Circumcision

This is what's so hard about being a revert, life before Islam wasn't condusive to what now is... I was wondering about circumcision because my sons aren't circumcised as my husbands family and culture considered it mutilation. They are 2 and 4 and I'm not sure I could put them through that pain! Do they absolutely need to be circumcised to be raised Muslim?

Look this way of life is complete...dont try to take everything on one go because it will overwhelm you and you won't handle it....just for now focus on learning tawhid bringing your self close to Allah...teach your kids...and meanwhile just ensure kids clean themselves after they urinate....dont get bogged down by all this stuff...remmember the early Muslims who accepted Islam spent many years learning tawhid...and increasing their spiritual side

yes, they have to. male circumsesion is an obligation for Moslem, BTW it have many medical benefits.

 

as the brother Abu-Zakariyah said there are more urgent obligation than it, but it is more easy in the young age. i mean whenever you and your children stabilize and have steady regular life you'd better take care of it.

in fact circumsision is one of the basic instincts we can discover by nature, including triming the nails, removing the undesired hair and some others.

 

1- do you consider the nails and hair as an errors?

2- how can you see, the man/women who make a surgical operation to [ cut the ear/nose/lips/... to install a ring, removing fats, drawing figures by such painful machines,....] for the name of fasion?

3- if it's scientifically proven that circumsision have many health benifits, will you perform it for your children for the name of science or no?

The earlier it done, the easier the circumcision. They most probably will take General anasthesia. Don't worry about pain inshaa'Allah. My relative married a revert sister and she had worries just like u, but all is ok now alhamdulilah. Try to find muslim/Jew doctor who may have good experience. He usually asks for some lab investigations then circumcise. It would be easy inshaa'Allah.

Not so. I'd have to get their fathers permission to do it... That won't happen period. They will probably be force ton make the decision when they're much older.

So if I as an adult male wanted to convert to Islaam then I would have to be circumcised? (Whimper …)

 

Mind you, I do have utmost respect for men who do convert to Judaism for this very reason: if also for Islaam then also respect.

 

By the way, circumcision can have health benefits, but it does depend. Peoples in the middle east were circumcising their boys independent of Abraham. But I don't think it is natural: people who think it is natural to have sharp cutting implements near their private parts are not natural in my mind!! LOL

 

Apart from the fact that our bodies now are 'fallen' – they are not what Allaah created in paradise – Adam was not circumcised. 'Divine circumcision' came through Abraham. Its spiritual meaning is clear once you think about it: to foreshadow the Virgin Birth, the summit of all the divine covenants. Jewish Christian groups tended to keep circumcision, as well as the Ethiopians, who were all Jewish beforehand. (Interestingly, there is much evidence to suggest that the native Christians in Iran and Iraq are the descendants of the israelite ten tribes, who left circumcision when they acknowledged Jesus as the promised Messiah.)
