The Paraclete

Who is the coming Paraclete?

John 14:16,17 "B1 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another A1 Paraclete, B2 that he may abide with you forever; 17 Even A2 the Spirit of truth; B3 the world cannot accept him, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.

John 14:26 "But A3 the Paraclete,A4 which is the Holy Spirit, whom B4 the Father will send in my name, C1 he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you.

John 15:26 "But when A5 the Paraclete is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, even A6 the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, C2 he shall testify of me"

John 16:7-10 "7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; B5 It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, A7 the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you. 8 C3 And when he is come, he will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because men believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.12 C4 I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when he, A8 the Spirit of truth, is come, C4 he will guide you into all truth: for B6 he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. 14 C5 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it to you.

The term (Paraclete) has been variously translated (counselor, advocate, helper, comforter)& some biblical scholars prefer the term (Paraclete) to be used without translation because of its complex& diverse meaning , according to the Catholic Encyclopedia the Paraclete is "an appellation of the Holy Ghost& his mission is to abide with the disciples after Jesus has withdrawn His visible presence from them& comforts the Church by guaranteeing her inerrancy and fostering her sanctity". The task of finding who is really the Paraclete lies first in understanding how this prophecy came to the gospel of John& not in the others, second in analyzing the meaning of the term (Paraclete ), his characteristics& his mission as mentioned in John's gospel, putting in our mind the two candidates for this office, the third person of trinity the Holy Spirit as Christians claim or Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and doing justice to the text unlike traditional Christian interpreters who simply skip the difficult parts of the prophecy like the conditional advent of the Paraclete or the fact that he receives revelation and rehearse whatever revealed to him. The prophecy is highlighted with letters to make it more easy for the reader to follow the various indications, A (for the identifications of the Paraclete), B (for his characteristics)& C (for his mission). Finally, a Christian may ask how can you use our scripture to validate the prophet of Islam?, we Muslims honestly do not look in the previous scriptures to validate our prophet(PBUH), by reading the Quran we know that the last messenger Muhammad(PBUH) has been prophesized in the Torah& the Gospel, Quran 7:157 "Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (Scriptures) - in the Law and the Gospel - for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and impure); he releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the Light which is sent down with him, it is they who will prosper.", we also know that prophet Jesus (PBUH) prophesized the coming of prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Quran 61:6"And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said: "O Children of israel! I am the Messenger of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me, and giving Glad Tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad. But when he came to them with Clear Signs they said, "This is evident sorcery!", we use the previous scriptures only for the purpose of our dialogue with others, however if this question is legitimate then we ask why is it right for the Christians to use the scripture of the Jews(the OT) to validate Jesus(PBUH) ?

What is the source of the prophecy of the Paraclete?

