Help A Brother In Need

Recommended Posts

:sl:

Our member, brother abdullahfath, is facing tight financial problems. He contacted me to get permission to ask for your help. We usually don't allow forum members to raise funds or collect any money, but this brother is in real need of help. He is a revert as you probably know, and he hates to start fasting the month of ramadan with the burden of loans and pawns.

The brother will post the details, and I leave it up to you if you want to consider paying part of your zakah to help him out. The circumstances he's currently going through makes him one of those who deserves to be given zakah, for 2 reasons. As you know, there are eight categories on which zakaah must be spent, which Allaah has explained clearly. He states that this is a duty imposed by Allaah and that it is based on knowledge and wisdom.

“As-Sadaqaat (here it means Zakaah) are only for the Fuqaraa’ (poor), and Al‑Masaakeen (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds); and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allaah’s Cause (i.e. for Mujaahidoon — those fighting in a holy battle), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allaah. And Allaah is All-Knower, All-Wise”

[al-Tawbah 9:60]

The first reason you may give the brother zakah is under the fourth category:  “to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam)”. These are people who may be given zakaah in order to open their hearts towards Islam, either a kaafir who we hope will become Muslim, or a Muslim to whom we give in order to strengthen his faith.

The second reason for giving the brother your zakah is based on the sixth category: those who are in debt.

Jazakum Allahu khayran.

Salaam alaiykum brothers and sisters,

$2, 660 -  loans & pawns total

I have been trying to help my sister-in-law who is pregnant and on pelvic
rest.  My brother-in-law left her high and dry.  My nephew is also
with her.  She has been unable to work
and then my wife was suspended without pay for a tattoo that she had before she
started working there.  She has been working for them for 2 years.  She
has had one operation already and was not given notice or time to get it
removed.  At the time I was getting very
little hours at work so my checks were like a little over $300.

Right now I am bringing in a little over $470 average.

Our bill totals right now at $972 for this upcoming month because of late
fees

electric - $283

AT&T - $177

rent - $512

I am getting an avg of 36hrs/wk at work right now and the company is going
to work with my wife to allow her to work while she is getting the tattoo
removed.  She goes back to work after the 4th of July.

I appreciate any help that is given.
I have a paypal account.  My email
for the paypal is theabdullahfathi[at]yahoo.com  <- I am not sure if this is the
information that is needed to put money to it, if not let me know

Also I am willing to copy and post pictures of receipts to show that the money is going towards what it is being given for.  I appreciate any help I can get at this point.

Hello brothers and sisters, my name is Alicia and I am Abdullah's wife. I am tryly greatful for the help that all of you have given us financially and in prayer. My husband is a good man and does everything he can to provide for our family. He works hard so hard and I know that he is so exhausted and I try my best to help him we have fallin in hard times at the moment and he is doing everything he can. I am not muslim I am Catholic but I support my husband in his religion I have learned so much since we have met and married and I am truly blessed to have him in my life I have so much respect for all of you and what you believe in. people always think badly because I am not muslim but please understand I do not judge my husband or anyone for that matter I respect him and do my best to help him I make sure he has a way to go to jummah and during ramadan I wake up every morning to make him a breakfast so that he may make it through the day and have dinner ready for him for when the sun sets. I love that my husband is so devoted to his religion. Before he had doubts and was tempted to just quit but I would always tell him dont give up if you ask someone for answers and they dont have it that is no reason to just give up take the time to research it yourself and pray about it ask God to show you the answer and just give it time. If at the end of the day you decide that your heart is telling you to walk away then I support you. I never enforce my religion on my husband because when he stands before God and he is asked why he chose this decision he cannot say because people said I should. My husband works at night and does some tutoring during day to make money but the money only takes care of so much. I was suspended from work without notice or warning for a tattoo that I had before I started working there I got it when I was 18 and I am now 29. I was told if I did not get it removed I could not work there I had no time to save up or anything and it takes 2-3 procedures to remove it and costs 150$ per treatment. We have been financially resposible for my sister-n-law who is pregnant and due in 3 days and my 5 year old nephew she has no job because she cannot work she has been with us for 6 months now because my brother left her with no money and no food we took her in because she has no one and her family disowned her. I got sick and was diagnosed with COPD, asthma, diabeted 2 and pneumonia and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. all my medications and hospital bills have really put us in debt. My illness does restrict me from certain thing but thankfully I can return to work after the 4th. We understand if you cannot send anything and prayer is most appreciated. Thank you for all of your help and all of your prayers. God bless you all.

