Limerick Thread

Recommended Posts

:sl:

I was just thinking it would be kind of cool to have a thread were people could get creative and write short poems, called limericks. Limericks are easy to write so anyone can join in; you don't have to be a Keats in the making.

For those who don't know, according to Shaykh Google, a limerick is:

A five line poem. The first, second, and fifth lines rhyme and so do the third and fourth. The first, third, and fifth have the same verbal rhythm (meter) and length, and so do the second and fourth.

Let's begin!

There once was a Prophet Muhammed

Abused and ridiculed- so he fled

To a place called Medina

Where the folk were much keener

To embrace his message and be led.

Who's next...

Very good Aaqib, you know I'm a fan of your poetry. But I don't know whether they qualify as limericks.

A limerick is: a five line poem. The first, second, and fifth lines rhyme and so do the third and fourth.

If you take a look at my limerick in the first post. Lines 1,2 and 5 rhyme, and lines 3 and 4 rhyme.

Keep up the creativity, mashaAllah.

And also Aaqib for the words you've said.

Someone with talent like blue_dew.

Dad

There once was a man called dad

Who gave every single thing he had

I often wish that he

was still here to be

for losing one so dear is sad!

(May Allah taala have mercy on his soul. My father passed away nearly five years ago after losing a bout with lung cancer.)

There was a muslim woman from England,

Who wished to have a holiday on sand,

So she went go Goa,

Or was it Kerala?

And invented the built-in Burkha-Sweatband ™.
