Low-fat diets that could put your child in peril

By JENNY HOPE

Parents who cut out all fat from their children's diets are placing their health at risk, scientists have warned.

Experts have long advised that a moderate intake of 'good' fats - such as olive and sunflower oils - is essential for proper growth and development.

But concerns over the rise in obesity have prompted many families to adopt low-fat regimes.

Now researchers have shown that children burn more body fat than adults for each calorie spent, which means they get rid of it more easily.

They hope this will convince parents not to go to extremes in their battle against the bulge.

very interesting post

:sl: Unfortunately people nowadays are putting their own kids in danger for the sake of having "the cool slim look" and the worst part is that they don't even realise.

We should all get better informed when it comes to children's nutrition, some may have good intentions and the result turns out to be for the worse of the children's health :D

I also saw a documentary about this issue, the main thing about it was that organism gets used to non-fat diet and as soon as you eat the smallest quantity of fat the organism desperately needs to deposit it so you become fat.

I personally think the best solution is to offer children a various diet, for a healthy developement of the organism.

May we all enjoy raising our beautifully growing up sweet kids with the mercy of Allah
