Ayat al-Kursi is verse 255 of the second chapter (Surah) of the Holy Quran, Surat al-Baqarah (The Chapter of the Cow)

Below is the Arabic text, the transliteration, and the English translation and then some of the benefits of reciting this verse, the Verse of the Throne:

His throne doth extend Over the heavens And on earth, and He feeleth No fatigue in guarding And preserving them, For He is the Most High. The Supreme (in glory)."

[surah al-Baqarah 2: 255][using large font size is not allowed]

Abu Umamah Al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The one who recites it after each of the obligatory prayers, then death will be the only thing preventing him from entering Paradise."

[ibn Sunni, Ibn Hibban]

Abu Dhar said; O Messenger of Allah, what is the greatest thing that has been revealed to you?’ He said, Ayat al-Kursi, 'Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa'

[an-Nasa'i]

Do you know the Ayatul Kursi?" Anas (radiAllahu anhu) replied "I know". The Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said, "It is equal to a quarter of the Qur'an

[b]Rasool Allah peace be upon him said, "Whoever recites Aayatul Kursi after every Fard (Fard Salat). Only death is keeping him/her from entering Jannah. (As soon as he/she dies, will enter Jannah)

(Nisa'i, Ibne Habban, Ibnelsani A'n Abi Amatah Albahili Radiallah Anhu)

It's in another Hadis that Reciting Ayatul Kursi after one Fard (Fard Salat) will stay in Allah's protection until the next Salat.

(Tibrani Fil Kabeer, A'n Alhasan Bin Ali Radiallah Anhu)

Imam Bihaqi States that the one who recites Ayatul Kursi before falling asleep, Allah Tala gives protection to his/her home and his/her Family.

(Marqat Sharah Mishkaat, Mulla Ali Qaderi, vol. 2 pp. 583)

It's in another Hadis Jinns and Shaitans do not come close to the house in which Ayatul Kursi is recited. (Tirmizi Altargheeb Wal Tarheeb Lilmanzari vol.2 pp.631)

Hadrat A'isha Radiallah Anha states that a person arrived in the court of Nabi kareem Sallal Laaho Alaihi Wasallam and complained that there is no Barkat (Blessings) in anything in his home. Rasool Allah peace be upon him said, "You do not recite Ayatul Kursi, whichever Food and Curry you will recite Ayatul Kursi on, Allah Tala will give Blessings on that Food and Curry. This ayat was revealed after Hijrah. During its revealation it was accompanied by thousands of angels because of its greatness and glory.[using large font size is not allowed]

Syaitan and iblis became worried because there is an obstacle in their quest to mislead mankind. Rasulullah s.a.w . immediately ordered Zaid b.Tsabit to write it down and spread the message.

Whoever recites ayat Kursi with full concentration daily after fardhu prayers, every morning and evening before exiting or entering the house or before on a journey, InsyaAllah will be protected from the temptation of syaitan, evil people, wild and dangerous animals, even our family, children and property will be save from harm by Allah s.w.t. According to the book "Asraatul Mufidah".

Whoever practices by reciting it 18 times everyday, will be granted sustenance, gain honour and save from all calamities with Allah's will.

Syeikh Abu Abbas explained that the person who recites it 50 times and breathes it onto rainwater and drinking it InyaAllah will have be blessed with an intelligent mind and

the ease of absorbing knowledge.

For our practice...the Fadhillat ayat Al-Kursi according to the Hadiths, Rasullullah s.a.w

mentioned "Whoever returns home and recites ayat Kursi, Allah will remove poverty from their eyesight".

Rasullullah s.a.w. also added, " For my followers who recite ayat Kursi 12 times on a Friday morning, and then takes wudhu and prays 2 rakaat, Allah will protect him from the evil of the syaitan and major evildoers." Those who recites ayat Kursi many times will be loved and protected by Allah just like how He protected Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

With Allah's will those who continually recites ayat Kursi will be protected against crime and burglary at their home.

When consistently recited during travelling it will also keep them save from harm. When recited with full concentration, Insya Allah it will cause the syaitan and jin to burn.

When you move to new home, recite it a 100 times in the first night, InsyaAllah the whole family will be protected from spiritual and physical harm.

Whoever recites ayat Kursi before lying on the bed to sleep, Allah will assign 2 angels to protect him or her till the Subuh period. Allah will also protect their home and all the homes around their neighbourhood.

Whoever recites ayat Kursi after Farhu prayers, Allah will provide them the satisfaction

of those who follows the truth, and the good deeds of the prophets will be given to them.

Whoever recites ayat Kursi before leaving the house, Allah will appoint 70,000

angels to them. The angels will pray for forgiveness and dua for them.

Whoever recites ayat Kursi after Farhu prayers, Allah azza wajallah will manage the retrieval of their soul the same as those who jihad in the name of Allah and died a shahid.

Whoever recites ayat al-Kursi in times of difficulty, Allah will provide help for them. From Abdullah bin Amr r.a.

Rasullullah s.a.w. said," Spread my message even if it is one ayat..."

Verse 255 of Surah-e-Baqarah (chapter: The cow) in holy Quran is called Ayat Al-Kursi: “Allah! There is no god but He - the Living, The Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him Nor Sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as he permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures As) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass Aught of his knowledge Except as He willeth. His throne doth extend over the heavens and on earth, and He feeleth No fatigue in guarding and preserving them, For He is the Most High, The Supreme (in glory).”

The benefits of Ayat Al-Kursi are:

1. Holy prophet (SAWW) said: whoever recites the first 4 ayats of Surae Baqarah, then Ayatul Kursi and then the last 3 ayats of Surah e Baqarah, will not be inflicted with any kind of difficulty in his wealth or himself, Satan will not come near him and he will not forget the Qur’an.

