How Smart Are You - Again

Recommended Posts

A monk is passing through a kingdom, and is imprisoned by the king. The king tells the monk that he must show the king something spectacular. Upon hearing this, the monk requests a chessboard to be brought forth. The monk tells the king's vizier to put a grain of sand on the first square. Then two grains on the second square, four grains on the third square, and eight grains on the fourth square. He tells the vizier to continue, and for each square, double the amount of grains on the previous square.

When the vizier is done, how many grains of sand are there on the chessboard? How much does the sand weigh?

wow this is a long answer but ill give it a go, on the chessboard all together its 18445730763718949567 grains of sand ,converted into weight you have to first convert the grains into grams which 1 grain = 0.065 grams so we have 1198972499641731721.855 grams, which converted in to pounds is multiplied by0.00220462262 which = 2643281893468103.6499730813601 pounds to be precise, it could be different you use the short form and say 0.0022*... is this right???