If such important tradition of Jesus(PBUH) would survive in the gospel of the gentiles it would be expected in one of the earlier written gospels, one may wonder how this important prophecy occurs in historically the least reliable gospel of John? which was the latest written gospel toward the end of the first century. However, this will be explained when the composition of this gospel is analyzed, John in three successive chapters 14, 15& 16 is the only one who has such important prophecy from Jesus(PBUH) about a very important figure like the Paraclete. Many biblical scholars concluded that this part of Jesus(PBUH) discourse was not original to the gospel of John, it was added in a later stage, they noted the inconsistencies of these chapters with the rest of discourse of Jesus(PBUH)& observed that there are two endings of Jesus(PBUH) discourse in the upper room in John's gospel which means that the discourse was expanded later by the evangelist or another editor by inserting another material that contained an earlier(written) tradition of Jesus(PBUH) which included Jesus(PBUH) foretelling the coming of a Paraclete, Introduction of John's gospel, New American bible "Within the gospel itself there are also some inconsistencies, e.g., there are two endings of Jesus' discourse in the upper room (John 14:31; 18:1). To solve these problems, scholars have proposed various rearrangements that would produce a smoother order. However, most have come to the conclusion that the inconsistencies were probably produced by subsequent editing in which homogeneous materials were added to a shorter original.". For example, Peter asks Jesus(PBUH) in chapter 13 where is he[Jesus(PBUH)] going, John 13:36 "Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?" but in chapter 16 Jesus(PBUH) says why non of his disciples is asking where is he going!!, John 16:5 "Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?", Jesus(PBUH) said by the end of chapter 14 "I will not speak with you much longer, ….Come now; let us leave.", Jesus(PBUH) is not supposed to give further speech after this statement& instead of the disciples leaving, Jesus(PBUH) apparently changes his mind& start giving the disciples a very long discourse in three full chapters (15,16,17) while he said earlier he will not speak with them much longer!!, this shows that this part of Jesus(PBUH) discourse which is lacking in the first three gospels belongs to a different material that the evangelist or another editor found& used to expand the gospel of John for a certain purpose which is according to Raymond E. Brown(Professor Emeritus at the Protestant Union Theological Seminary (UTS) in New York specialized in the Gospel of John& in Johannine community) the author was answering Johannine community survival concern after losing contact with the previous generation who claimed to witness the word(after the death of the beloved disciple who first established that church) especially in view of the anguish caused by the unexpected delay of what was thought an imminent second coming of Jesus(PBUH) within the lifetime of the generation which has witnessed Jesus(PBUH), Matthew 24:30-35 "They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call,... I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.", so according to Raymond E. Brown the interpretation of the author is that Christians no longer need to wait for the 2nd coming of Jesus(PBUH) he is already with them through the Paraclete, this is the reason why the evanglist added this material to Jesus(PBUH) discourse, verse 17:3 shows also that this part of Jesus(PBUH) speech belong to a Jewish Christian document the exegesis of IVP New Testament Commentaries, Biblegatway agrees to the similarity of this verse to the testimony of Islamic faith "The statement in verse 3 is also strikingly similar in form to the central affirmation of Islam, "There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is his Prophet."". The prophecy as it occurs in the gospel of John is a translation, so while the author is copying& translating from Aramaic to Greek he could change the context especially if the author did not understand well the document he was translating, so the author could introduce some changes to smoothen a hard part of the prophecy or he may add his own interpretation to the text to make it more suitable to his view& interpretation of the Paraclete. For instance, what the author of Luke did in Luke 1:18-20"And Zacharias said to the angel, By what shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife far advanced in years….And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words which shall be fulfilled in their season." In first underlined statement Zacharias(PBUH) was simply expressing his wonder to this amazing thing& he was not doubting the ability of God, the second underlined statement is clearly not part of the original text it shows the wrong interpretation of the author to the statement of Zacharias(PBUH), the author was trying to explain why Zacharias (PBUH) will be mute for sometime before his wife gives birth& he understood it to be punishment to Zacharias(PBUH), so the author is actually inserting his own interpretation to the text, we know this because it is impossible for a man of God like Zacharias (PBUH) or even any believer to doubt the ability of God this is a charge of blasphemy, in our prophecy also everything is actually subjected to the understanding of the author of the gospel of John, Spirit (Holy) Spirit of God, Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics, page 795"the teaching of the Fourth Gospel concerning the Spirit is based upon sayings of Jesus, but the form of its presentation is shaped by the writer's experience of the Spirit and his milieu towards the close of the first century. The critical questions as to the authenticity of sayings are in part met by the writer's view of the Spirit as interpreting and supplementing the revelation of Jesus to meet new situations and ever-enlarging spiritual capacity (14:26- 16:12) ", conservative scholars also admit that Jesus' discourse was shaped by the author of John, W. Hall Harris in his study on Major Differences Between John and the Synoptic Gospels(######) wrote "The long discourses in John’s Gospel do not necessarily represent Jesus’ exact words (ipsissima verba) as long as they give a faithful summary and interpretive paraphrase (ipsissima vox) of what he actually said. Jesus’ teaching in the Fourth Gospel may be couched in distinctively Johannine style.", later scribes also introduced changes, Gary M. Burge in his book The NIV Application Commentary: John, note on John 14:26"A few manuscript variants omit "holy" while others read "Spirit of truth" (harmonizing the verse with 14:17). The present reading (NIV) is important since some scholars refused to identify the Paraclete as the Holy Spirit (e.g., G. Johnston, The Spirit-Paraclete in the Gospel of John [Cambridge Univ. Press, 1970]).", Are the Spirit–Paraclete Sayings truly Johannine?, George Johnston wrote in his book (The Spirit-Paraclete in the Gospel of John pp. 61-79) "Within the last century it has also been thought that the spirit–paraclete texts had been interpolated: one of the more significant arguments for this view was that of H. Windisch in the Festschrift für A, Jülicher (1927). More recently the distinguished French Catholic scholar, M.-E. Boismard, has identified the editor of the Fourth Gospel as Luke the Evangelist.", we conclude that the prophecy does not exist in its original form& this should make us carful in interpreting the Paraclete prophecy in John's gospel.

