US should ‘seize Iraq’s oil fields’ says Trump

Outspoken real estate mogul Donald Trump has urged President Obama to “get tough with Saudi Arabia†on oil prices and said the US military should seize Iraq’s oil fields.

The reality TV star, who is weighing a presidential run in 2012, said OPEC had run riot with oil prices and was forcing petrol costs to unrealistic levels.

“Gasoline prices are going to go to $5, $6, $7 and we don’t have anybody in Washington that calls OPEC and says, “Fellas, it’s time. It’s over. You’re not going to do it anymore,†Trump said during an appearance on ‘Good Morning America.’

“I’m going to look ‘em in the eye and say, “Fellas, you’ve had your fun. Your fun is over.

Saudi Arabia is oil cartel OPEC’s largest exporter and a long-time ally of the United States.

“They wouldn’t even be there if it wasn’t for us. If it weren’t for us, they wouldn’t be there. These 12 guys sit around a table and they say; ‘Let’s just screw the United States,’†Trump said.

The real estate tycoon, who ranked 488th on Forbes magazine's 2010 list of the world's billionaires, was equally controversial on the subject of Iraq.

The US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 cost the Pentagon an estimated $1bn a week and led to the death of at least 4,447 US military deaths. In compensation, Trump said, the military should seize the country’s oil fields and funnel off the profits.

“We go into Iraq. We have spent thus far, $1.5 trillion. We could have rebuilt half of the United States. So, in the old days, you know when you had a war, to the victor belong the spoils,†he said.

“You’re not stealing anything. You’re taking - we’re reimbursing ourselves - at least, at a minimum, and I say more. We’re taking back $1.5 trillion to reimburse ourselves.â€

Trump’s controversial views have proved popular with the American public. An Associated Press report said presidential polls showed growing support for his candidacy. The billionaire has said he would spend upwards of $600m on a potential run.

Trump running for President? The guy would be a joke if he runs for President in the same way he ran his bankrupt businesses.

Impossible to be a bigger joke than the clown we have in there now. Trumps businesses are doing pretty good now. And he has one of the highest rated T.V. shows.

If trump wins the republican nomination (which isn't going to happen), then it'll be easy for Obama to beat him and stay four more years. He's trying to get people to take a serious look at him by coming up with all these boneheaded radical ideas. These ideas are too radical and will backfire.

If we're paying $6 or 7 for gas and Obamas' approval rating keeps plummeting, all bets are off. Trump is a little snow ball at the top of the hill... I LOVE Trumps OPEC and China 'solutions.' :sl:

Even Republicans are distancing themselves from him now. It goes to show how little effort you need to isolate yourself when you are Mr Trump.

Of coarse they are. He's an 'outsider' that's leading in most of the polls. They're scared. He's their competition. Wait till gas goes up to $5 or $6 a gallon.

This guy is a joke as far as I'm concerned. There's no way I'll be voting for him if he does run next year.

I think there are better ways to solve the gas crisis than to invade a country for their resources.

Salam.

We've been wrongly accused of it for so long, how funny would it be if we actually did it ? ( are you lost, young lady ?)

The US is already in control of Iraqi oil by installing it's cronies in there

Sounds good, but you don't know your a-hole from your elbow. Our best 'crony' was Sadaam. We should have left him in power. How cool would that have been ? :sl:

dead right. bush invaded iraq for oil not for saddam's alleged wmd. and trump has confessed loud and clear bush's evil strategy. he should be dragged to face the music in international court of justice for destroying iraq and murdering thousands of innocents. :sl:

That would be cool, I suppose. It's always best to let the people themselves to decide about their future. :sl:

Gentlemen, I agree but the "catch" is much more precious and is "beyond" the capturing of Energy Dumps Around Middle East.......This is the beginning for the "Demarcation" of Greater israel....

They always give you which is visible or it is floated by design while the "real thing" is up the sleeves...

dead right. bush invaded iraq for oil ...

Do you have a learning disability ? I explained this to you a few times, but you still can't grasp this, can you ? READ THIS SLOWLY... If it were about oil, we would have left Sadaam in power. He was more than happy to sell the U.S. oil and skim the profits. Ever hear of the OIL for Food Program ? The U.S. hardly gets any oil from Iraq. But I don't expect you to follow all this. How could you ?

I'm a bit tired of hearing about Donald Trump and his antics. I'm also tired of hearing about Obama and his antics. I'm sure 2012 will be an interesting presidential election year...

Get used to it. Obamas total failure as a president will make for an historic election campaign for 2012.
