Allah’s (swt) Mercy far surpasses His Wrath. Man is given numerous chances and occasions whereby to repent and seek to engage in behaviours and actions that please Allah (swt) –

Say: 'O My slaves who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful - [soorah az-Zumar (39): 53]

Allah is more merciful to His believing servants than that mother could ever be to her child

"Verily, those who disbelieve and prevent (others) from the path of Allah; they have certainly strayed far away. Verily, those who disbelieve and did wrong; Allah will not forgive them, nor will He guide them to a way. Except the way of Hell, to dwell therein forever; and this is ever easy for Allah. O mankind! Verily, there has come to you the Messenger with the truth from your Lord. So believe in him, it is better for you. But if you disbelieve, then certainly to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. And Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise. O People of the Scripture! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allah except the truth. Al-Masih `Isa, son of Maryam, was (no more than) a Messenger of Allah and His Word, which He bestowed on Maryam and a spirit from (created by) Him; so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not: "Three!'' Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allah is (the only) One God, hallowed be He above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs. Al-Masih will never be too proud to be a servant of Allah, nor the angels who are the near (to Allah). And whosoever rejects His worship and is proud, then He will gather them all together unto Himself. So, as for those who believed and did deeds of righteousness, He will give them their (due) rewards and more out of His bounty. But as for those who refused His worship and were proud, He will punish them with a painful torment. And they will not find for themselves besides Allah any protector or helper.  [Q4:167-173]

The Mercy of Allah will only be on the believers on the Day of Judgement and not on the disbelievers.