What is the meaning of Paraclete?

It is a difficult task to find the exact meaning of the term Paraclete which the author of the gospel of John has used in his translation, it can't be the original word that Jesus(PBUH) has used, it has no equivalent in Aramaic or Hebrew, The Anchor Bible/The Gospel According to John(XIII-XXI) page 1136 "The closest study has not yet produced a Hebrew or Aramaic title for which parakletos is clearly a translation", what we will do here is try to make sense of the Greek meaning of the word "Paraclete" in view of the other identifications used for the Paraclete like "the spirit of truth"& in view of the characteristics of the Paraclete& his described mission& will come to the conclusion that the most appropriate indication to this term "Paraclete" is a prophet. Paraclete is the English transliteration of the Greek word "Parakletos", Strong's Greek dictionary number 3875. paraklétos (called to one's aid) , H.E.L.P.S.™ Word-studies "3875 paráklētos (from 3844 /pará, "from close-beside" and 2564 /kaléō, "make a call") – properly, a legal advocate who makes the right judgment-call because close enough to the situation. 3875 /paráklētos ("advocate, advisor-helper") is the regular term in NT times of an attorney (lawyer) – i.e. someone giving evidence that stands up in court.", the proper greek meaning applies to the one who speaks for you( in the court room), a spokesman , New American bile footnote John 14:16 "The Greek term derives from legal terminology for an advocate or defense attorney, and can mean spokesman, mediator, intercessor, comforter, consoler, although no one of these terms encompasses the meaning in John."& spokesman is exactly what a prophet means, Prophet, The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition "prophet [Gr.,=foreteller], a religious leader and spokesperson, particularly used in the Bible.", New Dictionary of the History of Ideas | 2005 | Kuntz, Marion " The root of the English word prophecy is derived from the Greek prophēteia, Latin prophetia. The root of prophēteia is derived from prophēmi, which means to speak before or for someone or something.", the other identification of the Paraclete is a spirit three times as "the spirit of truth"& once as "the Holy spirit", in Johaninne literature spirit can be impersonal (air, wind or force) or personal like in 1John 4:1-2"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God", here the spirit clearly means a prophet, it was used synonymous with prophet "false prophet" is "false spirit"& the Spirit of God means a prophet of God, in John's prophecy the spirit is personal, the author of John refers to the spirit by the personal pronoun "ekeinos" which is translated "He" seven times& this is a unique& unusual reference to the spirit that does not occur anywhere else in the NT, New American bible footnote John 14:17 "The Spirit of truth: this term is also used at Qumran, where it is a moral force put into a person by God, as opposed to the spirit of perversity. It is more personal in John; it will teach the realities of the new order (John 14:26), and testify to the truth (John 14:6). While it has been customary to use masculine personal pronouns in English for the Advocate, the Greek word for "spirit" is neuter", George Johnston in his book (The Spirit-Paraclete in the Gospel of John pp. 119-126) concluded that the spirit- paraclete is An inspired leader, an evangelist, a teacher, a prophet "the spirit–paraclete is the Spirit of God, which is also the Spirit of Christ, and thus an active divine power that becomes embodied in certain outstanding leaders within the catholic Church: the exegete, the teacher and evangelist, the prophet, the consoler out of sorrow, and the witness for the defence in times of persecution.", many biblical scholars agree with the conclusion of George Johnston that the Paraclete is not the Holy Spirit, The Anchor Bible/The Gospel According to John(XIII-XXI)/(Appendix V: The Paraclete) "Christian tradition has identified this figure as the Holy Spirit, but scholars like Spitta, Delafosse, Windisch, Sasse, Bultmann, and Betz have doubted whether this identification is true to the original picture and have suggested that the Praclete was once an independent salvific figure, later confused with the Holy Spirit" so "the spirit of truth" can be rightly translated as "the prophet of truth"& Muhammad(PBUH) before he was recognized as "a prophet" by those who believed him he was called by his community "the truthful", and the Holy spirit here would mean "the Holy prophet" though not all manuscripts read "Holy spirit" but some rather read "the spirit of truth", Gary M. Burge in his book The NIV Application Commentary: John, note on John 14:26"A few manuscript variants omit "holy" while others read "Spirit of truth" (harmonizing the verse with 14:17)."

