Praying Fajr in junub

Recommended Posts

Salaam bro and I pray you are in good health,

If I wake up to pray fajr but I realize there is only enough time to do wudu and not ghusl when I am in junub, is it allowed for a muslim to just do wudu in fearing he will miss fajr.

Walaikum Assalam, brother!

:D I am in good health, and pray you are too.

You cannot pray in the state of junub. Fajr lasts for more than an hour. You should wake up in sufficient time to perform ghusl.

The following hadith is evidence that when water is not available, tayammum must be done:

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 331; Muslim, 368.

‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) did not pray because he did not know that tayammum is obligatory for the one who cannot find water. ‘Ammaar ibn Yaasir (may Allaah be pleased with him) did tayammum in a different way because he did not know how to do tayammum correctly. But the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not tell them to make up the prayers that they had missed.

Wassalam
