Media Internship - Tfl

Recommended Posts

Transport for London is launching two six-month internships aimed at aspiring PR professionals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities. The scheme has been established in response to the current under-representation of people from BAME communities in TfL’s Press Office and throughout the wider PR industry, particularly at management levels.

Developed in association with The Creative Collective, and in line with the Chartered Institute of Public Relation’s diversity strategy, the internship scheme is an example of our ongoing commitment to reflect London’s diverse communities.

As part of the scheme, you’ll have the opportunity to work in our prestigious, fast-paced press office situated in the heart of local democracy. And as you gain press office experience, you’ll also receive a bursary to help cover the costs of living. Unfortunately, the internship doesn’t guarantee employment with TfL.

To be eligible for an internship, you’ll need to be a permanent resident of the United Kingdom, be ideally of graduate calibre (with ‘A’ levels or equivalent), an undergraduate or have graduated within the past two years. Likewise, similar qualifications from outside the UK will be considered.

In addition, you should demonstrate an interest in media and PR, as well as a passion for London and current affairs in general.

To apply, please send a full CV with a cover letter explaining what interests you most about the TfL internship post. You’ll also need to write a 500 word piece on the following topic: What are the main challenges facing Transport for London over the coming decade, and what are your suggestions for tackling them?

Please post hard copies (no e-mails) of your application to: Transport for London Press Office Internship, c/o The Creative Collective, Suite Forum P, The Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, London N1 0QH.

Closing date:

Tuesday 7 November 2006.

Interviews will be held the week commencing 27 November 2006. Should you require any reasonable adjustments to be made please contact info[at]thecreativecollective.com