Additional evidence which support that the Paraclete is a prophet still awaited for after Christ Jesus(PBUH) is found in the NT story of John chapter 1, when the Jews sent learned people(preists& levities) from Jerusalem to question John the Baptist about his identity (which he preferred according to the story to keep it secret), the Jews asked him about three persons they knew& awaited to come, John 1:21 (GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)) "They asked him, "Well, are you Elijah?" John answered, "No, I'm not." Then they asked, "Are you the prophet?" John replied, "No.", the comment of People's New Testament "1:20,21 He confessed, etc. Some conjectured that John was the expected Christ; others that he was Elijah who was first to come (Mal 4:5); others that he was that prophet, the one predicted by Moses (De 18:15); but he declared that he was none of these.", this story is clearly about the coming of a prophet after John the Baptist(PBUH)& the Christ (PBUH)& by simple linguistic analysis he can't be the Christ(PBUH), after the response of John by "no" to the three questions& in verse 25 " They asked John, "Why do you baptize if you're not the Messiah or Elijah or the prophet?", those who interpret Deuteronomy 18:15,18 as referring to the Christ(PBUH) are contradicting John 1:21,25 & are guessing according to Barnes' Notes on the Bible " That prophet - It is possible that the Jews supposed that not only "Elijah" would reappear before the coming of the Messiah, but also "Jeremiah.". Some have supposed, however, that this question has reference to the prediction of Moses in Deuteronomy 18:15." . Besides, this prophecy speaks of a prophet like Moses(PBUH) Deuteronomy 18:18 "I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.", Jesus(PBUH) is the least prophet that can be like Moses(PBUH), their personal profile is completely different, unlike Moses(PBUH) Jesus(PBUH) was not married had no children born miraculous& finished his ministry by ascending to heaven not to mention Jesus(PBUH) is God in Christian believe, their ministry is completely different, Moses (PBUH) abrogated all previous laws& brought a new law to his people but Jesus(PBUH) followed the same previous Mosaic law(& the Christians agree) not to mention that his mission according to Christian believe is to die as a sacrifice for human salvation, so with all this extreme dissimilarities how can this prophet be Jesus(PBUH), Jesus(PBUH) had his own prophecies but this can only refer to prophet Muhammad(PBUH) who is the Paraclete.

Finally, Geoffrey Parrinder (April 10, 1910 – June 16, 2005), was a professor of comparative religion at King's College London, Methodist minister, and author of over thirty books. At least one of his books, What World Religions Teach Us (1968) was considered a bestseller, an authority on indigenous West African religions, Among his students there was the future Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu, testifies in his book (Jesus in The Qur'an, One World Publications, Geoffrey Parrinder 1965, 1995, ISBN 1-85168-094-2) that the original word that Jesus(PBUH) used means "Muhammad", he wrote " Follow me as we trace the Biblical history of this Greek word "Paraclete". Startling as it may seem, at one time the word read "Periklytos" and "Paraklytos", which is the name for "Muhammad" in Greek. Surprising? It should not be because both words mean "Praised" or "Celebrate," the meaning and character of the man "Muhammad.". Knowing this, there is a need for us to study the life of Prophet Muhammad in depth to see if it all stands up. Surprisingly it does."

What are the characteristics of the Paraclete?

(1)And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Paraclete, Jesus(PBUH) said that this Paraclete will be sent from God which means that he is another messenger or another prophet while it is not right to say "he shall give another Holy spirit", the word "another" indicate he is not the first, he was preceded by one or more Paraclete of the same type (a human type) just like Jesus(PBUH), the Greek word allos means(another of the same type), Strong's Greek dictionary number 243. Allos "other, another", H.E.L.P.S.™ Word-studies"243 állos (a primitive word) – another of the same kind; another of a similar type", indeed Jesus(PBUH) was a previous Paraclete in 1John 2:1, New American bile footnote John 14:16 "Another Advocate: Jesus is the first advocate (paraclete); see 1 John 2:1", for this Paraclete to be of a similar type to Jesus(PBUH) he should come in a human form and should carry a similar mission just like Jesus(PBUH), this is consistent only with the Islamic concept of the continuous chain of prophets, each prophet will continue in the same mission of the prophet who preceded him and this is inconsistent with the Holy spirit who does not come in human form and does not have a similar mission to Jesus(PBUH) in either Muslim believe(as a prophet of God) or Christian believe( as a sacrifice).

