Violence, Torture, Capital Punishment & You

Recommended Posts

Whether we are considering the beheadings of A, the airstrikes of B or the lethal injections of C,

violence & capital punishment exist because of the limits with which we find ourselves constrained;

To physically attack someone in an other-wise verbal confrontation, is to admit defeat at the hands of one's emotions (frustration).

To kill someone for apostasy, adultery and/or the drawing of cartoons, is also an admission of defeat at the hands of one's emotions.

To end the life of an 'offender' is to defend the idea that no 'better' remedy could be found or employed.

The punishment of pain, torture or death, is in itself, a declaration that 'we' have 'decided' there to be no other way of solving 'the' problem.

What ignorance, defeatism and frustration is necessary to manage an eternal hell-fire?

Can it really be said that God's only response to our emotional immaturity, is to enforce such behaviours Himself?

To what extent (if at all) is God's anger considered a strength?

Does He dismiss the possibility of 'repair' for all those who enter hell?

Thank you all.

Too true.  And tragically, religions of any flavour, legitimise what would have to be the most debased of human behaviours.

As usual, emotive and psychological issues raised.

There's just enough ambiguity here to render your input useless.

But thank you, all the same.
