Us Elections 2012

Recommended Posts

The United States is clearly in decline. There are many essays on this, and here's one I like: http://www.foundationwebsite.org/TheLateGreatUnitedStates.htm

And here's another in US News & World Report, a fairly conservative magazine. http://money.usnews.com/money/blogs/flowchart/2009/10/26/9-signs-of-america-in-decline?msg=1

And, the only two fairly honest politicians I know are Barney Frank and Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont! Our car has on it a Bernie & Barney in 2012 bumper sticker!

Padre 5 , your first mistake is to believe ANYTHING you read in a conservative magazine . the conservatives if today would make Bill buckley turn in his grave , for they have morphed into a sanctimonious Bircher mentality . Anything that disturbs the present status quo is branded as leftist . The trouble with Conservative /Tea Party /Republicans is that they would see the country brought to its knees , even destroyed , so long as they would be in control .They've already proved that several times ,and the Democrats for their part ,will eventually destroy themselves trying to hold on to power .Neither will determine the next president , that will be decided by Independents and Centrists . Yes according to "conservatives " the US is in decline , and that being determined based on the fact that there is a black president and he's a democrat .Conservatives are ruled by paranoia and contentiousness .

Whether or not the US goes into decline will be the responsibility of the next Congress .

Aligarr, I guess everything you are saying is absolute fact, because you haven't said IMO anywhere. Didn't you say that if you make an opinion you would say IMO. So where is your documented proof of all these facts? I'd love to read your proof.

I would love to meet you and have tea or coffee. :) Name the place.. I am free to travel anywhere in the US on the 28th. :) I feel a pleasant conversation is in order between you, most noble Aligarr, and myself, the self-seeking parasite (sycophant).

Aligarr, my license plate is "LIBRAL". My former secretary and my son-in-law are the only two Republicans I deal with regularly, and I'm disappointed with Obama because he didn't have the guts, or the political clout, to go far enough to the left!

We don't need health insurance.... we need HEALTH CARE! I'm a believer in full, socialized medicine as a right.

Romney is a buffoon, who is no more qualified to be President than Hubert, our mini-dachshund. And, it doesn't take much insight to realize that this country has been headed towards the dust heap, at least since Richard Nixon assured us that he wasn't a crook.

Padre 5 , that's the problem, politicians rather than rendering a service to their country , embark on 'political careers " which should not even exist . There is a solution , but we'll not see it in our lifetime , and that is TERM LIMITS .

A for the Obamacare issue ? It matters not if we have a one payer system with lower cost insurance , or socialized medicine , the fact is , tyhat the present system is BROKEN . Reform is what is first and foremost necessarry . Obamacare needs revising not repeal because if anything it is a step in the right direction , but as in all political legislation , Obama had to given in to quaters in his own party to get the bill passed . The Republicans on the other hand reject it outright , but have absolutely nothing to offer as an alternative besides their tired old line about limiting tort . Which BTW accounts vfor little or nothing , in the roughly 30% rise in healthcare costs every 2-3 years . And ironically of the things Republicans DO favor in Healthcare , are already in the Obama bill . Some have even gone into effect alresady .

I agree on the issue that Republicans offered nothing. First of all

secondly I would like to say that the so called "civil" war was nothing more than a power struggle as the south wanted to retain power in the senate and congress using the 1/3 rule of slaves counting towards the electorate while the north wanted to abolish slavery for no other reason than to eliminate the southern hold on electoral power. This is clearly demonstrated when one looks at the fact that blacks were not allowed to work in most of the newly created states and many of the northern states. Also, if you actually read the emancipation proclamation slavery was only abolished in the so called rebel states while it was allowed to remain in those that had not left. Lincoln in fact said that blacks would never be equal and that Mexicans were like modern day mongrols. Racism was rampant at the time among the majority. You might want to also consider the fact that Stonewall Jackson started one of the first black schools in the nation. (granted that the president of the confederacy was an ardent racist and that Mississippi made it clear that they left due to slavery that is called an exception not the rule)

thirdly, if we established a socialist sort of system as it was meant we might begin to implement in people that it is not about self preservation but caring for your fellow man and thus start a new era in the history of mankind as Allah (swt) willed it.

abdullafath , the US was never intended to be a socialist nation . Socialism is a broad term and the definition of what the 19th and 20th centuries saw was most likely not even thought of in the 16th ,17th and 18th centuries. There is nothing in the history of the colonies or subsequent rebellion that led to the founding of the United States tyhat indicates "socialism " . There are things in every organized government or country or tribe that are "socialistic in nature " . Any common service or practice guaranteed by any organized group to any of its members is itself a form of socialism . There are many aspects of the present day U S that can be called socialistic in nature, such as Postal Service , Libraries , Customs service , public school system ,Police and Fire services etc. , which are necessarry for the common good . Socialism as it is known in modern times means no property ownership , government set equal wages , a system in which the government determines these based on the common good . Socialism in its intended and pure form closely resembles communism in it's intended and pure form .

As for slavery , I have already discussed that , the ethics that drove the South , and those of the North , and I referred to the leaders or wealthy on both sides as the elitists . The Emancipation Proclaimaition did not end racism , it ended slavery as a legal institution . Racism exists in the US today , as it does in EVERY SINGLE country on the planet ,without Exception .