(2)That he may abide with you forever, the Paraclete in his mission comes mainly as a teacher& as a teacher he abides in his teaching, this is the correct interpretation of the language of John to abide with you or dwell in you or in you in the language of John reflect the knowledge, the teaching& the message given to the disciples& to the people, it is not an actual presence in the disciples or in the people, John 17:21-23 "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one", this means that this Paraclete will be sent as a final messenger with an eternal law that will remain preserved till the day of judgment, this is fulfilled only in Muhammad(PBUH) because the Quran is the only divine message that remained free of human corruption, there is not a single Muslim in the world today who recite a different Quran not even in one letter difference as compared to all other scriptures of the world which have many different variants which differ not only in translations but in their content.

(3) The world cannot accept him, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you, some Christians interpreters like to take for granted that this means this Paraclete is invisible to human eyes& so it should definitely refer to the Holy Spirit, but this will lead us to a rather bizarre interpretation to what Jesus(PBUH) is trying to say, Jesus(PBUH) according to this interpretation was telling his disciples that the world cannot accept this Paraclete because he is invisible being but for you this should not be a problem at all because you will feel him inside you!!, we know that the Holy Spirit is at the disposable of all the people, this is not a special privilege only to the disciples, so this should not be an obstacle for the world to accept him at all, anyone will feel this gift if he will accept faith just like the disciples, this would be really a meaningless statement, this part is clearly addressed to the faithful community(the followers of Jesus(PBUH)) who already believed in the coming of this Paraclete before his time, as believers they believed his coming just on the promise of Jesus(PBUH) in contrast to the rest of the world who do not believe in him because they did not see him or know him yet.

(4) the Father will send in my name, this means again that he is a messenger of God and he speaks for Jesus(PBUH) to reveal the truth.

(5) It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you, the condition advent of the Parclete who will not come until after the departure of Jesus(PBUH), this Paraclete cant coexist with Jesus(PBUH) where the Holy spirit was with Jesus(PBUH) and well before Jesus(PBUH) and when Jesus(PBUH) said "I will send him to you" he meant by praying to God because he said earlier "I will pray the Father and he will send you another Paraclet", this is strong evidence that the Paraclete is not the Holy spirit who came already& was with Jesus(PBUH) during his ministry, Luke 3:22 "And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him" before Jesus(PBUH) , John the Baptists was filled with the Holy Ghost, Luke 1:15 "For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb".

(6) He shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak, this means he is a human and a prophet, this is strong evidence that the Paraclete is not the Holy spirit who should speak of himself and the description (whatever he shall hear that he shall speak) means he receive verbal inspiration and rehearse whatever revealed to him, this is true only in the case of Muhammad(PBUH) who claimed that he received the Quran as a verbal inspiration and it is inconsistent with the mission of the Holy spirit, does the Holy spirit speak whatever he shall hear?, this is in no doubt speaking about a prophet who will receive verbal inspiration.

What is the mission of the Paraclete?

It is important to notice that there is lack of biblical confirmation to the fulfillment of the mission of the Praclete in the Holy Spirit, the disciples did not confirm that the Holy Spirit they had received in Acts 2 was the promised Paraclete of John's gospel, the Paraclete main role as a teacher is very clear in the prophecy, New American bile footnote John 14:16 "The Paraclete in John is a teacher, a witness to Jesus, and a prosecutor of the world, who represents the continued presence on earth of the Jesus who has returned to the Father.", but the Holy Spirit main role as in Acts2 is to give the disciples special power, strength & enable them to speak in different tongues which in no way can be considered fulfillment to the prophecy of the Paraclete, "Acts 2:1-4 " When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.", we did not see the Holy Spirit teaches the disciples anything, actually the disciples did not need any teaching from the Holy Spirit, the disciples initially did not understand the teaching of Jesus(PBUH), John 12:16 "At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.", but when the disciples saw the post resurrection glorified Jesus they understood everything!, the gift of the Holy Spirit they received at Pentecost gave them a special power& enabled them to speak in different tongues but this is not the function of the Paraclete described in John's gospel, the Paraclete of John's gospel is a teacher who is expected to teach all things& to bring to the remembrance the true teaching of Jesus(PBUH), this means that Jesus(PBUH) was addressing through the disciples future generations who will be really in need of a Paraclete after the departure of Jesus(PBUH).Furthermore, none of the known major functions of the Holy spirit like the baptismal regeneration is mentioned in here for this Paraclete in John's gospel, this is again another inconsistency that need to be explained when one would interpret the Paraclete as the Holy spirit.