new update:

the wife isn't going to be starting back on the 4th as her job says it has to be completely removed first but we do not have the means to pay for the next procedure. They told her that they understand if she has to look elsewhere for a job in order to pay for the procedure.  But, with her out of work and we only have the one vehicle we can't really afford for her to do too much job hunting.  Which compounds the loans and pawns problem.

Anybody that can help it is deeply appreciated

Salaam alaiykum ya'll

this will be my last post in this thread.  We are still at about $2,000 in loans and if we don't pay it we lose the only car we have.  I am helping to take care of my 3yr old niece right now.  If we can cover these loans we can still make it.  If not we could be looking at losing the car, being taken to court, possible jail time, and being out on the street while trying to figure out where to take my niece or even how to get the money to send her there.

if anyone has any questions please feel free to pm me, I am also happy to produce the receipts showing what we owe as well as evidence that the money is going where it is meant to be going. Also happy Ramadan for everyone reading this and may Allah forgive us all and grant us paradise.

It might not be a necessity in a city or wherever you are from but here, in the south there are no buses and very few taxis outside of the city.  The job is three miles away and that is the closest of the places that I have to go.  There is no public transportation here and believe it or not there is hardly any sidewalks.  none near where I live.

My name is Vincent Skipper.  I live in Anniston, Alabama.  I work at Wal-Mart in the garden center where i bring in an average of $400 every two weeks.  I am a Muslim revert.  I have struggled with my iman because of cultural upbringing but finally managed to find solid grounding spiritually speaking.  During my struggle I took out some loans and pawned a few things because of trying to feed and support the family.  My wife was suspended from her job for a tattoo she has on her hand that she has had since before she started working there over two years ago but for some reason they decided to suspend her for it anyways.  She cannot return to work until it is removed and it is over $150 to get it done not counting the gas to get to Birmingham where the doctor is.

Our finances were based off of a duel income plan so when she was let go it kind of threw a wrench into our money.  Then my
sister-in-law was left by her husband while she was pregnant.  She had no means of obtaining gainful employment or providing for herself and her family would not or could not help her.  We took her in along with my nephew as my brother-in-law had my niece.  We did our best to feed both my sister-in-law and my nephew but it was still on a singular income.  At one point I even took up a second job at Waffle House as a server but found that the money I was receiving was not enough especially after the wife came down sick with bronchitis and pneumonia. She was hospitalized twice.  Her medications accumulated at over $100 after her medical insurance.  Then while my sister-in-law was living with us we also had to try and run her around to her appointments while getting me to work, all with one vehicle and one income for the family.

Recently she has left as the brother-in-law returned and took both the nephew and my sister-in-law back to Texas with him.  Our niece is with us, however, as they figured that they might not have enough monetary means to cover all three children, though the brother-in-law is supposed to send a little bit of money to try and help with some of the costs of the niece.  Our present problem is the loans and pawns.  I have already downloaded the pdf file and will be mailing it tomorrow night sometime after I meet with the imam at the Anniston Islamic Center, his name is Muhammad Haq.

Our pawns are:

$125
$125
$156

There is two tvs and a lap top.

We have a title pawn at $1,099
a cash advance at $470
two world finance loans, one at $200 and another at $283
and finally another loan at a little over $200

Our rent is $428 but we have been paying just rent as we have been unable to pay the late fees, so these have also been accumulating.  Roughly, we have about $100 in late fees for our rent.  Our electric bill coming up is $279.