2. Holy Prophet (SAWW) said: Qur’an is a great word, and Surae Baqarah is the leader of the Qur’an and Ayatul Kursi is the leader of Surae Baqarah. In Ayatul Kursi there are 50 words and for each word there are 50 blessings and good in it.

3. One who recites Ayatul Kursi every morning will be in the protection, safety of Allah until the night.

4. If one ties this to ones wealth or children, they will be safe from Satan

5. Our Holy Prophet (SAWW) has said: These things increase ones memory: sweets, meat of an animal near the neck, Adas (Lentils), cold bread and recitation of Ayatul Kursi.

6. For those of our dear ones who have passed away, recitation of Ayatul Kursi and giving it as Hadiya to them, gives them light (noor) in the grave.

7. Frequent recitation makes ones own death easy.

8. When leaving home, if one recites it once, the Almighty has one group of Angels to come and protect you. If recited twice, 2 groups of Angels are assigned to do this. If recited 3 times Allah tells the Angels not to worry as the Almighty himself takes care of him.

9. The Holy Prophet has said: If one recites Ayatul Kursi before going to sleep, Allah will send an Angel to come and look after you and protect

10. When one is alone in the house, recitation of Ayatul Kursi and asking Allah for help will make you remain calm and you will not fear.

11. The Holy Prophet has said: When leaving home,if one recites Ayatul Kursi, then Allah will send 70,000 Angels to do Istighfaar for him until he returns home, and upon his return Poverty will be removed from him.

12. If one recites this after performing Wudhoo, the 5th Imam Hadhrat Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS) has said: Allah will give him a reward of 40 years of Ibadaat, his position will be raised in the Heavens 40 times (levels) and will marry him to 40 Horains.

13. One who recites it after every prayer, their salaat will be accepted, they will remain in the safety of the Almighty and He will protect them.

14. Allah told Prophet Musa (AS): If one recites it after every salaat, the Almighty will make his heart a thankful one (Shakireen), will give him a reward of the prophets, and his deeds will be like those of the truthful (Siddiqeen).

15. To increase light or vision (noor) in the eyes, recite Surae Alhamd once, then Ayatul Kursi and then once the following dua:- “U-eedhu nora basaree binuril lahi alladhi la yutfaa”, “I seek refuge for the light of my eyes by the light of Allah(SWT), which does not become extinguished”.

Salam, i KNEW there was something else i wanted to ask, i remember now :sl:

What i want to know if its ok is that, well, i dont always have Wudhu, but would you recommend reading Ayayul Kursi etc without the state of Wudhu? Obvoiusly without touching the Qur'an, just from recitation.

Also, can you touch any book without wudhu that has the name Allah in it? Most books with the word "Allah" in it will also have some arabic holy scriptures, wether it just be the word Allah in arabic, or some other quotes and titles. Same question for books with quotes of the Quran in?

JuzakAllah Khary Brother's and Sister's, much appreciated :sl:

Brother Doodzy, from what i heard just recently, its ok to read the quran (ayutul kursi being part of the quran) when yur not in state of wudu but with condition of not touching the kitab of course unless your in state of janabah, then your not allowed to utter any vers of it

as for can you touch any book besides the arabic text of the holy quran that has Allah's name on it without having wudu, yes, the only book you cant touch with out taharah (purity) is the holy quran..... as Allah says "which (that book with Allah,(quran)) none can touch but the purified" though people are different in opinion according to which madhab they follow

anywho, a very informative information bro aaqib, jazakallah

Heres the Tafsir I've been reading on Ayat Al Kursi. :sl:

Ayat Al-Kursi has Ten Complete Arabic Sentences [using large font size is not allowed]

1. Allah's statement,(Allah! None has the right to be worshipped but He)

mentions that Allah is the One and Only Lord of all creation

:sl:

Edited by Aaqib Ahmed

:sl:

2. Allah's statement,

(Al-Hayyul-Qayyum) testifies that Allah is the Ever Living, Who never dies, Who sustains everyone and everything. All creation stands in need of Allah and totally relies on Him, while He is the Most Rich, Who stands in need of nothing created. Similarly, Allah said,

(And among His signs is that the heaven and the earth stand by His command) ﴿30:25

:sl:

3. Allah's statement,

(Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him) means, no shortcoming, unawareness or ignorance ever touches Allah. Rather, He is aware of, and controls what every soul earns, has perfect watch over everything, nothing escapes His knowledge, and no secret matter is secret to Him. Among His perfect attributes, is the fact that He is never effected by slumber or sleep. Therefore, Allah's statement,

(Neither slumber overtakes Him) indicates that no unawareness due to slumber ever overtakes Allah. Allah said afterwards,

(nor sleep), which is stronger than slumber. It is recorded in the Sahih that Abu Musa said, "The Messenger of Allah delivered a speech regarding four words:

(Allah does not sleep, and it does not befit His majesty that He sleeps. He lowers the scales and raises them. The deeds of the day are resurrected in front of Him before the deeds of the night, and the deeds of the night before the deeds of the day. His Veil is light, or fire, and if He removes it, the rays from His Face would burn whatever His sight reaches of His creation.)

Assalamu alaikum, All praise is to Allah the most commpasionate and the Most merciful.

I am thankful to Allah that he had blessed me with a pious Dada (paternal grandfather) who taught me how to read Ayat-al- Kursi, when I was less than 3 years old. He did the same to my brothers and the other cousins and to numerous other children from our village. In fact he was our first Quran Teacher.

May Allah bless his soul and accept all his efforts and bless him with Jannatul Firdaus in the Hereafter.

Assalamu Alaikum, umAhmad.