(1) He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you, the main mission of the Paraclete is a teacher who will lead mankind in all things spiritual and living issues and if the Holy Spirit is the promised Paraclete who will be the ultimate guide to Christianity after Jesus(PBUH) has left? Where are these teaching that are attributed to him in the bible or anywhere else ? Does he really guide the Christians today spiritually& in their living issues? Is he now with the Catholics or with the Protestants? Did he play any role in the 16th century protestant reformation or was he behind the Married Women's Property Acts which gave the married Christian woman in the west her right to own property in the 19th century for the first time? If he did participate why it took him too long to give such important teaching to Christianity?, Jesus(PBUH) said that he will teach you all things, so What does the Holy Spirit say about the current problems like the intoxication, drugs, homosexuality& abortion? If the Paraclete is the Holy Spirit who was immediately with the disciples after Jesus(PBUH) departure where is the need for him to remind the disciples of what Jesus(PBUH) has said though no time gap during which the disciples will forget the teaching of Jesus(PBUH)?& if he did remind them what are these teachings that they lost& were reminded by the Holy Spirit?, we see clearly how this prophecy is unfulfilled in the Holy Spirit. However, these are clearly fulfilled by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he is the one disclosed all things as he came with a comprehensive divine law covering all aspect of life including the many pressing problems that humanity is facing& not properly addressed, Quran 5:15 "O People of the Book! there hath come to you Our Messenger, revealing to you much that ye used to hide in the Book, and passing over much (that is now unnecessary): There hath come to you from Allah a (new) light and a perspicuous Book.", Muhammad(PBUH) is the one who reminded the Christians in many places in the Quran of what Jesus(PBUH) really said& taught. For instance, Quran 61:6"And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said: "O Children of israel! I am the Messenger of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me, and giving Glad Tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad. But when he came to them with Clear Signs they said, "This is evident sorcery!", Quran 61:14 "O ye who believe! Be ye helpers of Allah: as said Jesus, the son of Mary, to the Disciples, "Who will be my helpers to (the work of) Allah?" Said the Disciples, "We are Allah's helpers!" Then a portion of the Children of israel believed, and a portion disbelieved: but We gave power to those who believed against their enemies, and they became the ones that prevailed.", Quran 43:61-65"And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed. When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: "Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear Allah and obey me. "For Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship ye Him: this is a Straight Way." But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day!"

(2) He shall testify of me, an important part of the mission of this Paraclete is to carry to mankind a very important testimony about Jesus(PBUH) indeed mankind are in dispute about Jesus(PBUH) and in need of a testimony from the Almighty God the all knowing and we know that no spiritual leader came after Jesus(PBUH) gave to Jesus(PBUH) a testimony as Muhammad(PBUH) did, the Quran testifies that Jesus(PBUH) was a righteous son born miraculous with no Father as a sign for mankind& a mercy to his people, the Quran confirm that Jesus(PBUH) is the Word of God, a Prophet& a mighty messenger of God(one of God's greatest prophets called in the Quran the prophets with the strong will)& confirmed that he was the true Christ& his gospel is the true word of God, the Quran reported the many miracles he performed& his ascension into heaven& his coming back at the end of time during which all mankind will accept him, The Prophet(PBUH) said, "If anyone testifies that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone Who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His Slave and His Apostle, and that Jesus is Allah's Slave and His Apostle and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit created by Him, and that Paradise is true, and Hell is true, Allah will admit him into Paradise with the deeds which he had done even if those deeds were few." (Sahih Bukhari,Volume 4, Book 55, Number 644)