The pawns are due the 21st, the 29th and the 30th and with the way things are looking we will not have enough money to cover
anything even just the payment itself.  The title pawn is due August 2nd.  Cash advance is due August 1st.  the world finance loans are due August 3rd and the last one is due the August 1st.

Our problem has been trying to play catch up really.  If we were able to pay off these loans and pawns and catch up on our rent we would be more than able to balance things out as we needed to as we are starting to get used to living on a single income budget now.  We are more than happy to provide evidence of where any money given is used along with verification of the existence of the loans, pawns and any other information desired.

We are are in severe need of help. We are living on one box of ramen noodles which me and my wife split or she chooses to not eat at all because she wants me to eat for iftar. My niece eats a can of ravioli and eggs which we are now down to 2 cans and half a dozen of eggs...My wife is suppose to eat because she is diabetic and has other illnesses that the meds require her to eat but she still chooses to just make food for me to make the food last longer I am afraid this will cause harm to her. We have tried everywhere possible and it has come to the realization that we will not have no more food and the electric will get cut off and we will loose our apartment. We have no gas for me to go to work and every time I get paid it all goes to paying just the interest on things so we don't loose our car or go to jail or loose the things we have in pawn...we roughly have about $20 out of every paycheck which we put 10 in gas and buy cans of noodles for our niece to eat..Please help in anyways we are in desperate need PLEASE!!! my paypal is   theabdullahfathi[at]yahoo.com

We are not asking for any specific amount as every little bit will more than help.

as salaamu alaiykum brothers & sisters,

We just received a notice tonight.  If we do not come up with $126 because of late fees they will start eviction.  We have 7 days to come up with the money & I do not get paid again until the 1st of August.  I have already spoken with the imam at the local masjid.  We are getting ahold of everyone we possibly can.  My wife is applying for whatever jobs we can think of and have heard nothing back and even if she got hired we still would not have the money in time.  As for why we have the late fees read previous posts in this thread.  If any of you can help please send the money to my paypal account theabdullahfathi[at]yahoo.com

It will not just be me and my wife out on the street if this goes through but also my 3 yr old niece.  It is really hard to try and show my wife the beauty of Islam when we are struggling so hard and can get no help. I am happy to provide evidence of the letter and proof that the money has been used for this when the time comes.

I am going to say this and then someone can just delete my account.  My family is in real financial trouble.  I try to show my wife the beauty of Islam and how caring and understanding it is but instead I am left trying to justify why no matter where we go we cannot get help.

I understand now what Yusuf Islam meant when he said, "thank god I discovered Islam before I met the Muslims"

Brother I am quite shocked at how ungrateful your above comments are. Did you not think that maybe other people on this forum also don't have money. I for one am an unemployed student but charity in Islam is not just about sending money. Many brothers and sisters here have supported you in other ways by helping you with resources about Islam and by giving you advice and then you say something like you are glad you found Islam before you met Muslims. Don't let your heart be hardened against Muslims just because of your situation because some of us are also not in good financial situations. If I could help financially I would but I can only keep you in my prayers.

Well hey thats what i will tell my 3 yr old niece.  As for ungrateful I could care less right now what you or anyone else on this forum thinks.  To be frank I think that this forum and others like it are a waste of time.  As for advise I have not received a single useful piece of information from this website, ever.

Now you just sound childish... brother this world is not a fairy tale where everything has a happy ending. Sometimes we are put through tests and hardship. That muslims donated from this forum, who do not know nor have they seen you, should uplift you.

No denies what you are going through and for sure it is not easy, but acting out like this is not the right response

And We will most certainly try you with somewhat of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits; and give good news to the patient ones (155), who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: “Surely we are Allah's and to Him we shall surely return” (156). Those are they on whom are blessings and mercy from their Lord, and those are the followers of the right course (157).

Surah Baqara

I think you guys need to go easy on the brother. Giving bitter advice never sinks when one is in a state of agitation.
