Traditional Methods To Quit Smoking

Recommended Posts

Assalamu Alaikum,

I have some relatives who are struggling with the cigarette addiction and are hoping to quit sometime soon. Unfortunately, it's been hard for them.

I was wondering if anyone is aware of a traditional / herbal method to quit smoking. If so, please share the secrets so I can pass them on. Is there any mixture of herbs or any natural things one can take to stop?

Jazakum Allahu khair!

:sl: sister, :j:

Inshallah your well,

Btw,I've never smoked,alhumduilah. :)

Strongly against it,infact.

Tell them to strive, afterall the addiction will be hard to overcome,so the key is putting full trust in Allah(swt).

And making Duas regularly that they stop smoking.

Tell them to try replacing a fag with fruit and vegetables, inshallah that'll help.

When the craving kicks in,tell them to read the Quran,or read a few nafal prayers, alhumdulilah that'll help. :)

Key is believing you can quit and you will, having a positive attitude really helps.

May Allah help them quit as soon as possible.Ameen.

Inshallah thats helps a little bit.

try the way arabs used to give away alcohol.... I was told that the Azhar scholars, Saudi Scolars, Ibn Baaz, Sheik Garadawi, and others had agreed that smoking is Haram. I read an article about that.

Salaams,

Thank you for your replies bro aaqib and vishah! (though I'm very late in responding).

I think a few scare tactics might help this person. However, I need to do some research. This person wants to quit but doesn't know how and lacks the determination.

I've heard of some traditional medicine where a person has a cup of tomato juice followed by a cup of carrot juice daily after two or three meals. People say that it repels them from the cigarettes.

I'm thankful that I too have never had a cigarette and haven't been drawn into such a nasty habit. Because I don't have experience .. I was hoping to get some advice to help her out.

Anyway, I pray that she quits soon.

Peace

Bro vishah,

When you say, try the way the Arabs used to give up alcohol, do you mean bit by bit (in stages).

I've heard that quitting that way doesn't work for smokers... that it's all or nothing and that they have to quit cold turkey or else they won't quit.

Allahu alem.

Its a chemical addiction when it comes to nicotine. You have a very high failure rate if you go cold turkey as opposed to bit by bit. Its the reason behind nicotine gum and patches, to ween u off