(3) And when he is come, he will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because men believe not on me;, Jesus(PBUH) said when the Paraclete comes he will prove to the world that they are wrong& sinful, this should include not only the pagans& the Jews but also the Christians themselves, so this Paraclete should not complement the Christians, he should rectify them there is no exception for the Christians he said "he will convict the world". Furthermore, he said at the time of the coming of this Paraclete "men believe not in me(in Jesus(PBUH))", he described the disbelieve state of "men" means all the people, the Jews who believe he is false Christ, Christians who believe Christ is God, and pagans who do not believe in him at all, people do not anymore uphold the correct believe in Jesus(PBUH) all the people& only this Paraclete will bring them back to the correct believe. This is fulfilled only in Muhammad (PBUH), he is the one rectified the whole world, Quran 3:20 " So if they dispute with thee, say: "I have submitted my whole self to Allah and so have those who follow me." And say to the People of the Book[Jews& Christians] and to those who are unlearned[Arab pagans& others] : "Do ye (also) submit yourselves?" If they do, they are in right guidance, but if they turn back, thy duty is to convey the Message; and in Allah's sight are (all) His servants."& prophet Muhammad(PBUH) is the one restored the correct believe in Jesus(PBUH), Quran 4:172" O people of the Scripture (Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of God aught but the truth. The Messiah Jesus, son of Mary, was (no more than) a Messenger of God and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary and a spirit created by Him; so believe in God and His Messengers. Say not: "Three (trinity)!" Cease! (it is) better for you. For God is only One God, glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And God is All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs.", Quran 18:18 " Praise be to God, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness: (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward, Wherein they shall remain forever: Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "God hath begotten a son": No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying: What they say is nothing but falsehood! Thou wouldst only, perchance fret thyself to death, following after them, in grief, if they believe not in this Message. That which is on earth We have made but as a glittering show for the earth, in order that We may test them, as to which of them are best in conduct. Verily what is on earth We shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage)."

(4) I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth, this again stresses the fact that the people at the time of this Paraclete are misguided in their spiritual and living issues and only this Paraclete will guide them to all truth. Is this description fitting to the disciples when the Holy spirit came to them at Pentecost?, were they still in their disbelieve in Jesus(PBUH) even after seeing the alleged resurrected Jesus(PBUH) ? so that the Holy spirit will guide them!, if the Holy spirit did guide them to all truth, so what is this truth that the Holy spirit found the disciples missing and he clarify it to them?. The disciples and the early followers of Jesus(PBUH) were not ready to receive the last divine code of law" you can't bear them now" which will only be revealed by the last messenger of God prophet Muhammad(PBUH) who will find humanity misguided and will guide them to all truth with a new and comprehensive divine code of law "However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth", Quran 5:48 " To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by what God hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have We prescribed a Law and an Open Way. If God had so willed, He would have made you a single People, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you; so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to God; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute".

(5)He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it to you, Jesus(PBUH) need to be glorified by this Paraclete, Jesus(PBUH) after his alleged resurrection was fully glorified!!, so what more glorification Jesus(PBUH) needed from the Holy spirit?. However, the true glorification to Jesus(PBUH) is that brought by Muhammad(PBUH) when he refuted the Jewish charge of adultery against Mary(PBUH)& their blasphemous attempt to kill Jesus(PBUH) to disprove him as the true Christ of God, Quran 4:156-159 "That they[the Jews] rejected Faith; that they uttered against Mary a grave false charge; That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of God"; but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not. Nay, God raised him up unto Himself; and God is Exalted in Power, Wise. And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment he will be a witness against them.", the Quran refutes the polytheism charge against Jesus(PBUH) by the Christians when they attributed to Jesus(PBUH) that he claimed to be God or that God is three persons in Trinity, while Jesus(PBUH) claimed to be a servant of God, Quran 19:30 "He[Jesus(PBUH)] said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet", Quran 5:72,73 "They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is the Christ the son of Mary." But said the Christ: "O Children of israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him the Garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help. They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.", other negative characters that are attributed to Jesus(PBUH) in the bible are also refuted in the Quran, Jesus(PBUH) in the bible is insulting to the people& even to his own disciples, he calls the non Jews dogs in Matthew 15:22- 26, he calls the Jews snakes, evil and adulterous in Matthew 16:4,23:33& he calls his closest disciple Peter Satan in Mark 8:33, Jesus(PBUH) also in the bible is contradicting his teaching he says Mark 7:10"For Moses said, Honor your father and your mother and Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death." But he does not give a good example of himself as he portrayed in the bible he never addressed his mother Mary peace be upon properly as "mother" instead he calls her women the Christians defend this by saying he is God but they forget their claim that he is also a man & as a perfect man has fulfilled the mosaic law but this can only be true if he addressed his mother according to the mosaic law. However, the Quran refutes all of this negative portrayal of Jesus(PBUH), Quran 19:32 "(He) hath made me[Jesus(PBUH)] kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable".
