranate , the nature of God expressed in flesh [ and the word was made flesh ]

This is the corner stone of the christian faith , anyone calling themselves christian ,believe this , for they can disagree on all else , but their only hope for salvation , is through the propitiation of sin through Jesus.

To christians God is ONE but expressed in three ways GOD , the son-Jesus , and the Spirit ...this is called the trinity .

Those who don't understand call this "poly-theism " .

For the christian scripture staes clearly ...."In the beginning was the Word [jesus ] and the Word was with God , and the Word was God , ....All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made " .....

If anyone denies this , then he is in fact NOT a christian . If anyone wants to know what the essence of christianity consists of, at is foundation , then these can be found in the book of John .

So christianity is thus defined .

For christians Jesus IS the messiah , for Christians there is no mahdi , no connection to Islam or the Prophet whatsoever .

There is however a connection to Judaism , for Jesus WAS a jew , and He came FIRST to the JEW , then to the Greek [all others -there was no Islam at the time of Jesus .]

This is what both Popes believe , this is what all christian sects believe .

It is also therefore an absolute , that religion Can Not Compel , it is anti-thetical to all that christianity is . therefore salvation does not come by religious affiliation . But by ones DECISION , and subsequent walk through life .

There are Christians that claim that Mormons are not true Christians. Again, the definition is subjective.

The "truth" can be subjective also. If Muslims want to support Bin Laden and his ilk then people will react accordingly. Call it the "truth" all you want.

Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses , can not be called christians since both do not consider Jesus as God , it doesn't matter what some christians may "think " , the core belief of christianity states clearly -Jesus IS God incarnate , and the only way to salavtion is through him .

Any group of people can share a common belief and call it religion , andthey can base it on any premise they so choose .

And the results can be quite horrible , as history undeniably shows .

That's the problem with RELIGIONS ....people are willing to kill for them .

Even now , that we are out of the dark ages , the same primitive tribal instincts rule man's soul .

As I said before , if and when the Almighty invades time and space , and finally intervenes .....He will bannish religion forever .

Men have made God in their own image ....murderous , vindictive, jealous , and treacherous .

I am a believer without religion , and I will take my chances .

Men do not need religion to know right from wrong , for if there is a God , by His nature , he cannot be that cruel .

Peace Makko,

No hatred intended, but there is also a connection between Islam and christianty and judaism. First, Islam renewed the basic belief for these religions, the belief in one god. Okay, when Jesus (AS) came people converted to christianity even jews. The left there previous beliefs or religions because a new and renewed religion had come. That is the same thing with Islam, it was more new and renewed.Renewed that is why all christians and muslims don't practice judiasm.I am not saying judiams shouldn't exist or anything by the way. We had proof for the coming of Jesus(as) and Mohamm :D in previous holy books and scriptures.

no hatred intended.

Peace

Peace from our Lord,

No hatred intended, but there is also a connection between Islam and christianty and judaism.

No objection.

First, Islam renewed the basic belief for these religions, the belief in one god.

I have difficulties to understand what You mean by "renew". In almost all aspects, Islam is closer to Judaism than to the revelation through Jesus we have in the New Testament. Maybe the Jewish faith was "renewed" (I wonder whether a Jew would accept that view), but from the Christian point of view Islam is a couple of steps backwards to the time before God used Jesus to save the world.

Okay, when Jesus (AS) came people converted to christianity even jews.

For the Jews, it was no conversion, in the NT conversion is only said of pagans that turned away from their idols to the living God. Jews repented when they accepted Jesus as the Messiah.

The left there previous beliefs or religions because a new and renewed religion had come.

I doubt that "new and renewed" is the right way to describe it. For almost 2,000 years, God had concentrated on one people only to prepare the coming of Jesus, but since Jesus had come the message went to every people, as the Jewish prophets had told before.

"Religion" changed because God had done something that changed the relationship between men and God.

That is the same thing with Islam, it was more new and renewed.

As I said, from a Christian point of view the only way You may call Islam new is a look on the calendar. In every other aspect, it is a sort of religion that has been outdated by what Jesus did.

Peace from our Lord,

If You mean by truth holocaust denial, and by help firing rockets into a Jewish kindergarden, then of course, stopping spreading that deception You call truth and stopping that kind of help will help to overcome Islamophobia.

Now I know that Hamas and Hisbollah do more than that ...

Bulding alternatives, that make it possible to draw a clear distinction between those who spread truth and those who spread hate propaganda, and between those that help people and those that propagate war, that would clear whether the fears called Islamophobia are unduly enlarged - or justified.
