I have a couple of questions about this. First off, is this group even representative of the Taliban. This would seem to be a necessity for even taking them seriously. Secondly, does anyone think that this could herald a new chance for peace in Afghanistan and a quickening to the end of foreign military there (or at least a more peaceful transition from said occupation)? Hmmmmmmmm. You pose a legitament question of if they represent the Taliban. I could not tell you yay or nay my personal oppinion is that they do not represent the whole but just a faction of it. As to the second question given the regions history I don't see things quickening at all. Most likely it will go longer than what they project. That is just my opinion though. That region has just been so unstable.
Younes 202 Posted January 4, 2012 I have heard that this is false. That the Taliban won't agree to negotiations until the invaders leave.

The Al Jazeera article quoted a part of the statement you linked to and the New York Times report even links to the exact same page you did.
